"Mt Arlington Senior Living is great. Upon arrival, my mother and I were immediately happy with the friendly staff and clean, comfortable facilities. She’s made friends and has the quality of life we both were seeking for her. Everyone I spoke with was knowledgeable and friendly. Transitioning is difficult at her age; I feel satisfied that the right choice was made."

"My dad moved to Twin Cedar Senior Living. The place is small. It's not very big. It may have 30 people in it. It's out in the country, and it's a nice place. Their nurses are nice. Their staff is nice. He shares a room with someone, but all they do is sleep in there. They have a big spot where they all go to watch TV. They have an indoor bird sanctuary thing. They have a movie room. They have a patio where they can go out and sit. It's nice and it's close to my house, so I could go there and take him out for dinner if I want, or I could take him for the weekend and then bring him back. My dad says the food is good. They serve him food, dinner, and then they serve him dessert and everything like that. The facility is very clean. The bathrooms could be a little bit nicer and a little bit cleaner. Their sink and stuff are older, and their showers are older, but it seems okay. They're not expensive."

"I went to The Carlucci Home - Assisted Living for Ladies. It was a really wonderful tour. The nurses on-staff and the woman who runs the organization were incredibly friendly and informative. I felt like I learned a lot about what a high level of care that my grandma deserves, and I just felt very supported. I think it's about 20 bedrooms. It's incredibly clean and well set up. There's a lot of nurses on-staff. They seemed really kind and caring. They had both semiprivate and private rooms. They had a number of activities that they do, like a number of crafting activities (and I know there's more than that). The food looked really good. We were there when they were eating lunch, and it looked delicious."

"I visited Mira Vie at West Milford a few weeks ago. It's closer to where I live. It's a very nice facility. The rooms are very nice and very spacious. They have a lot of activities for the seniors. She showed me the dining area and the game room. They seemed to keep their seniors pretty active. It's pretty expensive, but there are options where you can have an apartment suite that you share with someone else to reduce costs. They even have a daycare option. Let's say you're going on vacation, and you need someone to watch your loved one; they could take someone for up to 30 days. It's a short-term thing. So, that was good to know. The seniors I met there seemed like they were happy. They were engaged with one another doing activities. Some people were reading. Some people were playing cards. The facility is nice. The neighborhood is beautiful. The grounds, the campus, everything was very nice. The sample room she showed me had everything that was needed. It had a little kitchenette with a microwave and a sink. It was really nice and very clean. No odors and very well kept. The lady I spoke to actually lives in my town and works over there. The facilities are beautiful. The rooms are beautiful. Everything was very updated. Everyone was very friendly, very welcoming, and answered all my questions. They understood my concerns about my dad being in a safe place. They explained all the care services. Of course, the more care you need, the more it costs, but they pretty much provide everything that you could need. I didn't see any food, but I saw a menu, and it looked like a variety of different kinds of food, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's very clean, very well decorated, and very well lit. Everything is accessible in the case of those who have wheelchairs. One of the exercise instructors came by and said hello. It was a very friendly staff. It seems like a very well-maintained facility."

"I went to Bentley Commons at Paragon Village. Their independent living facility was in one building and their assisted living was in another. They're completely separate there. The independent building was great, and the assisted living reminded us a little bit more of a nursing home. The independent living rooms were very nice, probably the nicest and the biggest out of all that we saw."

"The Sunrise of Randolph is located in the northern half of New Jersey and is not too far from the city. While it is not the most impressive assisted living center that I have seen, it is in a great location for anyone living in the metropolitan area who wants to be able to quickly visit an elderly loved one. The Sunrise of Randolph has all the standard amenities found at any good, well maintained assisted living center. There are nice gardens, entertainment rooms, and a salon. The staff members were quite friendly as well. There are always staff members present to look after your loved ones. In addition to assisted living care and basic medical care, the staff members also help keep your loved ones safe. The place really is quite nice. While I have been to nicer places, I would not be unhappy if I were an elderly resident at the Sunrise of Randolph. Overall, 4/5. "

"Spring Village at Pocono was very nice, the staff was very pleasant, and it was affordable. The dining area was very nice and it looked like we walked into a restaurant. They had a menu available for the day. The activities and the menu were in various spots throughout the facility, such as the elevator, so the residents are well aware of what's going on. They have shopping trips into town and I saw some residents in the middle of playing Bingo. There's a multitude of rooms. There's a large screen setup where residents were watching television. There were two parts to the facility, one was assisted living and the other was more intensive care. It's a 3-floor facility and the third floor was for residents with more extensive needs."

