"Oakmont of Huntington Beach was fine. I didn't have anything negative about it. The only thing that is not attractive is the general location of it. It's kind of a busy area and it's not within that planned community atmosphere. The staff was very nice and the facility was very good."

"It is smaller and specializes in assisted living, but they've made it like a community. I toured both independent and assisted living. In most places, they usually have around 120 people, but this one is a smaller community. They do excursions and things. Their assisted living bedrooms were a lot smaller, but they were nice. They have a small little independent living section, although they specialize in assisted living and most people think of it as assisted living. It's nice because it's in a more rural area in Fullerton, so there's a horse trail along one side of the area. You can take your dog out there and watch the horses go by. Most assisted living and independent living places don't usually have a little yard for each individual apartment. It has one section for independent living where they each have a little yard that faces the trail, so that's where most people want to be. What I like about them is it was a little more rural."

"Park Plaza was a bigger facility, and it was very beautiful. The population was a bit older. The tour was nice. There was a lot of light, it was very pretty, but there was a community fee. They have transportation to the doctors, and also doctors who come to the premises. The staff were all very nice, very informative, and very willing to spend time with you. They have rooms on the first floor and the dining room. They have a library, but it was just a very tiny area with like four bookshelves on it. I hardly call that a library, but nowadays, that's what they call it. I give a rating of five on everything except for the community fee. The place looks brand new, and they said we have to redo the whole room when someone moves out. I don't believe that because these are seniors who are just barely getting around. They're not destructive. But I thought the facility itself was beautiful and a five in every way, but not for my sister. People tended to be a little bit older, and my sister is 73, so that's why I like the other place better, and the community fee is double the other place."

"They had secure doors so you can't just have anybody walk in there. I was impressed that it's a very large place and that it didn't have any smell. It had a nice fragrance to it. I was greeted, they took me around, showed me everything, and talked to me about things. The lady showed me the menu, and we went through different apartments, and saw what they looked like and they were a little bit larger than what I had thought they would be. Everyone was very friendly and I got all the information that I needed. They were doing their jobs and they were very polite. Even the residents were friendly. We passed someone in the hall and they said hello and asked how you were doing. It seemed like a nice, family-oriented place where things were taken care of. The tour was excellent and I was very impressed with it."

"The staff was very welcoming and warm. The facilities were quite nice. We were impressed. The room that we were considering had a nice view, but when we got down to selecting it, they told us that that room wasn't available and the other room was one that faced out to the parking lot, and we really didn't like that. The staff listened well and the gal that took us on the tour knew all the residents' names, so she greeted them by name and that was very impressive."

"We toured the Pacifica Senior Living South Coast's memory care unit. Their facility was a little more constrained, less open, and less of an area to live your life, I guess. The staff who assisted us during the tour was very cooperative and open enough to answer questions. The room we saw was very nice-looking and clean, but one thing we did not like about it was that it had a shared bathroom."

"We visited here, and they were very friendly, and very nice. They showed us around, they called back a couple of times, and we went for another visit. The staff was very friendly, very nice, made a great connection with us, and were very sincere."

"Capriana was a fantastic facility. It was very nice. There were lots of good things about it. I'm not sure how many guests they have. It's fairly new. They made some unusual statements to justify the fact that we didn't see anybody during our visit. My impression was that you're basically buying the rooms you're living in and hoping that you can sell it if you leave or die. I'm not going to pay $500,000 for that. I have not seen and read the details and contract, but it was enough to convince me I wouldn't do anything there. The rooms appear to be quite nice. The dining facilities were excellent. There's nothing at all wrong with the facility, but the approach is so extreme that I do not want to be involved in it. I don't want to spend my lifetime savings there and hope that if I die, it will somehow go back to my relatives so they can benefit from it. As far as the facility is concerned, it's great. But in terms of the agreement and the conditions under which you would move in, it's totally unacceptable. In terms of the facilities and services they seem to provide, I would give it a score of 5. Would I want to move in there? It's a 1, because of the contract and funds required. "

"We went to Bay Towers at Bixby Knolls. We loved it, but the price was too high for us. But it was so clean and so nice. It's a beautiful facility. Everything was well-kept. I liked that the floors were clean, and the rooms were maintained. It was a nice community, but it was too independent from my father-in-law. The dining room was beautiful. They had a nice table and nice chairs. It's also like their social room. It was very clean. They had a nice garden. The staff who gave the tour was very nice and very informative. The doors in the rooms were very wide and each room had a different doorknob like a bird, an anchor, or a butterfly. So they customized them for the residents. We wish my father-in-law could have done that, but he's beyond that level of independence. He needs more assistance."

"My aunt and uncle moved to Bayshire Yorba Linda. They can accommodate a lot of things. The grounds are kept clean and the atmosphere is very inviting. It was very spacious. It didn't seem like everything was kind of crammed in. The people that we met there were very helpful and very kind. We haven't run into any problems as far as helping my aunt and uncle. The food is very good. My uncle is not as social as my aunt. Even within memory care, they have a lot of activities to stimulate their brain, and to keep them busy. We've been very happy with the available activities. The value of memory care is awesome. It's pretty reasonable."

"The Meridian is my mom's choice because she likes it and thinks she would fit to it best. It is as nice place and they seem to have a lot of happy people there. Their rooms are larger than most of the facilities and it has a separate bedroom. It is more of a senior living, but it has assisted living attached to it so you can pay for what you need. "

"I toured Woodbridge Terrace of Irvine. I didn't think it had the level of care that the other facility had, but it was a beautiful place. The staff who gave the tour was great. She's fine. It was very pretty, very light, and bright. I liked it."

"Harbor Terrace seemed to be very well-kept, and the manager seemed to have some good ideas on how to help the people who are staying there. It’s clean and has a nice patio. They have a car that will take her to the doctor’s appointment a couple of times a month. The rooms are nice, clean but a little dated. She has other people she knows there who are happy, and my mom is happy there. "
