"I chose this facility because it has a skilled nursing, assisted living and dementia unit. It's actually good because there's a rehab unit there in case something happens, it has everything in one place. They have many activities and the residents go out on trips. There are activities available from Monday to Friday and on days there aren't any activities they go for outings. The staff is good, they're doing good care. "

"Corinne was very knowledgeable and guided us through the many living options and variable prices of this new community. She listened to what our specific needs were. She has followed up with several emails to see if she could further assist us, without making it feel like a high pressured sales pitch-which it certainly wasn’t. This community won’t be available till Dec/Jan so. O final decision has been made."

"My mother is in the assisted living level of Brookdale West Orange. We selected them because we also had another family member in the Alzheimer's section and we got good reviews from them. She seems to be acclimating, although it seems tough for my mother to move from a home to a small apartment, but she seems to be okay there. The only issue I had was when I was there this weekend, everybody was in the dining facility but they weren't fed because they're having problems with the food. So I immediately called the director up and he was very thankful that I called, because all the people were sitting there for over an hour and they weren't getting anything and what they got wasn't very good. The place is very nice, that's one of the things I had to say when I saw it. The accessibility is convenient for us personally, it's clean, I like it, and her room and everything like the air conditioner seems to work well. She plays a lot of bingo and enjoys that. When I was there, the physical therapist came over to ask her if she wants to physical therapy that day since they have an opening. The gentleman who came to the door was very nice, very cordial and asked politely. And when my mom said no, he completely understood and said there's no pressure to make anybody go and it's fine. Everybody seems to be very friendly and I can't complain about that at all. Overall, it's a nice community and clean, I have no problems with that. They have all kinds of activities, I have gone there a couple of times and they had the community television set. A couple of times I went there to see my mom sitting with other ladies and chit chatting. I would rate the value for the money a 3 right now because of the basic service rate on my bill that I don't understand."

"I've toured Heritage of Clara Barton but the price was a bit out of our range. The place was nice, but we were looking for something that has more activities as part of the community, and we didn't see a lot of that stuff. The staff that we met were flexible, they were nice and willing to work with our hectic schedule. Some of the stuff there looked very old, but overall it looked fine and it's doing the job. The upkeep of the place was very good. It's located where the hospital isn't too far away and there's a Costco around."

"I'm choosing Brighton Gardens of Florham Park because I like the rooms and the people there. They were prepared for me, and she wrote everything down. Financial information was not a question; she had everything provided for me, and her name is Nadia. They sent me home with an absolutely gorgeous apple pie. They have arts and crafts, three meals a day, house cleaning, and housekeeping."

"I'm moving into The Delaney at The Green. Because it's new and probably only half-filled, it means that the people who are moving in there will be my age. I liked the idea that nobody else had lived in the apartment before. I have a one-bedroom apartment with one bathroom, a den or office, where I'll put a desk and that'll be where I'll do my paperwork. Everything was new and the kitchen was beautiful with granite-looking countertops. It had a full kitchen and everything was full size. You don't buy in. It's just a month-to-month rent. They would serve 3 meals a day, but breakfast was more of a continental breakfast. So, there would be pastries and there was the cappuccino machine, and the coffee's wonderful. There would be fruit cups and hard-boiled eggs. This was a buffet and you just take what you want. For the other meals, you go in and order what you want. The staff was very knowledgeable, and I thought everything was wonderful there. What they do there is they give you $500 that's included in your monthly fee. So, you're going to pay that whether you use it or not. But then if you go over $500, it will be extra and you'll get billed for it. The building itself was very contemporary, which might not be my style, but it felt delightful."

"My parents moved into Brookdale Senior Living (Brookdale Florham Park) in March. I found it because it was near my house. It’s a nice place with very nice nurses and workers. The best part for me is the location. The community is very clean. It is an adjustment for my parents, but the management is very accommodating try to do what they can to make you happy. They were actually one of the more flexible ones as far as working with you on negotiating the price. The nurses are very hands-on. The one thing negative is that the nurses are not there all of the time. There’s people all of the time, but you don’t have 24-hour nursing, RN or LPN staff. After 7 p.m. until the morning, I think the person in charge is a medtech, not a nurse. So far, we haven’t had any issues. It is a nice community. There are all kinds of different doctors that come to the facility. My parents are in a nice studio room that's in perfect shape. The kitchen is really modern and decently sized, the bathroom is big with a walk-in shower. The room might be a little on the smaller side, but it is very clean and the carpet is brand new. The room looks new, but the place itself is a little dated. The carpet and some of the furniture in the common room are a little dated, too. "

"The Brielle is a very beautiful place with very nice people. It’s brand new, modern, and very secure. "

"Sunrise of Madison was very pleasant, and the residents were highly cognitive. When I walked in, it was pretty nice. The residents were pleasantly having lunch, and it looked like the menu had many selections. You can help yourself with coffee, and there was a welcome sign out with my name on it. They tried hard to really make a good impression, and they definitely succeeded. "

"I went to The Veranda Assisted Living. When they showed me the rooms and how they renovated certain things, it looked good. At first, I saw people like they were under the influence of alcohol. According to the state law, they cannot stop them from going out of the building, but if they are drinking in the building, then they're going to get penalized. When I was going in, I saw some people drinking, but they were standing outside. When I spoke to the manager, she said they could go out and they could drink, but they cannot use it in the building. The building was clean. They're doing a lot of renovations. They showed me the place where they're eating. It was nice and neat. They said they are doing renovation, floor by floor, coming down, so the whole building is going to be renovated eventually, and it looks good. The manager was helpful. The dining area was nice and clean. They said they have activities for them. They have special therapy, too."

"I liked the tour I had at The Willows Home. It was good. I like the staff who gave the tour, and they called me after that. They seemed to be nice people. I like the price, too, and I think the staff was courteous. It's a house that they transformed into assisted living because the house has about 12 rooms. The house is very old, but it's clean. The layout is good."
