She has followed up with several emails to see if she could further assist us, without making it feel like a high pressured sales pitch-which it certainly wasn’t. "My friend has been in care in Arden Courts since around Thanksgiving. We're very happy with the place. First of all, it's only for Alzheimer's and dementia. That's her problem, so it fits beautifully. I've been there any number of times. I know somebody else who was there, and I'd been impressed with the staff and the friendliness. The accommodation is simple, but it's adequate. A simple room, not all that big, and a private bath with a shower but no tub. It's all single rooms, and they have 4 wings. There are 14 people in their own wing. There is a living room available to her in each section of 14 people so that they can go into and sit in an easy chair and watch TV anytime. She has no complaints with the food. She has no praise. She is eating regularly, which she was not doing at home. They have social recreation. She is introverted and somewhat depressed and not inclined to participate too much, but they do get her out. She's not lying in bed all day as she was at home, and she watches television. I think she's less depressed there. The staff interaction with the residents is very good. There is a pat on the back or a good word. They go out of their way in that respect. "

"My mom hasn't moved into Brookdale West Orange yet but I just got the keys to the place today and looked at it. I'm going to be trying to get her in this week and she will be in their assisted living. It looked nice and homey. It didn't look like a hospital or anything like that. It looked a little like a hotel even. The room looked nice and it was what I expected. It was a small room with a little kitchenette area. The bathroom was spacious and it had everything she needed. Amanda was very knowledgeable, and she answered all of my questions. I didn't try any meal but the dining area looked fine. I know that they have some activities, but I don't know much about them. There was a place they could go to get haircuts and hair coloring and that sort of stuff. There was also a small library."

"My mother is at Memory Care Living. She has been there for two months now. It is a private home with 15 bedrooms, and each resident gets their own bedroom. The house was completely renovated last fall. It is very clean. The facility is very nice. I give very high marks to the staff that works there. They are very caring and very engaged with the residents. The open floor plan in the family room, and the kitchen is a nice feature because it gives it a very homey feel. Whenever they're preparing food, it is right out in the open. The kitchen is separate, but there are no walls between the kitchen and the main gathering area. I think that's a nice plus. Even though it is a private home, it has a lot of amenities. My mother is very pleased with it. "

"Wow, what a pleasant experience for us. After my mom's hospital stay we realized she could not go back to her apartment. I was so upset to put her in a nursing home and then stumbled across this place online. Brighton Gardens is beautiful!!! It's like nothing we could have imagined. Right away I felt at home with their dog sleeping by the fireplace. My mom's apartment has a large walk in closet and a little kitchen. They help her with showering and staff is always around to answer my questions. She is enjoying their bus trips and likes the social hours. The rates were good compared to other places we visited. "

"My parents moved into Brookdale Senior Living (Brookdale Florham Park) in March. I found it because it was near my house. It’s a nice place with very nice nurses and workers. The best part for me is the location. The community is very clean. It is an adjustment for my parents, but the management is very accommodating try to do what they can to make you happy. They were actually one of the more flexible ones as far as working with you on negotiating the price. The nurses are very hands-on. The one thing negative is that the nurses are not there all of the time. There’s people all of the time, but you don’t have 24-hour nursing, RN or LPN staff. After 7 p.m. until the morning, I think the person in charge is a medtech, not a nurse. So far, we haven’t had any issues. It is a nice community. There are all kinds of different doctors that come to the facility. My parents are in a nice studio room that's in perfect shape. The kitchen is really modern and decently sized, the bathroom is big with a walk-in shower. The room might be a little on the smaller side, but it is very clean and the carpet is brand new. The room looks new, but the place itself is a little dated. The carpet and some of the furniture in the common room are a little dated, too. "

"The staff at Sunrise of Madison was very welcoming and professional, but my father wasn't impressed because he thought that the rooms there were very small. They had a lot of activities and everybody was very nice. The place was clean and well maintained."

"I went to The Veranda Assisted Living. When they showed me the rooms and how they renovated certain things, it looked good. At first, I saw people like they were under the influence of alcohol. According to the state law, they cannot stop them from going out of the building, but if they are drinking in the building, then they're going to get penalized. When I was going in, I saw some people drinking, but they were standing outside. When I spoke to the manager, she said they could go out and they could drink, but they cannot use it in the building. The building was clean. They're doing a lot of renovations. They showed me the place where they're eating. It was nice and neat. They said they are doing renovation, floor by floor, coming down, so the whole building is going to be renovated eventually, and it looks good. The manager was helpful. The dining area was nice and clean. They said they have activities for them. They have special therapy, too."

"For anyone who needs to find QUALITY care for their loved one in the West Essex / northern NJ area, please - for the sake of your loved one AND you - just go straight to Green Hill. My father was neglected and almost died in another area facility. He was transferred to Green Hill and is doing so much better. They know how to deal with dementia patients - with dignity, respect and true medical care, even during this year of pandemic. The staff is considerate and friendly, the food is good, and their standards during the pandemic are at par with hospital level - and I know, because my husband works at a hospital. The facility looks like, and we learned, was a former hotel/respite site during the 1940s. The inside is spacious, and with social distancing, that's a GOOD thing. My father is limited in his activity level due to his dementia, but our visits have been SO encouraging. We almost lost my father, so believe me when I tell you, this facility was divine intervention."
