How to Pay for Assisted Living in Naples:

Naples seniors pay for assisted living with health insurance benefits, veterans’ programs and their personal income and assets. When choosing a long-term care community, prospective residents should verify that the facility accepts the specific benefits or programs they plan to use for payment.

  • Medicaid: The Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Long-Term Care Program has coverage for assisted living services such as meals, personal care and housekeeping. This entitlement program is available to those who meet function and financial criteria.
  • Medicare: The federal health insurance program can help older adults pay for medically necessary services they receive in assisted living, including durable medical equipment, skilled nursing and physical therapy. However, standard assisted living services fall outside the program’s scope of coverage.
  • VA Benefits: The Veterans Administration oversees three programs that help qualified veterans pay for long-term care. The Geriatrics and Extended Care program provides direct coverage for personal care, meals and transportation, while Aid and Attendance and Housebound benefits increase beneficiaries’ monthly pensions.
  • Private payments: Seniors use their personal income and assets to cover funding gaps and pay for all types of assisted living expenses. Depending on their financial profile, sources for these payments may include long-term care insurance, Social Security benefits, pension income and retirement savings.

Benefits and Drawbacks of Assisted Living in Naples

  • The cost of living in Naples falls within 2% of the national norm. Assisted living residents benefit from affordable health care services, while relatively low housing, food and energy costs promote budget-friendly long-term care.
  • Reporting just over 16 crimes per 1,000 people every year, most of which are nonviolent, Naples appeals to prospective assisted living residents who prioritize safety. Some of the safest neighborhoods in the city include Copeland, Verona Walk and Aviamar Circle, though assisted living residents citywide enjoy peace of mind thanks to facility security features such as alarm systems and surveillance cameras.
  • Because Florida doesn't levy income taxes, seniors in Naples can often put a high portion of their income and assets toward assisted living expenses. Additionally, the state’s sales tax doesn’t apply to groceries or medicine, helping older adults save money on basic living expenses.
  • The American Lung Association gives the Naples region an A for ozone pollution. This indicates low levels of smog, promoting a clean and comfortable environment for seniors sensitive to environmental irritants.
  • Home to several top-rated hospitals, Naples offers high-quality health care to seniors and assisted living residents. These hospitals include Naples Community Hospital, which specializes in cardiac care and orthopedic surgery, as well as Physicians Regional – Pine Ridge.
