Nursing Home Communities in Newton, NJ

"The Homestead I feel is one of the best nursing homes in our area for low income patients. I feel they could spend more of their funding on fixing up their building which is quite old and worn down, and makes it seem like it is a lesser quality residence. But, their nursing staff and aides really care about their residents and do all they can to make sure they feel at home, and that they are well taken care of. They have plenty of staff which is a real relief to see these days since most places cut corners, and overwhelm their staff with too many residents. I would assure families that their loved ones would be well taken care of if they were thinking about placing someone in the Homestead. "

"Forest Manor was very spacious, they had a lock down unit, and they also had in long-term care. They had a very large physical therapy area and a nice outside area. The atmosphere was not quite as homey; it’s sterile, but it still met the needs of the person we need to find a place for. "

"My mom used to be at Merry Heart. The staff was wonderful and did their best. Every time I had a problem, no matter what it was, they were on top of it and couldn't have been more helpful. However, the facility was run down and dirty. They need to put some money into it. It just wasn't clean. My mother was there during hurricane Sandy. There were roof leaks because it really took a hit. I just was surprised that things didn't get fixed quickly enough. The nursing home area is more expensive than the assisted living section. They're making all this money with so many people there, so I wish they'd put a little more back into their facility. "

"I could not find another nursing home that has the overall quality that Regency Gardens has. "

"Heath Village is a little more expensive, but there is a lot more going on there. It is also bigger. A friend who has been there over a year seems content with it. "

"My grandmother has been at this facility for the past 5 years. She was diagnosed with alzheimer's and we were unable to take care of her. The facility is very clean and the people there are courteous and kind to my grandmother. I dont see any problems with the facility and really appreciate all the hard work the staff does. "

"My husband just recently went over to Warren Haven Nursing Home, so I don’t know too many people yet, though the people are very nice. The place is very clean. I don’t see any activities there, but they have an activity board; I don’t know where the activity area is, though. My husband complains about the food being like hospital food because it is very bland. The only thing I was upset about was I was not informed by the doctor that my husband’s meds had been upped. "

"We are pleased with Franciscan Oaks, and the only thing we didn’t like was having to put so much money up, but then we are buying the unit. The rooms were beautiful and lovely. The atmosphere was very good, and sanitation was excellent. "

"Complete Care at Milford Manor is a clean place. It isn't the best, but it is OK. Some of the staff are very nice. Some of them are not and unhelpful. My father's room is spacious and clean. They have bingo, people that put on shows, and music. The dining area is clean and good. They also have an activities room and a library. Probably one thing they could improve on is to get more staff. I think they're short staffed."

"my parent became a resident of Clover Rest home after our transfer from a large gorgeous nursing home. The large modern facility was cold, impersonal, and the staff were poor and different every shift. We moved to Clover and my parent is so happy with the small, intimate, family atmosphere. Clover has the same consistant staff and will attend to any need. we are so happy our parent is happy and content at Clover! Clover is a five star superior care facility! "

"My mother is in Delaware Valley Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. It's brand new. It's clean and new. I think they have around 200 residents. Her room is beautiful, very spacious, and private. The assisted living where she's going afterwards is a private room that has its own bath. The rehab is a shared room. They have a wall between the two beds. The staff is very caring. My mother said the food is excellent. I know they can either eat in their rooms or go to the shared dining room. All her needs are being met. She's moving along. She's not in a wheelchair anymore, so they take care of her. They walk her every day. She's clean."

"The facility is run down but relatively clean. There are some excellent nurses and aides that are overworked but genuinely care during the day shift. They are always short staff. The night staff is terrible. My mother was genuinely afraid at times. I spoke to the administrator, several times, who will tell you what you want to hear but nothing changes. My mother said that she was given the incorrect medication one evening and called me in a panic. The nurse came in the room and was quite fresh to her and he asking who she was calling. I was unable to get the hospital to test for the medication as we had no idea what it was other than seizure medication (she was told this by a new nurse). My mom passed a week later."

"Holly Manor was a great nursing facility. The staff, along with all the other guests were phenominal. The minute we entered the place, we knew they would treat my grandmother right. The R/N's new exactly what to do with each problem that came up. Also, the physical therapists tried their hardest to get my grandmother to walk again, although they were unsuccessful. The only problem we had was with the N/A's. They took to long to help my grandmother, along with all the other patients. They would all be sitting in the hallway talking about their lives. The patients would be screaming for help and the N/A's would pretend not to hear. The food didnt taste as good as it could've, but the kitchen staff and the support staff was really great. We would have to bring my grandmothers dinners and lunches because she just wouldnt eat the food. Overall, even with the flaws, it was a great experience. "

"I was a resident at MorrisView rehab the rooms are beautiful and clean. The nursing staff was caring, the rehab staff was outstanding they really work with me to improve my walking, I really enjoyed the activities in the Atrium."
