Independent Living Communities in Westminster, CA

"It's a good facility. There are various selections of rooms to pick from - studios, one bedroom, and two bedroom. We got the two bedroom one for grandma and grandpa. They use one room to sleep in and one room as the reading/work room. The living room has a sofa and TV, and the kitchenette has a simple stove and a small refrigerator. Chores are included in the monthly payment; everything from cleaning to taking out the trash is taken care of. There are numerous amenities in the facility, including a thermostat and a balcony. Central to all the units is a courtyard. Residents can swim or just lounge around in one of the chairs. There's also an exercise facility on site as well as a library. If residents want to leave the facility, there is a transportation vehicle that will take them to the grocery market, doctor, etc, as long as the location is within a certain mile radius. For a monthly cost that is under $3000, we think that this is an affordable, nice place for my grandparents to spend their last years. "

"Everything at Fairview Commons is a 1-bedroom apartment. It's all new so it's a little spiffier and very nice. It seemed like the people who live there are a little more independent than the other place I visited. I came at a happy hour which was a Friday, and they had quite a very nice spread of snacks. It was definitely a little more upscale and somewhere I would like to go. They have a designated arts and crafts room. I like the décor the most, it was very modern, updated and the place was clean and fresh. It looked like some place I wouldn't mind living in myself. They said you can add on services as you need them. They had the dining room where you can have 2 meals a day. And the apartments have a full size refrigerator and a cooktop so you could make something you want to eat. It was very nice. The chef was very friendly and very proud of the food. I didn't eat it but the menu looked good. They were also having snacks where they're serving beer and wine at this common area, and it looked pretty well-attended, people were having a conversation and it was lively. They had an arts and crafts room, a library and screening room combination where they also play puzzles and board games. It's quite open and airy, and there are also a lot of outdoor areas we could lounge. It looks very nice, but I also felt that you need to be a little more independent. I thought it's a little far of a walk from the apartment to the dining room. Apparently there are apartments that are closer, but not close enough for somebody who can't walk far. Although I did see people walking with walkers, so I guess if you have a walker it's fine. I only had interaction with the sales person but she was nice. They don’t have a swimming pool there, but they have a fireplace in the living room that's connected to this common room. The residents were dressed nicely, and they seemed pretty happy to be there like they're enjoying it."

"I toured and the place is spotless and very pleasant. All the residents there seemed very happy to be there. The staff was very professional and very kind to the residents. It was not a large area but it was very pleasant. It was shaded with lots of chairs and umbrellas. They had raised flower beds for the residents to do some planting activity, so it's really nice."

"After checking out about a dozen assisted living places all over the OC area I decided to check this place out in Newport Beach.. It had high reviews, close to my house, and it didn’t hurt to look at this place for mom. I went with mom to see this place and her and I were very impressed with the place, lobby area, staff, and restaurant in the place.. The staff from every department is so nice and go out of their way to make you feel like home.. Activites galore at this place. Mom took a roomy studio at this place and loved it from the very first day she moved in. Great place to meet quality people.. Highly recommended to people that are serious about a top notch assistant living place.. 5 Stars... Jeff"

"It has been a positive experience with Artesia Christian Home for the most part. My mom's room is pretty nice. It's a 1-bedroom with a full bath and kitchenette. The facility is also pretty nice and above average. They have a lot of activities for the residents, and the food is pretty good. The place is really clean and it's been kept up really well. They have nice furniture in the lounging areas."

"We looked around here. It looked like a very nice place. It had smaller rooms and had lots of activities. I saw some ladies making goody bags for the policemen because of some civic activities that they were doing. Some people were playing cards at a table and they had a nice little area that had refreshments and desserts. I saw games and exercises. The girl that took us around was super nice. The people seemed very friendly and every time you walk past someone, they would say hi. It had a very nice patio and a really huge dining area, which was more like a cafeteria. It was very nice."

"I will move into Sunnycrest Senior Living. It has a great program, the food is good, and the programs they put on during the day and at various times look interesting. It's close to a good hiking path or for walking. The atmosphere is great. The tenants that I met all seemed happy. It was clean and wonderfully kept, and had a nice courtyard. All the rooms were very nice. They have a gym, libraries, card playing, game rooms, and stuff like that. They were wonderful. All the people I met were first class."

"My favorite place is Ivy Park at Cerritos. I went there two weeks ago. I liked it, and they invited me to the Easter egg hunt last Friday, so my mother and I went. They asked us to stay for lunch, so we sat in the dining area, had lunch, and everything was perfect. It seems like it's well-managed. There were lots of employees and all the residents living there are all well taken care of. There's a lot of help. The staff was very nice. It was very clean. There are a lot of facilities, a lot of places where residents can go and play with puzzles or Monopoly or something. There were lots of rooms for them to enjoy themselves and be together. I liked it. The atmosphere was very friendly and very open. Residents were walking around when you walked in. They're very friendly, saying hi, and welcoming us."

"I'll be moving here. I've gone by and stopped in to talk to people. It was very clean, very comfortable, and very appealing, and the staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. They offered for me to try the food but I declined. I thought their facilities were great, I wouldn't have agreed to rent there if there were any discrepancies about it. They have a courtyard area, they have a billiard table on one floor, they have all the available laundry facilities, and there's nice dining that's kind of all together. It's a companion-type area and you're together with other people, not stuck in your room eating by yourself or something."

"I went to Atria Golden Creek. Both memory care and assisted living had a great bunch of people. It's a nice facility. It had good caregiver programs for memory care. It's a nice physical layout. The salespeople were very informative and very kind. It looks like a great place. They have an intensive scheduled program, music, art, trips, well-scheduled days and nights, and a good ratio of caregivers. The rooms were very well designed and attractive. It was well run and it's an aesthetically appealing environment. The people I interacted with were excellent."

"My dad is here. It is fantastic in every aspect of care. They make sure the residents are OK and if they need any help. The apartments are small but efficient. They're very clean, very nice, and very new. The dining room is large. They also have a separate family dining room. If a family comes to see the residents, they can all be in a private dining room. They have a salad bar. It is very nice. It feels like a restaurant. Everyday on the calendar is filled with activities. They have a man cave and a workout room. They have outings, movies, speakers, and entertainment. There is never lack of a choice for something to do. "

"I toured Bay Towers at Bixby Knolls. I liked that independent living was separate from assisted living. I liked all of it. The downstairs space was really pretty. The library and the dining room were really nice. There was an activity room and a huge outdoor patio, which were really nice. So, I loved the spaces. They looked great. The apartments were small compared to where we're living now, but they looked fine and very clean. The staff who gave the tour was very nice, enthusiastic, and a good speaker."

"Oakmont of Capriana is relatively small, like 100 people, and it's a CCRC, which is what we're looking for. In the independent living, the apartments were relatively large with high ceilings and they had nice views (the place we're looking at has a view of a garden and a koi pond). Then over beyond, there's a pool. It had all the amenities: the gym, the library, and things like that. The staff was all very helpful. Everybody was friendly. They responded to phone calls and they were just very good. We had great food there and we met with residents and talked with them. It was a good experience. They also do a great job with the cleanliness."

"I visited The Meridian at Anaheim Hills and toured their memory care for my mom. It was nice and organized, and everybody was very caring. It seemed like it had good activity programs. The memory care was clean and well-organized. They had a dining area and an activity room. The staff who toured me around was also very knowledgeable."
