I toured the Dumont Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare for my friend. It was spotless. That was the first thing I noticed. The scent was so fresh and clean. The staff was friendly, happy, and helpful. Just positive. It was amazing. The bedroom is dynamite. The lounge where the people eat, is top-of-the-line. They eat in comfort. If anything happens to me, I would have to go there first before I went anywhere. I saw a lady doing some medical stuff. It was very orderly, clean, and tidy. I believe she had gloves on her hand and a mask. It was beautiful. We didn't try the food, but it smells good in there, the food smells delicious. It smells like a restaurant. We viewed some rooms where people were sleeping in, she asked permission first, and they let us see the room. The room was tidy. Everyone had their own TV. If I had to put a kid or a family member of mine in there, I would sleep very well at night. It looked like they had somewhere to put their clothes. My mother is also there for rehab now. If anyone rates a negative review on this center, they're telling a lie.

Outside of the lobby this place is horrible. My aunt stayed after a hospital stay and the majority of the staff was rude, the rooms were beyond dirty and I cannot believe the health department doesn't shut them down. She did like the food and there were two staff members who treated her very well but the others were awful. So sad this is how our elderly are being treated.

My mother who is 90 yrs. old and speaks little English is currently at Dumont rehab center after having a hip replacement. 1st night there my mother was left in a soiled diaper from Wednesday night to Thursday afternoon. When my sister asked the orderly if she could get her diaper changed orderly told my sister she has to soil her diaper two or there times before she can be changed. My sister complained to manager and the manager I believe her name was Leslie said that this was absolutely not the Dumonts policy. When my sister asked the manager for the orderly’s name Leslie the manger said she didn’t know. Now the next day Thursday my mother’s diaper was finally changed at about 1:30 pm. Tonight my mother’s room phone is mysteriously not working and her buzzer to call the nurses mysteriously disappeared from her bed. My mother had no cell phone or room phone to get in touch with us. This is no way to treat a 90 yr old woman , stay far away from this place terrible the orderly’s are very rude. I will filing a complaint with the state and any other agency that oversees these rehabilitation centers in NY state.

We went to Dumont Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. It was very good. Very nice. The space is pretty big, and there are a lot of people helping. It's very active, and it's very well organized. I couldn't go inside the rooms, but I saw them from the hallway because they are preventing people from getting sick from COVID, so I'm not allowed to go in. But it was pretty big, nice, and well-decorated. The beds are pretty nice. It's very nice inside. They had the therapy section. It's pretty big and very nice. They are giving therapy to everybody, not just to one person. They work together. I see a lot of good things about the communication between them. I saw that they work well. It's very clean, too.

I have a family member living at the Dumont Center and have nothing but nice things to say about this place! The facility is very clean and modern looking and the staff are so friendly and caring. My family member loves to attend the concerts there and hang out on the balcony which has such a nice view. I can rest easy at night knowing that he is in good hands!

I have to share how I feel about the Dumont Center for Rehabilitation. The place is beautiful and comfortable to visit. The staff are welcoming and helpful with all our needs. Starting with Executive Administrator all the way to the hospitality staff, they’re 5 star. My mother has been a resident for five months, on the third floor unit, and the improvement in her is night & day. She was unsure about staying, but now she is one of the staff as she walks around making others feel at home. I can go on forever with my gratitude, but I’ll stop. I just have to thank you, Dumont Center, for giving my family and I the confidence to place our loving mother in your care. For ever grateful!

My mom was at Dumont Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. I chose that because of the reviews. The reviews were looking good, but it is not really what it's saying in the reviews. I didn't like it, the fact that they don't pay so much attention to the patients over there. I find that they are not taking good care of the patients. For example, my mom has to wait over two weeks or three weeks to get a shower because she needs assistance with that. Also, when she wanted to say something about what she needed, she was like ignored. The food looked OK. They never had any type of activity to entertain. My mom needed a Spanish-speaking person to be able to communicate since she doesn't speak English, and that was the first thing that I requested. I was told that they have staff that speaks Spanish. I found only one staff who is bilingual. Then my mom was encountering communication issues because most of the staff were English-speaking only. The room was quite comfortable. It had a bathroom that they shared with the other side of the room. They're two bedrooms, and they share one bathroom, it's just the toilet, but they don't have a shower in there. They have only one shower for the entire first floor; they barely take showers in there. I was speaking with a social worker over there, that I needed something from her, and she was unable to do it. Until now, I'm still waiting. My mom's insurance coordinator was calling the social worker over there, she said that she made different phone calls, and she didn't answer. They were doing some construction. On the website, it looked very luxurious, but it had nothing to do with those images on the website. They are doing some construction in there. The first floor was kind of decent, it's kind of neat and clean. My mom went up to the second floor with the other person that she was sharing the room with because they wanted to visit a friend on the second floor, and my mom told me it was dirty.

I get the services that I need from the Dumont Nursing Home and Rehab Center. They take care of me and I get my therapy, but I don't really belong here. I belong in an assisted living or independent living facility somewhere because I am homeless, I have no family here in New York, and I got nowhere to go. The staff is not so great. It takes forever to call a nurse because they're short of staff. My room is never clean and the way they clean things around here is not the greatest. I have to clean it myself.

Dr. Martin in rehab floor very good. Did every test imaginable to see why my mom suddenly was having seizures with no prior history of this. He increased anti seizure med and has had no seizures since. I have a couple of grievances here though. My mom who is quite incontinent and when there was quite weak and couldn't get to bath room herself, said they brought everyone in daytime to dining room and left them there to observe by minimum staff. She said though she asked numerous times to go to bath room to relieve herself, she was told ok I'll be with you in a few minutes, only to sit in her business all day! I moved my mom out of there to be closer to me upstate and they were told to pack her things so she could be transported the next day. They left quite a bit of her belongings down in the laundry room. She didn't get her wig nor 2 very nice straw hats also. I feel that though there were many patients there and that the priority was stabilizing and improving her health the person who should have handled this dropped the ball. As for my mom's hygiene she was neglected and that is a darn shame! How would they like to be treated like that when they get old and end up in a home dependent on care as too frail or confused to be alone. We are not a rich family and I did not appreciate having to replace her clothes that should have been packed as I had enough on my plate getting her here. They put her name in all of them. My rating for Dr. Martin is a 5. The staff 2. The place was old and depressing as well from lobby to rooms though they were supposed to be getting an over hall since she left early March of 2011. I also had a hard time reaching anyone on phone as reception board often just rang. ugh. There was no parking area but next door which wasn't convenient. There was no place to sit and eat with relative and get some food. It wasn't very family friendly. She did say there was crafts in day to do which was good and she left better than arrived so was fed, cleaned once a day, given meds, went to physical therapy. This is the bare minimum tho sadly.
