"My tour at Mt. Arlington Senior Living was good; they just couldn't accommodate my father. They showed us the memory care. It's hard for them to adjust to someone with Alzheimer's who is mobile. It was a beautiful facility. The people were nice. They sat down and explained to us how they work, how to pay, how they get the medication, and do all that stuff. They showed us where he'd be staying, the dining room, and the lounge area. At this point, it was a shared room because we were just putting him in there temporarily. They would have freedom to roam. They had their own balconies where they could go out and get some sunshine, and also sit down. They had a lounge where they could sit down and watch TV and congregate to the best of their ability. Everybody was very nice. The meal that they gave us was good."

"The memory care unit is an amazing place! Top notch. As an anesthesia provider CRNA, I am extremely detail oriented and medically aware and so I observed and evaluated all aspects of care before placing my Mom. First and foremost- the environment they have created comes from a place of respect from the staff towards every resident and their needs. Without exception, I observed the staff interacting in a loving and caring way. They were friendly, upbeat, smiling and hard working. Meals are served on cloth tablecloths with cloth napkins and my Mom loved ordering from a menu with many choices. They guided her through the menu and she felt like she was at a fancy restaurant every day. The food was delicious and healthy and her physical status quickly improved. She always wanted me to leave a big tip! The staff are exceptional and well trained in Alzheimer’s care. There is such a cheerful and positive atmosphere. It functions with a sense of calm and serenity that put my Mom at ease. The staff quickly learned the little nuances about my Mom and the stage of her disease. She was so happy there! They respected her and she in return respected them. They shared tidbits of themselves so she felt like they were part of her extended family and she even remembered their names. My Mom’s room was spacious, clean and inviting. We decorated it with many personal items so it felt like home to her. The meal times and activities kept her engaged and busy throughout the day. She felt loved and safe so it wasn’t difficult to leave after a visit. She felt safe and secure in her new home. We are so grateful for the exceptional care the staff gave my Mom and my entire family. We all knew she was living in an amazing place and was well loved in her final days. "

"I visited Mira Vie at West Milford a few weeks ago. It's closer to where I live. It's a very nice facility. The rooms are very nice and very spacious. They have a lot of activities for the seniors. She showed me the dining area and the game room. They seemed to keep their seniors pretty active. It's pretty expensive, but there are options where you can have an apartment suite that you share with someone else to reduce costs. They even have a daycare option. Let's say you're going on vacation, and you need someone to watch your loved one; they could take someone for up to 30 days. It's a short-term thing. So, that was good to know. The seniors I met there seemed like they were happy. They were engaged with one another doing activities. Some people were reading. Some people were playing cards. The facility is nice. The neighborhood is beautiful. The grounds, the campus, everything was very nice. The sample room she showed me had everything that was needed. It had a little kitchenette with a microwave and a sink. It was really nice and very clean. No odors and very well kept. The lady I spoke to actually lives in my town and works over there. The facilities are beautiful. The rooms are beautiful. Everything was very updated. Everyone was very friendly, very welcoming, and answered all my questions. They understood my concerns about my dad being in a safe place. They explained all the care services. Of course, the more care you need, the more it costs, but they pretty much provide everything that you could need. I didn't see any food, but I saw a menu, and it looked like a variety of different kinds of food, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's very clean, very well decorated, and very well lit. Everything is accessible in the case of those who have wheelchairs. One of the exercise instructors came by and said hello. It was a very friendly staff. It seems like a very well-maintained facility."

"I love Spring Village at Pocono. I spoke with some of the residents, and they love it there. What I like about them is that they put a certain level of people on one floor, another level on another floor, and another level for the people that have dementia or whatever, and I like that. And then on the second floor is where they have people that were like my mother-in-law who need somebody to give you medication and who need help bathing and dressing and things like that. So I like the way they match people up. The people on the first floor are the ones who can walk to the dining area, which is very nice with tablecloths and plate settings. The staff showed me a room where my mother-in-law would be close to the elevator versus being down the hall, so this guy was amazing. He's wonderful. I met the girl at the desk, and she was nice, too. It's a very high rating facility. I would go there myself. You could get a single room and a shared room. And it was reasonably priced. The activities room was long and big, so you could go there and do puzzles and adult coloring. They have all that stuff there. There's a nice sitting room to watch TV. They play bingo. They make trips to the casino and to the mall. It was just a nice place. With their menu, if you didn't like what was today, you can order off another menu. For breakfast, they had scrapple and grits, and I loved that. I met the lady in the dining hall, and she was nice, too."

"Mira Vie at Brookfield was terrific. The staff who gave the tour was terrific, too. She showed me everything she possibly could show me. They were having a live music presentation at the time, and I was looking at the group of people in there listening and watching. Most were bobbing their heads or keeping time with the music with their feet. They all seemed to be enjoying it. I got a look at the entire week's activity on the main bulletin board in the lobby, so you're able to see what's going to happen on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday, and so forth, and so it was very well organized. I looked at the dining room and it was neat and clean, too. The staff showed me a one-person room. It had all the amenities that you could need for one person, including a step-in shower with grips. They show movies every so often, and the staff said that the movie room is always open if for some reason one of the residents can't sleep, and they want to just come down and put on a movie of their choosing, they can do that. I met the chaplain over there. He seemed very nice. After we were all done with everything, the staff took me to a conference room. We sat down and we probably talked for a good 45 minutes to an hour. She answered any questions that I had and filled in any gaps she might have left out. She gave me her card and told me she was going to stay in touch with me. I felt very, very comfortable over there. And the staff that we passed, whether they were in the hall or they were going somewhere, they all said hi, smiled, nodded, or whatever. They can arrange transportation for you. You can use their medical people or they'll take you to your own doctor of choice. It just seemed to have everything."

"I liked Mira Vie at Montville very much out of all the ones that I've seen. It was very warm and inviting. The staff was very friendly and it pretty much had everything that my mom would need. The facilities were very, very clean. It's not a brand new facility but everything seems to be well-maintained and very spacious. The lady who gave the tour was very good, too."
