"We toured The Promenade at Middletown. We didn't really have much of an experience. We sat down with a woman by the name of Tracy. She was very helpful. I liked the building. I thought it was very bright. Tracy was very prompt and extremely knowledgeable of what she was saying. I was impressed with her demeanor and how she handled us. She was very factual and answered any question we had."

"My cousin came from Braemar Living at Wallkill. My personal experience with them was great. I like all of the people who work there. It was lovely. I had a very positive experience with everyone there. They're all very professional. The rooms were lovely. I never ate the food, but I didn't hear any complaints about it. My cousin was able to have a single room, which was best for him. They have a lot of evening activities for people, like movies and bingo. They try to keep everybody busy who wants to be busy. They always have something to do, like play cards. The whole staff was great. They have a shuttle bus to take people over to the mall, do different activities, and take them on trips. It's on the higher end, and I think that would be the only thing that I would give a lower number to. They're all about the same, but they are on the higher scale for the payment."

"Glen Arden is top of the line. That's a beautiful facility. The apartments are beautiful. Everything is perfect. It's a little pricey. Obviously, that would be the top one that my relative would pick. If you're going into assisted living, that would be the place to go if you can afford it. Unfortunately, they're so expensive, and that one you have to put a downpayment on. The rooms are like apartments; that's what I like. You either have a nice patio or a little nice terrace and that's important to him. It's like being in a hotel. I like that. The staff was wonderful also. I didn't have a meal but they have a very formal dining room, which is beautiful. They have a little bistro kinda cafe, which is nice; you can grab a hamburger there. Quite a few people were in there. It seemed like a lot of people seemed to like that. The facility was very clean."

"I was impressed with Mira Vie at West Milford. The person who showed me around was very pleasant. They took me to the two-bedroom because they felt like that would be what I wanted. It was a nice facility. The common area was wonderful. It was great. It's well maintained."

"The place that I was most fond of was The Promenade at Tuxedo Place. It felt like a home. It was very clean. It felt like a good place. Everyone that we met was friendly and helpful. The place was spotlessly clean. Our son broke away from us and went into the kitchen and he said it was absolutely spotless. We saw the cafeteria, and we saw a sample meal. They had a library with a piano and they had an activities room. They had two outside areas that were fenced and they had barbecues when it's barbecue weather. At 10:00 every morning, they had mild exercises and then they had games. It was great."

"I never would have believed that the care my stepdad has received from the Van Duzer home was possible. We moved my dad from another well known and larger facility that I thought was giving him a good quality life but as his condition progressed they were unable to provide him with the level of care he required. Brian and Donna welcomed him and treated him like family from the first moment he set foot in their home. He is pampered. They keep him clean, trimmed, and comfortable. They have a calm, fun nature and the caregivers they hire are the same. The food is gourmet, organic, fragrant and healthy. The home is impeccably clean. The rooms are large. My stepdad is very happy. Donna and Brian's attention to details makes my stepdad's day enjoyable and fun. Their sense of humor is infectious. He has lost unwanted weight, and overall health and mood greatly improved. What a blessing! Words cannot express the deep gratitude we have for the Van Duzer home. Their fee was comparable to his former home but the family atmosphere Donna and Brian create is priceless."

"My family member was just admitted and I have to say the process was so smooth and professional. Major shout out to Carolyn who worked with me for over a week to get everything handled. She added such a personal and professional touch during what can be an unsettling time. She really went the extra mile to make both my family member and me feel at ease and in good hands. Thank you Carolyn and all the staff we met during admission."

"I went to The Carlucci Home - Assisted Living for Ladies. The staff is absolutely lovely. I was there for about an hour. They are very, very competent people. The food is excellent. I would eat the food. The place is very clean. They have tons of activities. I saw pictures with different groups from the neighborhood, like Girl Scouts come in, Boy Scouts come in, other groups during holidays, they have a lot. They have a full agenda that is clearly visible. The room settings, I guess you could get a studio or a separate room, but the room that I was trying to get for my friend is two bedrooms, and so you have a roommate. You don't have to have a roommate. I thought it was super good, very good, and to add to that, they have advanced skilled care, like say if you need for whatever reason more help than assisted living. Assisted living is basically they're providing you meals, helping you with what you need, but if you get a little stick or something like that, or maybe can't do what you normally do, then they are qualified to help to do that. They have a nurse on staff. They have a social worker right there. Everything is right there. I thought that was ideal, but she didn't want to pay that much money, which I thought was fair. But she didn't want to pay that amount of money, but it was like I thought that was the best place that I visited."

"My dad moved to Twin Cedar Senior Living. The place is small. It's not very big. It may have 30 people in it. It's out in the country, and it's a nice place. Their nurses are nice. Their staff is nice. He shares a room with someone, but all they do is sleep in there. They have a big spot where they all go to watch TV. They have an indoor bird sanctuary thing. They have a movie room. They have a patio where they can go out and sit. It's nice and it's close to my house, so I could go there and take him out for dinner if I want, or I could take him for the weekend and then bring him back. My dad says the food is good. They serve him food, dinner, and then they serve him dessert and everything like that. The facility is very clean. The bathrooms could be a little bit nicer and a little bit cleaner. Their sink and stuff are older, and their showers are older, but it seems okay. They're not expensive."

They have a lot of activities for the residents. The food there is wonderful. I haven't seen anything bad about it. The facility is very nice and clean. There is parking available for residents who have cars. It looks like a great place. They have bingo, exercise, and they take them out shopping at least once a week."

"What I liked the most about Westwind Manor was the personal attention given to each family. My uncle stayed there before and his room was spacious, clean, very welcoming, and homey. The staff was very professional and intuitive. They were also extremely friendly and kind. They had many activities like music, crafts, and celebrations. They provided well-balanced homemade meals too."

"My dad loved living at Merriam Manor, he was there for 2 years. The staff is caring, concerned, and helps with all duties of daily living. The food is good, home made meals, vegetables, fruit, puddings, roasts, mashed potatoes. The activity includes bingo, karaoke, cards, bouncing a ball. The rooms are very clean, some have stained glass, marble fireplace, high ceilings, wood floors. The family room is nice with large furniture and a large flat screen TV, book shelves. You feel like living at home, not a facility."

"My wife was in Barn Hill, and I would say it was a nice place. I thought the care was very good. They even greeted me like an old friend. I liked it. She was in the Alzheimer's section, and they take care of them great. They had a movie almost every day, and when they didn't have a movie, they played games, they had a little activity going on, and we know that most Alzheimer's patients can't do everything. I thought it was a section that was specialized for Alzheimer's or people like that, and it was very good. They don't let them walk alone; the staff there was excellent. It seemed like an older facility. I think it was a nice clean place even as the older section. Anything that was dropped on the floor was quickly picked up; it was clean. Everything seemed to be in order, great. It was good. "
