"I went to Bentley Commons at Paragon Village. It was a very nice facility, a very spacious room, even the common rooms were a nice size. They were big and roomy. The staff was pleasant. They had a cafe where you could go and read in the cafe. They had a nice-sized room where they played different games and bingo. They had a nice little gazebo outside that the residents could go and sit on them. I saw the dining area, and it was very roomy."

"I visited Mira Vie at West Milford a few weeks ago. It's closer to where I live. It's a very nice facility. The rooms are very nice and very spacious. They have a lot of activities for the seniors. She showed me the dining area and the game room. They seemed to keep their seniors pretty active. It's pretty expensive, but there are options where you can have an apartment suite that you share with someone else to reduce costs. They even have a daycare option. Let's say you're going on vacation, and you need someone to watch your loved one; they could take someone for up to 30 days. It's a short-term thing. So, that was good to know. The seniors I met there seemed like they were happy. They were engaged with one another doing activities. Some people were reading. Some people were playing cards. The facility is nice. The neighborhood is beautiful. The grounds, the campus, everything was very nice. The sample room she showed me had everything that was needed. It had a little kitchenette with a microwave and a sink. It was really nice and very clean. No odors and very well kept. The lady I spoke to actually lives in my town and works over there. The facilities are beautiful. The rooms are beautiful. Everything was very updated. Everyone was very friendly, very welcoming, and answered all my questions. They understood my concerns about my dad being in a safe place. They explained all the care services. Of course, the more care you need, the more it costs, but they pretty much provide everything that you could need. I didn't see any food, but I saw a menu, and it looked like a variety of different kinds of food, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's very clean, very well decorated, and very well lit. Everything is accessible in the case of those who have wheelchairs. One of the exercise instructors came by and said hello. It was a very friendly staff. It seems like a very well-maintained facility."

"My mother is here. We chose it because it was a beautiful place, like a resort. It's very nice. She gets assistance with bathing. Her medication is given to her, so she doesn't have to worry about her own schedule. The staff is very helpful. I don't see everything that they do, but my mother likes it there. She doesn't get involved in them, but they have all kinds of activities. They have people come in and entertain. They have games. They have happy hour, and they have a theater. The facility is very clean and homey. They don't take any kind of Medicaid, so I'm running out of money really fast. They take people out on excursions and shopping trips. They have a mini bus to take them out like to lunch. It's good for anybody who can afford to live there."

"My grandfather has been a resident for the past year. I am extremely happy with the staff as they treat my grandfather as family. The facility is clean and has a cozy home like setting. I can see the difference in my grandfather as he is participating with others and joins in activities daily. "

"I liked Mira Vie at Montville very much out of all the ones that I've seen. It was very warm and inviting. The staff was very friendly and it pretty much had everything that my mom would need. The facilities were very, very clean. It's not a brand new facility but everything seems to be well-maintained and very spacious. The lady who gave the tour was very good, too."

"Sycamore Living is brand new. It just opened in the spring. It's on the small side, but I don't know how many residents they have, I think it's under 50. It's modern and clean. My mother's been there for 2-1/2 weeks now. The staff is very informative, and they've been calling and keeping us posted on how my mother's doing, so the communication is very good. I guess the food is fine; I haven't heard any complaints. I like it. It's very open. My mother's in a private room, but I would know better if I was able to visit her and I was walking in the hallway. I only had a tour of the facility, so it's hard to say. It just looked very nice. It was an office building that was reconfigured to make it into a nursing home or whatever you call these facilities. They have assisted living, long-term care, and rehab. It's a large building, and it's brand new."

"I have been a resident of Juniper Villlage Chatham for four years and I love my life here. Our residence is attractively decorated, surrounded by landscaped lawn and gardens which we enjoy in good weather. I give our management, staff and workers credit for Juniper Village's excellence. We have an outstanding activities program from which to choose: daily exercises, discussion groups, music programs, a book club, movies in our theatre, a knitting group, indoor sports such as bocce, word games, bingo, bridge. We go in our van to local programs such as plays, movies, music and to the Jersey shore in summer. We have a talented chef and our healthful meals change seasonally and include fresh fruit and vegetables daily. Our driver takes us to medical and dental appointments in the area, for local shopping and to Sunday religious services. What's not to love about living at Juniper Village! "

