"The food at Ivy Park at Cerritos was excellent, but the price was high. They have a small library, a beauty salon, and housekeeping. The staff was nice. The dining area was pretty, though it didn't have the white tablecloths and everything. The room was fine, except it wasn't for me. I wanted a kitchen. It didn't have a kitchen, stove, or oven, but the space was average. It seemed to be kept up well."

"I was impressed with Walnut Village. It's sheer perfection. I would've been very happy going there, but it just wasn't time for me to go into that kind of a facility. The person during the tour was charming, very knowledgeable, and very pleasant. He made it sound like it would be wonderful. The dining area was like going to a very fancy restaurant. It was really a nice place. They also have a little coffee shop. I saw one woman working out in the gym with a trainer. Everybody was so pleasant and so happy. It's a lovely place."

"I live here in Independent Living and I love it. I moved here from another, smaller, senior community one year after my wife passed because this one has more residents and more chances for me to make friends. I immediately asked and was encouraged by senior staff to facillitate two mentally challenging discussion groups every week for people with like interests. They are still going strong and many of us have become good friends. I can't praise the staff enough for consistently providing excellent meals, activity opportunities, and overall cleanliness. I also can't praise my fellow residents enough; we have been successful enough in life (I retired 26 years ago as a high school principal.) to be able to enjoy this quality of life with our peers."

"I will be moving here. It was the first one I toured, and I was so impressed that I don't need to look at anything else. They include meals in a restaurant, or dining room, with a professional chef making meals. They look delicious and they make snacks. They will come in and do light laundry like sheets and towels and change your bed once a week. They will clean your apartment, sweep, vacuum, and dust, all that good stuff. They also have an arts and crafts building, a library, a TV, and a movie night, if anybody wants to get in that room and watch TV. They welcome pets, cats, and dogs. Also, a shuttle service that will go anywhere within ten miles. The front is made like a hotel, with a covered drive-through area porch. There's a butterfly garden, and I think they said they have a hummingbird garden. They have a big swimming pool. It was warm and spacious. The mailbox is close to the apartment, you didn't have to go far to get your mail. All the apartments or units are inside. So, if it's raining or something like that, you don't have to go out into the rain, and the shuttle that needs to pick you up comes in right into that big, covered drive-thru area. It's independent living, but, if you progressed to the point where you need assisted living or hospice care, you can get that without moving out of your apartment. The staff who gave me the tour, was courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. She knew her stuff. I haven't tried the food, but I've seen photos, and it looks good. They have a private dining room for things like birthday parties and stuff. You can have it either catered or you can have the food prepared by the professionals there. It's nice if you're having a birthday and you want to celebrate. They have arts and crafts, sculpting, painting, watercolor, and painting with acrylics. They also have barbecues and parties, and none of these things cost anything."

"I like the rooms at Harbor Terrace Retirement Community. I also like the location, the cleanliness, and the fact that they have a nail and hair salon. I also like that they give rides to the CVS, and to other places and activities that they do. There was a lot of pluses. They feed your family three times a day, and they have snack areas in case they get hungry in the meantime. They have can be on their own in their room if they choose to. Their dining area looks adequate. It gives the seniors a chance to sit down and talk, and eat together."

"I thought the moving my dad in was going to be hard just because its a new environment but my dad adapted very well and that was because the staff welcomed him with open arms as if they had already met him before. I've gone everyday since then to visit him and he just seems so happy being there. I'm glad i made this move where not only is my dad happy but i'm happy and comfortable with him being there."

"Park Plaza is my second choice. I interacted more with the personnel there than at the other places I've toured. The landscaping and everything were very well-kept. They have a library, and a beauty salon and they have an area set up almost like a movie theater with seats and a big screen TV. It was very nice. There were three floors, they showed me around the first floor, which is where my mother would be. That was assisted living with a higher level of assistance and that's what we need. She showed me the dining room and the menu looks very good. They've had the same chef for quite a few years."

"It was very pleasant, neat and clean. There were three people during the visit and they were all very handy and very helpful. The dining area was very pleasant. They had all kinds of activities like Bingo and arts and crafts, and they had an exercise area."

"My aunt and uncle moved to Bayshire Yorba Linda. They can accommodate a lot of things. The grounds are kept clean and the atmosphere is very inviting. It was very spacious. It didn't seem like everything was kind of crammed in. The people that we met there were very helpful and very kind. We haven't run into any problems as far as helping my aunt and uncle. The food is very good. My uncle is not as social as my aunt. Even within memory care, they have a lot of activities to stimulate their brain, and to keep them busy. We've been very happy with the available activities. The value of memory care is awesome. It's pretty reasonable."

"I chose it for my mom because it had very nice grounds and she likes nature, so she had some space to walk around. I liked the quietness and peacefulness. The dining hall and the food were both good. The residents seemed to be in good shape. The staff were nice and helpful although I thought she would get more support but I ended up getting her a companion to be with her. The place was nice for someone who was more independent than my mom. "

"We toured Brookdale South Bay (CA). The people were very, very friendly. It was prompt, and I didn't have to wait around. The facility was very well-kept. I was very impressed with the chef, the calendar, and the things that were offered to the residents. So, it was a very, very, nice experience. I saw a one-bedroom apartment that had not been renovated, and I would be looking for a larger apartment because that was small for me and my husband. It was not large enough."
