I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend moved to the independent living community of Twin Rivers Senior Living in Richardson. He picked it because it had more living space, which was important to him. I didn't like it because he has to pay for his own food, and they're not covering his internet and electricity costs. They're only paying for his water and trash, but that's all. The living space was, I think, about 1300 square feet, which is a lot larger than some of the other places that we looked at for him. He pays $300 a month for his food, and they deliver it to him. It's not all-inclusive, so he pays extra for that. He has an apartment that has 9-foot ceilings, a linen closet, a frost-free refrigerator with an ice maker, a garbage disposal, ceiling fans with lights, and a large walk-in closet. They have an individually controlled central HVAC system, and small techs are allowed with a deposit and a fee. I know that he has a washer and dryer connection, and they also have a washer-dryer room on-site, because he ended up saying that he didn't hook up his. His location was across the way from the laundry room, so he decided not to even hook up his own connection. I didn't interact with or meet the staff. When I went over there, my friend wasn't moving around too well. I would have wanted him to take me on a tour of the place, but I knew they had a library when we walked up there to come in. Another thing I didn't like was that they didn't have 24-hour security. They had a gate gated thing, and there were locks on the doors, so it was protected, but the other places had somebody at the lobby all night. This place kind of shut down at 5 o'clock, so the residents could go in and out on their own. They have a fob that lets them in and out, but there wasn't anybody on staff in the lobbies that I could see. There might have been a number they could call if they got locked out, but I'm not even sure about that. My friend seemed to like the place. I think they were better than average, and because of their price being low, they might have been a better choice in their area, but I saw some places in Arlington that I thought were better overall for the price of the amenities. However, it was really important to my friend to live in Richardson because that's where his doctors are. I also think it was because he was familiar with the area. He mentioned that the food was okay, but he didn't sound that enthusiastic about it. Visually, the place looked nice and very clean. It looked kind of new, even though I think it was older, so it was maintained well. My friend says that they have some stuff like movie nights. I also asked him about happy hour, and he said they have one. Besides those particular events, though, when he walks around, he said it's empty and nothing is going on. Everybody stays in their room. All the other places had stuff to do, but it's also hard for me to judge because he is also not social, so I don't know how much of that is because of the facility or just him.

Our mother Moved to Twin Rivers Not long after it opened. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made! The facilities, activities, programs and most importantly the staff are stellar!! Our mom looks at the people who work and live at Twin Rivers as family and has thrived during the Covid virus ❤️!! The people in charge have protected her from the virus and at the same time made her feel safe and secure! All our family highly recommends Twin Rivers to any one in need of the special care they provide! The meals are tasty and nutritious , the activities interesting and looked forward to by the residents as well as visiting family, rooms and bathrooms spacious and light and airy, the staff show affection and concern For the residents—5 + StarS!!!!

I am/was a resident of this facility

Want to live at a senior independent living residence that feels like home? Look no further than Twin Rivers. I lived there for 5 years, and even though I live in Plano now, I still go back and visit, and still love the people and the staff (almost all are original to when Twin Rivers opened). They have the best parties, and a great variety of parties. The manager has great every Wednesday ‘field trips’ to eateries, theater presentations, movies, etc. etc. She is the best manager you’ll ever find, as she and the entire staff consider you like family, and thus they CARE. A final note, after I have a kidney transplant/recover in the next 2-3 years, I plan to move BACK to Twin Rivers for many more FUN, happy, healthy (long halls to walk year round) and safe (gated) years to come.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm living in Twin Rivers Senior Living, and it's excellent. The rooms, facility, and staff are excellent. I cook my own food, but they have an excellent dining room. I'd recommend them. You can't go wrong. Every day of the week and month there's an activity of some kind.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Mother was moved to Twin Rivers after suffering nursing home abuse by a Doctor at another facility. I have never been so impressed with the Love, care, treatment as I have been with Twin Rivers. The Memory care portion is very small so this allows the residents to have very individualized treatment and care. The facility's is beautiful and spotless, the staff is unbelievable!!! The director Chris is very professional and caring. Kimberley runs the Memory Care area. I have never seen such Love, care and someone that gives 110% of herself to do the best that she can possibly do to take care of people and make sure that her staff is highly trained. The Nurses and Aids are just fabulous. You never want to put your family member in a home but there are times that you have no choice, you sometimes can no longer safely take care of them and provide them with the level of care required. We lost Mom on August 15th but after the nursing home abuse by the staff doctor at her prior location I thank God that he put my Mother at Twin Rivers Richardson. I can honestly say that everyone there treats the residents with the upmost respect and Love. Thank you again to the Staff at Twin Rivers, I will always Love you and forever in my Heart. I visited this facility

I looked at Twin Rivers Senior Living, but I crossed it off because I needed assisted living. I was impressed with the rooms; they were adequate-sized. I thought it was a nice place. It had a very attractive appearance from the outside. The person that assisted me was business-like.

I visited this facility

I found Twin Rivers Senior Living for myself. I haven't moved in yet, but it did have more of what I wanted, plus the price was right. The room that I chose was a one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit. My first impression of this facility was that it was very cordial. They had very outgoing people who acted like they wanted me to live there. The staff has been great. They have been in contact with me at least once every two or three weeks ever since I have told them I wanted to move in. I will move in there once they have a one-bedroom, one-bathroom open. Regarding activities, there are more than what I can mention. They have party bridge, church services, Mardi Gras party, card games, movies with popcorn, canasta, pinochle, bingo, Valentine's social party, Yoga, Bible studies, etc. Just about anything you would want. What stands out with this facility is that more than anything, it is independent living. They leave it strictly up to you what you want to do and how independent you want to be. They also have assisted living there. However, one of the negatives for this place is the food. You pay for it whether you eat it or not. You pay by the month, and if you eat, that's fine, but if you don't it, you still have to pay for it.

I visited this facility

Having visited Twin Rivers on several occasions now, I continue to be impressed with their friendly, efficient staff, the condition of the facility and the multiple activities provided for the residents. What a joyful place to retire! Even my 6-year old granddaughter loves it! This speaks volumes!

I visited this facility

Twin Rivers was my favorite. That's the only one I visited actually. I did see their apartments and their price was reasonable. I like best the people I dealt with. They were friendly and outgoing. I even had gone to a couple of parties at that facility. Overall, I was very impressed with it.

I visited this facility

Although not quite as affordable as most retirement communities, the beauty and location of this retirement community is well worth the extra money. It is very close to shops and restaurants, which makes it easy for the clients to walk there without the need of staff supervision. The rooms are also very large with a beautiful view of the surrounding area. I highly recommend Twin Rivers.
