My dad loved living at Merriam Manor, he was there for 2 years. The staff is caring, concerned, and helps with all duties of daily living. The food is good, home made meals, vegetables, fruit, puddings, roasts, mashed potatoes. The activity includes bingo, karaoke, cards, bouncing a ball. The rooms are very clean, some have stained glass, marble fireplace, high ceilings, wood floors. The family room is nice with large furniture and a large flat screen TV, book shelves. You feel like living at home, not a facility.

My father is in Merriam Manor. The staff seems friendly and responsive to anything he needs. It's a clean building. His room is a little small, but it's well kept. The dining area is a big room with tables, but there's nothing fancy. I saw physical therapy, Bingo, and crafts. We made a mistake in paying the first rent and instead of telling us we overpaid, they didn't say anything. They asked us to send in extra payment for vitamins and over-the-counter things. I said we overpaid in September and can we deduct, but they said that payment was for community service within the building, so I got a copy of my paperwork and they remembered we overpaid. When I first saw the place, I went by myself and there was no evaluation and then I moved him right in. Within the weekend, they said he needs to have a roommate and they're worried he'll fall on the stairs. We had him on the second floor and they claimed they had an elevator, but they lock it up and they never use it. The residents can't use that elevator, so they have to move them down into the first floor into a shared room, which was not what we originally booked, and they're charging us the same amount. It's a beautiful place though.
