I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

my grandma was just there during christmas due to her heart condition and not being able to walk. while staying there she got a UTI and became very altered. she did not seem taken care of and obviously was not monitored because she fell and had to go to the emergency room. the staff did not see the fall and did not even notify us or provide proper information for the ER staff. my grandma called us from the ER when the nurse gave her a phone. do not let your loved ones go here. clearly a very hazardous facility that doesn't care about their patients or well being.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My 85 year old mother was admitted for recovery and rehab due to total knee placement surgery. She was admitted on Aug 31st. The nursing staff was helpful and willing to answer any and all questions I had. If they didn't know the answer someone got back to me. The nursing staff we had direct contact with were, Deborah, Ranita, Alice, Tiffany and they were just awesome. The rehab staff were just as great. Yasir, Sebrina, Laneeka, & Tonya, the DOR were amazing. You could see the special care they gave my mom and others as well. My mom was there 31 days. I was there everyday and sometimes twice a day. The place is clean and staff is constantly picking up and cleaning up. The rooms are much like a hospital room. There a activities if the patient wants to join in. A small place but I have no complaints. My advice is to take a tour and check it out. I would use again if the need arose.

Provider Response

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Really, Really a sad experience! I am the daughter of a former patient. My Mom was recovering from pancreatic cancer surgery. I traveled from Houston, Texas for the Thanksgiving Holiday week. My Mother having always been a vital spirited woman was in a helpless state. I and my siblings gathered around her daily. Thank God for his love poured out to us, we were more than ready to share and take care of her needs ourselves. It just torn my heart inside out to come home to the place I was born and raised, to see the mother who raised me in such a terrible state. To respect her privacy I will not be as graphic as I would like. I'll just say "My siblings and I changed my mother several times. This is not acceptable for a facility that is supposedly in the business of facilitating the patient's rehabilitation process. It was the kindness and professionalism of the Therapy Staff that gave my family and I comfort enough to leave my mother overnight. It was the Grace and Mercy of GOD AlMIGHTY that kept her ALIVE! They even went as far as to say (without evidence) that my mother had some sort of infection that kept them from changing her. Interestingly enough her doctor (at St. Vincent's Hospital) never found one. Additionally, not only her surgeon, but when she traveled to Delaware {with family}, she visited the hospital there for some tests and there were no results that confirmed any such findings, and the facility never gave us evidence of any such findings. There was an occassion upon which I was told that there was not enough staff to facilitate the care needed. Another interesting fact, upon changing my mother one of the CNAs asked about Mom's bowel situation. I was so very {hard to even express} the lack of information given to the people who are the first in caring for the recovering patient. Sadest of all these reviews of dissatisfaction with the services rendered, probably won't give power to elements of change in this industry. Especially when you are in a position to assist some in getting the most out of their last days, while all others need are caretakers who have a heart for caring for others, and actually make a real vested effort in the care they give to these patients, some who don't even have families to care or visit. I hope others will see this review and don't neglect the opportunity to speak out for someone who can't. It is very sad that this is the "set expectation" for caring for seniors. I've spoken to others who responded "yeah girl, that's the way it is, if a family member does not show up these patients sit only God knows how long waiting for someone to come and "Clean them up!"

Provider Response
