"My mother is here. We chose it because it was a beautiful place, like a resort. It's very nice. She gets assistance with bathing. Her medication is given to her, so she doesn't have to worry about her own schedule. The staff is very helpful. I don't see everything that they do, but my mother likes it there. She doesn't get involved in them, but they have all kinds of activities. They have people come in and entertain. They have games. They have happy hour, and they have a theater. The facility is very clean and homey. They don't take any kind of Medicaid, so I'm running out of money really fast. They take people out on excursions and shopping trips. They have a mini bus to take them out like to lunch. It's good for anybody who can afford to live there."

"The facility employed friendly staff and the residents were happy. While each resident had their own apartment, there were nurses on each floor. It was a large community, well kept and cheerful. The location had something to be desired however, as it bordered a highway. On thep lus side it was next door to the hospital in case of emergency. "

"For anyone who needs to find QUALITY care for their loved one in the West Essex / northern NJ area, please - for the sake of your loved one AND you - just go straight to Green Hill. My father was neglected and almost died in another area facility. He was transferred to Green Hill and is doing so much better. They know how to deal with dementia patients - with dignity, respect and true medical care, even during this year of pandemic. The staff is considerate and friendly, the food is good, and their standards during the pandemic are at par with hospital level - and I know, because my husband works at a hospital. The facility looks like, and we learned, was a former hotel/respite site during the 1940s. The inside is spacious, and with social distancing, that's a GOOD thing. My father is limited in his activity level due to his dementia, but our visits have been SO encouraging. We almost lost my father, so believe me when I tell you, this facility was divine intervention."

"The staff were wonderful and very nice. My only problem with Allendale was it was such a large place; it would be too confusing for my aunt. It was a beautiful and clean facility -- I have no complaints. It was not modern, but not old, and I found it to be very hotel like. I was impressed. "

"Spring Hills has exceptional activities staff. Speaking as a family member of a resident in the memory care section, known as Spring Cottage, I can say that the activities staff are incredible. They provide physical activity such as chair yoga and group exercise, as well as involve the Spring Cottage residents in events, BBQs, and other activities held in the community. They are really incredible at keeping them engaged! Well done."

"The place is a very good residential home for loved ones. My life long friend lives there, and she likes it there very much. The staff are friendly and caring, and pleasant to be around. I met Barry F., the executive director, when I was there visiting, and he greeted us, brought us water, and asked us if we needed anything. The personal rooms, TV areas, dining areas, cafe area, and main living room are all very homey, and inviting. Compared to the place where my friend used to live, this place is 100 times better and happier!!!! I am so happy for my friend. She finally found a place she feels comfortable in. Thank you. "My dad loved living at Merriam Manor, he was there for 2 years. The staff is caring, concerned, and helps with all duties of daily living. The food is good, home made meals, vegetables, fruit, puddings, roasts, mashed potatoes.The activity includes bingo, karaoke, cards, bouncing a ball. The rooms are very clean, some have stained glass, marble fireplace, high ceilings, wood floors. The family room is nice with large furniture and a large flat screen TV, book shelves. You feel like living at home, not a facility."

"My mother has been a resident for one year after suffering from a stroke. The majority of the aides taking care of her have been wonderful. The activity director does her best to engage residents in various activities. I do find the people in the social worker office difficult to reach and it requires some effort to keep on top of things. "

"We toured Westwind Manor, but since our visit, they built a brand-new facility, and we were not able to see that. The tour was very nice. It was small compared to the other places we've been, but it had a lot of one on one interactions with the residents, the faculty there was very informative, open, and it was a nice place. However, they did not transition, and she would have to leave the facility. They showed us all the rooms. There were two residents per room. It's clean, and it was a facility that we could see Mom be at that time."

"Bentley Senior Living was a big institution, but it was a nice facility. It was like a hotel almost. This place was recommended to me. The Alzheimer's care was in the bottom floor. The staff was friendly. For activities, they pretty much have the same activities as what other facilities also offer. "

"Review for colonial manor at Panther valley assisted and independent living. Rooms in the assisted are spacious and renovated. We were able to see a furnished room as she toured us to give us an idea when showing a vacant room which we liked that she took time to do. The independent living cottages are all first floor one story units and they are extravagant in design and come with all amenities. We liked that one can transition from either level (I.e independent to assisted or vise versa independent to assisted) so that was an excellent plus. The tour guide was the manager of the facility and she explained in depth all aspects of her facility. She left us with no questions yet amazed us by answering all of our would be questions. We went into this new process for my father being nervous and uncertain, after meeting with her at colonial manor at Panther valley we left confident, excited and more importantly comfortable in most areas we couldn’t get answers too when touring alternate facilities. I believe the reason I chose this facility for my father was certain to do with (Nic) and her demeanor, personality and the fact she enjoyed explaining each job duties of her staff and their day to day schedule with their residents. Fast forward to now, many years later, my father is still living there and I have told my work buddies, and my neighbors about this facility. Thank you to everyone at colonial manor Panther valley.
