"The Heritage of Clara Barton was very nice. The rooms were kind of small, but it's enough for one person and for one bedroom. The staff members were very good, very nice, and concise. They explained everything very well. The rooms were clean and very nice. The apartment I looked at had its own kitchen. The outdoor was very nice with plants. Everyone had their own space."

"We toured Thrive at Montvale. We liked the amenities, and we liked the fact that it was very new and very fresh. It was very nice. The staff was great, and we enjoyed the tour. We liked their meal plan and the size of the facility. It was not too big and not too small. We liked the fact that they could move from independent to assisted living if they needed to. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, and they wanted to get to know my parents, which was good. The cleanliness was great. We liked the courtyard quite a bit. They had a garden room and a giant LEGO area for families to play in, and they had water features, but the units were a little bit on the small side. The atmosphere was vibrant, and we liked the setup, the layout, and the spaces."

"I love RiverWalk Senior Apartments, but they are Jewish. It's on the grounds of the Hebrew Home. I liked the atmosphere there, and you have your own washer and dryer in the apartment. They have a pool on the premises. All I had there was a cup of coffee. I didn't have any food, but the food was kosher. If you're Jewish, that's fine. They have amenities. They have painting. They have a real painter who comes and teaches there. They have quite a few activities. They put out a newsletter every month. They have concerts there."

"One main reason why I chose to be in this facility is because it's near my children. I also find their pricing reasonable and I like the services they offer here. I also like it here because I don't have to cook. They have complete meals. They also have activities like movies and transportation for shopping or appointment with the doctor. They provide us whatever we need. There's nothing here that I need more than what I have gotten and I am very satisfied with that people that are here. They are just very very nice. The apartments are beautiful. They really are. I have a large apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. I have my children visit me here every week and sometimes twice a week. "

"My Mother was at Franciscan Oaks for several months and recieved outstanding care from everyone she can in contact with. Rehab was wonderful and really helped my Mom walk again, Nursing was fantastic, it was very clean but somewhat dated, the food was ok but we didn't expect much - the administration was supported and very helpful. My Mom is having a hip replacement in Feb. and that is the only place she will go. "

"My mother is moving into Saint Francis Residential Community. I liked it because once we went there you could see that they had activities for everybody, everybody was pretty much together, and they had people there all the time for any need that they had. My mom is Catholic so it helps that it's a very Catholic setting there. They have a chapel, they actually have two chapels, statues all over the place, and it's just really homey and really nice at Saint Francis. Everybody is very nice. My mom is going into an apartment, they get to cook and choose and pay extra if they wanna eat a meal in the dining room, so they can eat a meal, but they don't want to."

"There was a lot of positive and negative when it came to this facility. I believe they come hand in hand when dealing with such a particular demographic. There is no "utopia" of assisted living facilities out there that I know of. The things that were real positive about the place were that you never noticed the staff. It was like a well-oiled machine, and like any good hotel the less you notice the staff the better your experience tends to be unless you are being neglected of course. The facility was clean and everything was always in working order. If there was a problem with something in her housing it would be addressed and fixed in a very timely manner. The only really downfall of this type of facility is it becomes very "cliquey" almost like high school. People become good friends and tend to shun others away. At first my grandmother felt this way and wasn"t really too happy being there. That is no way to spend your final years. Granted eventually she made some friends, but that is a horrible feeling to have. So if there is any way to prevent that, I think a "utopia", of assisted living could be created. "

"We have looked at Brightview Randolph a few times already, and we are very happy with it. It's a lovely facility. You walk in there and you get a sense of happiness. The staff is amazing, and although I don't even know them yet, I see them moving around the facility, and I was just hoping that I would be able to get my husband in there. The menu was very nice, too, and they apparently have some good chefs. They have an exclusive "mind and music" program, which is kind of nice, and they had a show outside on the patio when we were there; they had music while the residents were sitting out there. It was just lovely. They were very nice and very welcoming. I knew that I wanted him to be there the minute I walked through that door because it had so much energy. The condition of the place was spotless, and they had lots of activities listed in their calendar downstairs."

"I toured Fox Hills at Rockaway. I drove around the community and it was very nice. They had a clubhouse, which was where you join the book club or whatever. They had 2 huge pools and a workout room. I looked at the 1-bedroom apartment, and it was very nice but very dated."

"I saw both the independent living and the nursing facility at Crane's Mill. It's very nice, clean, and pleasant. They seemed very efficient. I was visiting my aunt, and I can't recall meeting any staff. I know they had a pool and chapel services. They had a lot of clubs. It was lovely and very clean. I have not been in it in a year and a half because we cannot go in the building. As I recall, her room was very nice. She's in the nursing facility now. She had a lovely apartment to start out with: two bedrooms and a bathroom. It was very nice, quite spacious, and clean. It seemed like a lovely place. We visited with her in the parking lot, but I think they've opened it up to indoor visiting now. We're trying to schedule that for my mother shortly, but when they set it up last fall (the last time I was there), it was outdoors. I thought they did a lovely job. It was very nice. They had tables and chairs. It was outdoors, and they were doing the best they could."

"My dad moved into The Society House. We chose it for the freedom of not being such a normal assisted living place. It's more of an open concept. It's not locked down. It's more like a social setting, more than a home. They have home-cooked meals three times a day. They have game night, movie nights, and socially interactive stuff. You could choose to participate or you could do your own thing and watch TV or walk around. You could make your own food if you want to."
