La Mirada Landmark Active Adult Community

My grandmother spent her last few years moving from place to place - assisted living facilities, nursing homes - but she never found one she considered "home" until she moved into the La Mirada Landmark Retirement Community. My grandmother, as well as the rest of the family (including myself), never had anything but great things to say about it. The community was great with the hospice staff and live-in nurses during her last few weeks. Everyone on staff, from the nurses to the guards at the gate, were always extremely kind, helpful, and welcoming. My grandmother lived there for 5 years and got a lot of use out of it's many amenities during that time. There was a food delivery service with good, quality food, for those who couldn't make it to the grocery store on their own anymore. The community itself had a pool, an aviary, a hot tub, a gym, tennis courts, and was right across the street from La Mirada's country club. It was full of lush trees, flowers, and other plants, as well as little squirrels and birds. My favorite part of this community is the freedom they gave the residents in decorating their house. That was a big part of the reason why my grandmother stayed there, but not other places. The fact that she was able to keep all of her belongings in her house (complete with her own garage, by the way) was very important to her.
