"I like Rowntree Gardens. It is very good. I like the concept. They have shared rooms, which are nice. Also the sliding door to the garden is nice. The dining area is very accessible to the patients. I like that, too. I like the lady who gave me the tour. Each room is accessible to the garden, they just have a walking area. It's very relaxing for the clients. They have a gazebo garden there. Families can visit in that area, too. The building is one level, so that's nice. I didn't see any staff because of the COVID."

"I looked at Park Plaza, and it was very nice. I liked the patio, the library, the swimming pool, and the size of the rooms. I like the way it's set up like little apartments. "

"Westmont of Cypress was practically brand new. Everything was shiny and had a nice finish to it. It had an exercise pool, which I found would be very helpful. You could walk in the pool for exercise. They gave us lunch, and it was delicious. Everybody seemed very friendly. What I didn't like was that it was all concrete with just a few shrubs around it. There was a nice patio, but there was absolutely no green space. The staff who assisted us with the tour was very helpful. She sat us down to lunch and said she'd be back, but she never came back. And so, we finally just left on our own."

"This was one of the better assisted living facilities I've ever visited as a student volunteer. The institution is divided into two wards: those who need constant medical attention and supervision and those who can care for themselves. Every week, I visited the later ward to provide some recreational activities. Each of the residents gets their own room and bathroom, which they decorated with their personal touch. The overall atmosphere is a gentile and friendly one. A few of the residents gets upset or depressed because they haven't seen their family in a while. But some of the residents who have lived there longer try to cheer them up by inviting them to tea or some recreational game. The supervisors always make sure that the residents have something to do most of the time. They have an aviary with some of the most charming singing birds, and a rec room with musical instruments and books. I understand that to upkeep a facility like this one comes at a considerable costs, which is the main compliant I've heard from other families. But, their loved ones receive the care that they should be receiving from home."

My father has been treated with respect and the utmost, attentive care. Meridian staff has established stellar communication with our family. We were ALWAYS made aware of any concerns or steps taken on my dad's behalf. We completely trust the integrity of the leadership and staff. The Meridian has been a safe harbor in our maiden voyage through my father's "golden years"....(Highest recommendation!)"

"We have been there several times. It’s very close to me, and they have a lot of activities; that’s why I was impressed with them. They have activities going on like normal day to day operation, piano, and bingo -- just about anything you really want. "

"It was very pleasant, neat and clean. There were three people during the visit and they were all very handy and very helpful. The dining area was very pleasant. They had all kinds of activities like Bingo and arts and crafts, and they had an exercise area."

"It is very nice, but more geared towards being a retirement place. My dad didn't like the fact that my mom have to take one elevator, then through an area, then up another elevator. It wasn't a very direct way to get to the rooms, and it's a large community. The staff who accommodated us was very helpful and very nice, it was a very pleasant experience. We checked the dining area and it was lovely. It was a very nice place, but it's just a little bit too big for my dad. We also checked the rooms."

"I went to Park View Place. The apartment has huge, huge doors. They had stoves. It was an inductive stove. They had a bedroom and a living room. There was a nice bathroom. All of them have walk-in showers. It had a shower seat, one of the teakwood or whatever it is, shower seats. They had a restaurant. We ate there. They had tablecloths and silver service. It was upscale and elegant. The dining room chairs are like what you would have in your house. The furnishings were a little more upscale. The decor that they decided on at Parkview was different but still new."

"My ex-husband lived in Oakmont in Huntington Beach. I spoke to them. They're very nice, but they are more expensive than where he is now. That would probably be the main thing. Oakmont is very nice. It's a very good place, very nice place, very clean, and has nice people. They do all the levels of care, and they have the memory care unit on the first floor. I think it's three levels, and he was on the second level. When you go in there from the hospital, sometimes you need more help at the beginning. Later on, he got to where he didn't need much help, so the price went down. It's flexible, depending on how much care you need. The food was really good. They have a beautiful dining room. I would go there and have dinner with him. It certainly had really really good food. I like the ambiance. It's really pretty. It's like living in a really pretty hotel. The cleanliness is excellent. You're paying more. It demands a higher price because it's very well-kept. They're very good. They're very nice there, and everyone is really friendly."

"What I liked the least about Bay Towers at Bixby Knolls was the other fees that are not included in the regular rent. It's going to make it hard for us to be able to afford it because of the add-on fees. The apartments were beautiful. They have two common areas that are nice. They have two patio areas outside where you can go and just sit out and relax, and get some air. Their kitchen area was nice. It was really clean where the residents have dinner and have meals. It was very, very nice and very clean. Then there was the library. It was nice, too. They have nail sessions where they come out and they do the individual's nails. The elevators work really well. It smelled nice there. It smelled like a building and not like a nursing home. It didn't have the stench of cleaning fluid or urine. It was nice. We would love for our mom to be there. It's just the price is not going to allow us to have her there."

"We toured the Pacifica Senior Living South Coast's memory care unit. Their facility was a little more constrained, less open, and less of an area to live your life, I guess. The staff who assisted us during the tour was very cooperative and open enough to answer questions. The room we saw was very nice-looking and clean, but one thing we did not like about it was that it had a shared bathroom."

"West Park Senior Living was a very nice place. The staff was very friendly and very organized. They called all the residents by name. I really enjoyed the tour. The facility was very clean. The staff showed me some apartments and it was all very nice. The residents were doing exercises at that time. I had a meal there and it was very nice. It was better than I expected. They had a menu and they explained what the off-menu was. If you just wanted a hamburger or eggs and bacon, they explained all that. But I ate what was on the menu. The dining area was set up restaurant style. The grounds were lovely. They were in a woodsy area, and the staff showed me a room with that view. It was just lovely. The room size was adequate for one person."