"I toured the Sunrise of Mountain Lakes. It's a new place in New Jersey and I looked at their assisted living. I liked everything about it. My sister is in a wheelchair and the facility is large so I think it would accommodate her better. She has a larger wheelchair and the apartments there has a lot more room to move around when you're in it. If you need the Hoyer lift, that's available there too. There's also room in the living room and the bedroom to be able to use the Hoyer lift. She doesn't need one right now, but if any time she needs it, it will be available. The bathroom has a large shower, enough that you could get a wheelchair in there to transfer the person onto a seat. In the kitchenette area, you can pull right up to the sink to wash your hands or wash a cup. They accommodate people a lot better there and everything is more accessible to people who are in a wheelchair. The whole place is new and the person that I spoke to was very accommodating as far as giving me information and showing me around. The day I was there, there was a fire alarm that went off and they were all apologetic. I said, "Oh, no. I'm happy and this is perfect because I can see how you take care of your people here." They were really quick and were able to make sure everyone was safe. What happened was there was a problem in the laundry room but it was very nice to see that all the employees were everywhere right away. Certain things came down to block the people so that they don't go wandering off during a fire drill. I felt that it was very educational for me. I did not make an appointment so when I walked in, I asked the girl at the reception desk if I could speak to this person. When that person came out, she said my name right away and said, "Thank you for coming all the way up from Florida" like she knew who I was. It was also not one of those things where I had to wait a few minutes and have her look me up before she came out to greet me. I thought that was very nice."

"I visited the Promenade. As soon as I walked in, they greeted us, and then the head person came and gave us a tour. The rooms were really nice. The only thing I was disappointed in was that they didn't have like a small refrigerator or any cabinet in the area like to keep some snacks or stuff like that. They were a little on the small side. The dining area looked fine; it was nice. They had quite extensive activities -- movies, outings, trips. I liked best the activities' area and activities that they offered, and they were in the process of building a new, beautiful room for the activities' area. "

"The rooms at Sunrise of Morris Plains were very nice and had both one-bedroom and the two-bedrooms available. I had a little problem with its outdoors; I think my husband would have been restricted because they didn’t have walls high enough for him. He’s quite physical and is just not going to sit in a rocking chair, which would be so much easier if he did, and has escaped before. It was lunch time, so they were all eating, but the group my husband would be in had their own little space to eat, which was fine. They brought the food on a hot cart so everything was hot. Everything was fine, except that I didn’t want him to be just kind of confined to a couple of rooms with his situation. "

"I liked Mira Vie at Montville very much out of all the ones that I've seen. It was very warm and inviting. The staff was very friendly and it pretty much had everything that my mom would need. The facilities were very, very clean. It's not a brand new facility but everything seems to be well-maintained and very spacious. The lady who gave the tour was very good, too."

"I toured CareOne at Parsippany Assisted Living. I like the whole facility. It was very clean. People were nice. The food was great because they were eating lunch when I went there. The whole facility was A-plus. They had physical therapy. They had the whole nine yards. They took care of their fields very well in that place. I looked at the rooms. They showed me an unfinished room, but they were very spacious. The staff was very good."

"My father-in-law was a temporary resident there. The staff was terrific. He celebrated his birthday while he was there. They made him feel so special and not forgotten on his special day. In a world that moves too fast, it is refreshing to see people who genuinely care. Their kindness did not go unnoticed, and it is a reminder that good exists in everyday moments and we can lift each other up!"

"We visited a year ago, so everything was under COVID regulations. We only got to visit the rooms and dining room, but no one was being taken out to the dining room or going in activities because of COVID. The place was beautiful and very clean. The rooms were lovely. The staff members were very friendly. Overall, it seemed to be a very comfortable environment. The girl who gave us the tour was very helpful. She followed up with me occasionally to see if we were interested in any of the accommodations for my mother."

"I've been staying in Braemar. This is $5,000 a month, which I can support short term, but I can't stay here for ten years. It's been very good, everybody is very nice, they're very friendly, and the facility is nice, so I don't have any complaints. I'm gluten-free, so every once in a while I struggle to find a meal. They don't always have gluten-free, but when they do, they do pretty good. It's a new building, it's only three or four years old, so everything is pretty nice. The bathroom is handicap-friendly. I have a colostomy bag now, that's one of my disabilities. The building is in a U-shape, so everything is down on the ground floor, on the base level. You go to wellness in the morning, get your blood checked for your diabetes, get your pills, and go to the dining room. It's just a nice layout. It's good for me. They have a library, a pool table, and a pub that's not open because of the COVID. The activities are also canceled because of the COVID, so I haven't taken part in anything."

"I'm moving into the Promenade at Tuxedo Place. Price is one of the major reasons I chose it. It's very helpful. There was only one issue that came up whether I was eligible or not. The room was very nice. I took an apartment on the first floor 'cause I had a knee replacement, so that was helpful. I'm hoping to move in within the next 2 to 3 weeks. It's a little bit old, but it seemed very nice."

"My aunt moved to Sunrise Franklin Lakes earlier this year. My aunt has always been a second mom to me. We were so concerned about how she would adjust to living in a memory care setting. We could not be more pleased with how well she has adjusted. I visit frequently and feel so confident that her needs are being met. I often arrive to find my aunt engaged in activities. Seeing her smile and laugh with her new friends brings joy to our family!"
