"I'm moving into The Delaney at The Green. Because it's new and probably only half-filled, it means that the people who are moving in there will be my age. I liked the idea that nobody else had lived in the apartment before. I have a one-bedroom apartment with one bathroom, a den or office, where I'll put a desk and that'll be where I'll do my paperwork. Everything was new and the kitchen was beautiful with granite-looking countertops. It had a full kitchen and everything was full size. You don't buy in. It's just a month-to-month rent. They would serve 3 meals a day, but breakfast was more of a continental breakfast. So, there would be pastries and there was the cappuccino machine, and the coffee's wonderful. There would be fruit cups and hard-boiled eggs. This was a buffet and you just take what you want. For the other meals, you go in and order what you want. The staff was very knowledgeable, and I thought everything was wonderful there. What they do there is they give you $500 that's included in your monthly fee. So, you're going to pay that whether you use it or not. But then if you go over $500, it will be extra and you'll get billed for it. The building itself was very contemporary, which might not be my style, but it felt delightful."

"Going in, I had no idea what to expect. This was my first experience visiting an assisted living facility. The outside of the home was very attractive, and looked classy - not the run down prison I've heard some assisted living facilities made out to be! However, all the lingering doubts I had evaporated when we walked in. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was laid back and quite comfortable. All of the people I saw out and about in the common areas seemed to be enjoying themselves, which helped put me at ease. After speaking to my aunt, I could tell she was happy and content living here. Overall, I was pleased to see that my aunt was comfortable with her home. She even said that she was making friends easier than she had ever before, and that had a steady set of friends that she considers reliable and fun. "

"Just moved my month in on May 1st. She needs so much care I wasn't sure assisted living would be enough for her and thought we would have to place her in a nursing home. Brighton Gardens told us they would be able to handle her care. Doctors even come into the community. She is well taken care of and we love the nurses. My family is so happy she didn't have to go to a nursing home. We just attended their barbeque last week and get a great time. I even was able to bring my grand daughter who danced to the music all night! "

"The community that stood out to me was Juniper Village at Chatham. It was gorgeous. It was very classy and very well maintained. The amenities and seating areas were lovely, but it was way out of our price range. If we could have afforded, that's where I would send my father. The staff who gave the tour was extremely helpful and delightful, but she wouldn't be the one interacting with my father. The place was very clean."

"I liked Mira Vie at Montville very much out of all the ones that I've seen. It was very warm and inviting. The staff was very friendly and it pretty much had everything that my mom would need. The facilities were very, very clean. It's not a brand new facility but everything seems to be well-maintained and very spacious. The lady who gave the tour was very good, too."

"Corinne was very knowledgeable and guided us through the many living options and variable prices of this new community. She listened to what our specific needs were. She has followed up with several emails to see if she could further assist us, without making it feel like a high pressured sales pitch-which it certainly wasn’t. This community won’t be available till Dec/Jan so. O final decision has been made."

"I am so grateful to Sunrise of Summit and the team. Mom and I researched many places and Summit Sunrise felt most like home. Mom is very independent , creative, fun and an amazing artist and oftentimes shy to display her work. Sunrise created an art show featuring mom and other resident artists. The champagne event was well attended and was a huge boost to Mom who is looking forward to the next opportunity to display her work and collaborate with like minded residents. Mom has blossomed socially and smiling all the time Prior to Sunrise, Mom lived alone and then with me and especially with COVID, was feeling understandably very isolated. I could have never imagined how important it was to be with a community of peers and social opportunities. Because the community is new, her apartment is modern and chic-just like Mom. The staff maintains her room and does laundry etc which Mom loves (I did not think she would). I can’t thank the staff and community enough for creating such a wonderful environment for Mom Mom has her tribe!"

"My tour at Mt. Arlington Senior Living was good; they just couldn't accommodate my father. They showed us the memory care. It's hard for them to adjust to someone with Alzheimer's who is mobile. It was a beautiful facility. The people were nice. They sat down and explained to us how they work, how to pay, how they get the medication, and do all that stuff. They showed us where he'd be staying, the dining room, and the lounge area. At this point, it was a shared room because we were just putting him in there temporarily. They would have freedom to roam. They had their own balconies where they could go out and get some sunshine, and also sit down. They had a lounge where they could sit down and watch TV and congregate to the best of their ability. Everybody was very nice. The meal that they gave us was good."

"Spring Hills has exceptional activities staff. Speaking as a family member of a resident in the memory care section, known as Spring Cottage, I can say that the activities staff are incredible. They provide physical activity such as chair yoga and group exercise, as well as involve the Spring Cottage residents in events, BBQs, and other activities held in the community. They are really incredible at keeping them engaged! Well done."

"This community was alright. They both had independent living and an assisted living facilities. I didn't like the apartment, they need to improve on the layout of the rooms. "

"We visited Brookdale West Orange where my husband's mother stayed for a year. It's a comfortable, well-designed, very clean, spacious facility with an emphasis on social activities. They cater to the specific needs of the residents. The rooms themselves are modest in size but very clean and well kept. You decorate them yourself. Activities include trips in the local area. For instance, in the fall, there's a little bus trip through the Reservation to see the leaves changing color, but there's also trips to concerts and films. They have clubs like music clubs and a book club which my mother-in-law loved a lot. She loved the food there. The chef actually interviews each resident to find out what their particular tastes are and tries to provide customized meals for them."

"Mira Vie at Warren was beautiful. I loved it. The people were very nice. The community was beautiful. My drawback was the demographics, because even though I'm 70, I think the people are older. I loved that they had underground parking. That was important to me, especially in New Jersey. I know I could feel comfortable there. The staff was wonderful. Everyone that I came in contact with, and also the residents, were very friendly and very welcoming. I had coffee and pastries and they were good. The common areas were gorgeous. The room was wonderful. It just didn't have enough closet space for me."
