Assisted Living Communities in North Fort Myers, FL

"The doctor recommended American House Fort Myers for my husband. He had other patients that had done well there with the same kind of illness. I'm 75% satisfied. It's beautiful, very new, and well landscaped. There are fountains in the backyard, birdfeeders, lovely furniture, and a pool area. It's well decorated and immaculately clean. My husband says the food is awesome. I've eaten there several times and it's good. Because it's new, I don't think they've got all the staff that they need at times, but the administration is very receptive to comments and to making things right."

"When I visited, they took me anywhere I wanted to go. We saw the rooms -- even those that were occupied -- little ladies let us come in to look at their rooms. We saw where they make cookies every afternoon. One of the things that I liked about the place was the floor was entirely tiled, there was no carpeting with stains, dirt, or hair. Everything was very clean, beautiful, and they were very friendly. The people that assisted me were wonderful, they worked in unison, they were very pleasant, and there was no pressure."

"Amavida Senior Living is a new facility, it just got built this past year, and it just opened up. It's a beautiful place, it's very well appointed, they have everything you can imagine, and they do offer additional services as far as the type of place you would live. You can start as independent, and then they can move you to a higher care assisted or even a nursing home type thing. They have everything you can imagine, it's a first-class type of place. The staff was fine, very knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and did a grand tour. I saw a model apartment and had a look at the amenities."

"My mom stayed in Canterfield of Fort Myers Assisted Living for 18 days. I picked her up yesterday. Everything was convenient. Everything was good. They took good care of her. She caught a cold, but she says she's okay. Everybody loved her. And they were very attentive especially when she got sick. They took care of her. They had a thing where they fixed their nails, and she got her nails fixed. She would socialize. She socializes with the people. They said she sat outside where the weather was warm. We had lunch with her on her first day there, and it was good. The staff are wonderful. The woman we made the arrangement with was Hayley and she was wonderful."

"We toured Alva Senior Living. I went and looked at all the rooms and what they have. We met with the director of the senior living section. We just walked through the whole thing, and she told us all about it, and we asked questions, and she answered all of them. The rooms were small, but they're very nice. They furnish everything except a mattress. So you don't have to bring your own furniture. They have rooms with big bathrooms and rooms with small bathrooms. We toured the dining area. They only have five people right now, and they're only gonna have a total of 16 when they're full. It's a very small unit. It was as clean as it could be. They have a big common room on the front of the building, and at one end is the dining room, which has a big long table with chairs, and it was decorated with fresh roses. It was very pretty. I didn't actually go into the kitchen, but I talked to the cook who was standing at the door, and she said they cook everything there. They don't buy any premade stuff. They have an area where, if somebody wants something during the day, like a snack or something to drink, or if they want something to eat, they can go and request it, and they can get it during the day if they want that. The staff was really good, answered our questions, and were very friendly. They're new, so they're just getting started. It was very nice."

"We toured American House Coconut Point. We toured both levels, the independent and the assisted living, and we looked at the model in the assisted living. It was a very good experience. We met with Kimberly, and she was very thorough and informative, so we had a good tour. It had fewer residents than the previous ones we looked at, so that was good. The facilities were good. Everything is very neat, clean, and very nice. Everything seemed to be within a short distance of the room, so the layout was fine. They had a swimming pool, and I think they had a little patio. It was a little dark, and they were improving some of the carpets and things, so it was just a little darker than what I liked. They needed to be a little brighter."

"We’re so thankful we found Brookdale Punta Gorda Isles for our mom! It’s a smaller, welcoming community that truly feels like home, with a caring staff that treats residents like family. Her apartment is just the right size, with a beverage fridge/freezer and a microwave, offering a bit of independence with support close by. From Wendy’s warm welcome to the attentive care from Jessica, Mikey, Donna, Scott and the rest of the team, we’ve felt peace of mind every step of the way. It may not be the biggest or flashiest place, but the personal touch and genuine care make all the difference!"

"Vick Street Manor was nice and a small place. They only have 50 people right now. It's just quiet, there's not a lot going on. The tour I did of their assisted and memory care was wonderful and the director was very nice. She was a great person. The rooms were nice with separate bathrooms and a living room area. Some rooms even have a balcony or a screened-in porch. They were nice. They had 2 different places for dining. One was for wheelchair people and then there was another dining room for people who were in walkers and things like that. There were two separate areas and it was nice. They do happy hour Fridays, movies on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and they have a game day on Wednesdays. They do a lot of stuff there. The director's been there for 15 years. She was very on top of her game and was very nice. The upkeep looks great too. I didn't find anything wrong with anything, everything looked good."

"We liked that American House Bonita Springs had a park-like setting, and that all the apartments had individual lanais. Those were the two big things that we really liked about it in comparing it to other places that we saw. The apartment had a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. The staff member during the tour was very personable, very nice, and knowledgeable. She took us on a full tour of the facility. They had a beautiful pool with a walking ramp and a firepit by the poolside. It was very nice."

"My wife has therapy at Courtyard Assisted Living 3 times a week. They seem to take good care of people there. They give her two meals a day and also coffee sometimes. My wife likes the people there. I would suggest Courtyard to other people. "

"I have chosen here but I haven't moved in yet. The first thing we noticed when we went on a tour is how happy the people that were there in talking to each other and communicating. That was one of the big things. The price was another, and that was the second thing. They've been very helpful in helping me set up the room and anything else I needed. I'm happy with the size of my room. I don't need a lot, but it has a bathroom and a screened-in porch. I'm on the first floor. I've got furniture delivered there from Wayfair, and they said they'd handle it. And I'm going to have furniture moved down on the 15th from where I am, and they said to let them know and they'll have dollies out and things ready to move them to the room for me. All in all, they've been very, very, very helpful. The staff members have been very friendly. Everybody speaks to me and introduces themselves. They're very, very nice. They have a laundry room on the second floor, and they have a library, which is important to me. They even told me if I knew when the TV was coming, they were going to connect it for me. And my tour was complete."

"I like that Parkside Assisted Living and Memory Care is new and that it's close to two hospitals. The staff members who assist my mother every day are very nice. They take time to talk to you, too. I don't know about the food. Some of it that I saw is not really what my mom likes. The cleanliness of the building is very good. It's like six or seven years old, and it's built well. My mom hasn't been there very long, so we haven't seen a lot of their activities. However, the past few times I've been there, she has been in some kind of group with other residents there, so the activities seemed good. The rooms are very nice. The way they have the whole thing laid out is pretty nice. Overall, it's close, it's affordable, and it's right across the street from two hospitals."

"My dad has been here for a few weeks now, and he's happy there. I'm pretty happy with the place too. He has a nice apartment, and the residents are generally happy. Some days are different from the others, but the last time I was there, I heard people laughing. It was like a big party and dad loves it. He's very happy to have company, and he's getting everything he needs. The staff members are all very nice and cheerful, and they seem to enjoy their jobs. There's also longevity within the staff. Some of them have been there for a long time. He likes the food so far. They said he eats all of it and finishes his plate. The building was recently remodeled, like a year ago, so it looks good. He just has a closet door that could be in a little better shape, but that's not a big deal. It's all been remodeled, so it's nice, clean, and neat, and the bathroom looks good and modern. They do have activities every day. Some days it's bingo, then it's something else other days. Dad is very interested in that. It's perfect for the memory care residents. The decor is kind of weird, though; like in the hallway off to one side, there's a crib with a few baby dolls in it and they look realistic. It seems kind of weird to normal people but I get it. You have babies and that's something that everybody could relate to, and then over in the other hallway, they have a little tool area set out. So it's like a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but it's interesting and seems conducive to keeping them amused."