"My wife was in Barn Hill, and I would say it was a nice place. I thought the care was very good. They even greeted me like an old friend. I liked it. She was in the Alzheimer's section, and they take care of them great. They had a movie almost every day, and when they didn't have a movie, they played games, they had a little activity going on, and we know that most Alzheimer's patients can't do everything. I thought it was a section that was specialized for Alzheimer's or people like that, and it was very good. They don't let them walk alone; the staff there was excellent. It seemed like an older facility. I think it was a nice clean place even as the older section. Anything that was dropped on the floor was quickly picked up; it was clean. Everything seemed to be in order, great. It was good. "

"My dad loved living at Merriam Manor, he was there for 2 years. The staff is caring, concerned, and helps with all duties of daily living. The food is good, home made meals, vegetables, fruit, puddings, roasts, mashed potatoes. The activity includes bingo, karaoke, cards, bouncing a ball. The rooms are very clean, some have stained glass, marble fireplace, high ceilings, wood floors. The family room is nice with large furniture and a large flat screen TV, book shelves. You feel like living at home, not a facility."

"I chose this place because I am not comfortable with the nursing home setting where it's a shared bathroom and having to be bathed and washed in line. This place has a homey feeling, because my parents will have their own apartment and will have their own bath and shower here. This facility is not very new, but it's well kept. This is an assisted living facility with a dementia unit. There's a lot outdoor grass and trees and places to sit. It seems like you're out in the countryside. It was very nice and impressive. Inside, there are several rooms where residents could be in groups; I think this is very healthy. I've also observed activities for residents during my visit. It was a pleasant day during that time so they were playing bingo in the front lawn. But aside from this, there are also arts and crafts, exercise and dance programs or outings in stores and other places for residents who are able. I can't think of anything this facility needs to improve since my parents are not yet residing here. However, I've heard a lot of good things from family members of residents, and that's a big thing already. "

"What I liked the most about Westwind Manor was the personal attention given to each family. My uncle stayed there before and his room was spacious, clean, very welcoming, and homey. The staff was very professional and intuitive. They were also extremely friendly and kind. They had many activities like music, crafts, and celebrations. They provided well-balanced homemade meals too."

"Amazing facility. Excellent care. Nicole is amazing. She’s the manager and lives on premises with her husband. Nicole and her staff are beyond compassionate. Dad is happy. Before colonial he missed mom so much he did nothing at home wouldn’t eat depressed and not even excited to see the grandkids. He’s a completely different man since moving to colonial. He does the activities that he likes, he has physical therapy there, sees the facility doctor in person once a month at colonial manor, loves the food, loves the girls (staff) and like when Bentley the dog stops in to say hello. Nicole runs a clean, neat, dignified, compassion, fun and lively facility. Come to her for anything you will always have a solution. She’s been through it all and is very experienced. Everyone loves her. When you have managers that are physically involved in every aspect of their residents every single day THAT is why truly makes colonial Manor at panther valley stand out from all other facilities. I will continue to recommend this facility to my work buddies for their mom or dad, my neighbors, anyone who I can. Last did I mention the nurses and the nurses aides. Such well driven competent intelligent over the top caring group of women as well. Nicole and andrew really hold their staff at the highest ranking and guide them each day how to deal with certain things out of the daily routine. I always think to myself, imagine if colonial manor extended their assisted care! Now that would be beneficial to all future families in need. For now, they will stay on the waiting list. Thank you folks. Have a look for yourself inside by a tour with Nicole. "

"Forest Manor was very spacious, they had a lock down unit, and they also had in long-term care. They had a very large physical therapy area and a nice outside area. The atmosphere was not quite as homey; it’s sterile, but it still met the needs of the person we need to find a place for. "

"When going there nothing in particular stood out as being bad or out of touch. I haven't visited any other facilities so it is hard to compare this to others. However I noticed there were activities to do there and everyone for the most part seemed busy either watching tv, or doing another activity. The staff also seemed nice and chatted a bit with my grandma. Their was a good vibe from the other people there to and a couple people even went out of their way to talk to our family and tell us how much they appreciate my grandmother and one even went out of his way to ask if we wanted to play dominoes with him(I gladly accepted). My grandma didn't have any complaints about the food and said it was actually pretty good. The portions were relatively generous. I think overall it was a good facility and had a very caring staff and was full of nicer old people. "

"My mother stayed at Heath Village. The people were nice and took care of her, but it was cost prohibitive for her to stay there longer. She went to physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. She watched TV and they had entertainment come in. They had three restaurants inside their complex. She was in a room with another patient when she was there. They had bus rides to go shopping and to different events."
