Days, evenings, nighttime, weekends, holidays, I have been to the home and found caring people there to help with that moment's problem. Directors, assistant directors, supervisors, nurses, therapists, dietitians, aides; even doctors and rabbis, all know my name and who my Mother was and what her special issues were. I didn't always think so in the heat of the moment, but now as I reflect back, it really has been a "home" for our Mother. "

"I toured the Dumont Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare for my friend. It was spotless. That was the first thing I noticed. The scent was so fresh and clean. The staff was friendly, happy, and helpful. Just positive. It was amazing. The bedroom is dynamite. The lounge where the people eat, is top-of-the-line. They eat in comfort. If anything happens to me, I would have to go there first before I went anywhere. I saw a lady doing some medical stuff. It was very orderly, clean, and tidy. I believe she had gloves on her hand and a mask. It was beautiful. We didn't try the food, but it smells good in there, the food smells delicious. It smells like a restaurant. We viewed some rooms where people were sleeping in, she asked permission first, and they let us see the room. The room was tidy. Everyone had their own TV. If I had to put a kid or a family member of mine in there, I would sleep very well at night. It looked like they had somewhere to put their clothes. My mother is also there for rehab now. If anyone rates a negative review on this center, they're telling a lie."

"I put my father in Sands Point Center. The staff is very good; they are very caring and attentive. I didn't taste any of the food, but it smells good. It is very clean, and there are lots of activities. Justin came in the other day to perform, they have pet visits from their pet therapy, and they have Bingo and different kinds of luncheon, Wii, trivia, and contests. I am very happy. "

"It is very good that we moved my mom to St. Mary's. The facility where she was before wasn't good to her. She was getting UTI and she wasn't being cleaned properly at that facility. Since we moved her here in St. Mary's, she cleared up and got better. What I like most about this center is that she doesn't have any health issues like infections or bedsores. Plus, her health is getting better. She is awake and alert, so obviously they take very good care of her there. However, they could improve on the number of their staff. They were too busy taking care of their patients that they can't spare a staff to take calls from families. Yesterday was my mom's birthday, and so we called her there. Unfortunately, they were too busy to let us talk to her on the phone. That was disappointing. Except for that one time, their staff has been great. Nevertheless, I think family is important too when you're in a nursing home. So they should always give access for communication between families and patients. "
