"We're very happy with Edgemere. It's very clean. The people are pleasant. They take good care of us. The meals are good. Maintenance and housekeeping are all good. They have a Bible study that we go to. They have a lot. We do movies and stuff. It's worth the money."

"Liberty Heights is wonderful, perfect, and has very good atmosphere. They have chef-prepared meals three times a day for dad, with waiters and waitresses that wait on him. The whole setup is just three years old, so everything is very new. His apartment is great; it has a patio and putting green. They have Bingo, gardening, twice-a-week shopping trips, and twice-a-week trips to entertainment and ball games. Dad likes that there's a lot of men there and that they have a veterans' group. "

"I thought the independent living community of The Reserve at North Dallas was nice, if you like the idea of living in a high-end hotel. It's like a 4-star hotel. Some people wouldn't like that, but I thought it was good. The staff members who assisted us were really good. I remember looking at the place and thinking that it was much nicer than the other place we visited, and that the prices were better. We had a meal there, too, but the food wasn't anything special. For its location, this place is probably as good as you were going to get, price-wise, in Dallas."

"I'm at The Wellington at Arapaho. I've been here for almost five weeks and the experience has been wonderful. The people are friendly. I've been involved in a lot of activities like bingo, Skip-Bo, and different games. I also go to a chair exercise class in the morning three days a week. They have happy hour with entertainment every Friday right before our dinner. It's friendly and sociable. The atmosphere is very nice. I know I haven't been here as long as others, but it has been a really good experience for me. They offer food and transportation for shopping, grocery, Wal-Mart, CVS, anywhere you need to go to get your business done. Tuesday and Thursday, they offer transportation to any medical appointments. We went to Braum's for ice cream one afternoon. Things like that make it much easier. It's very aesthetic. The paintings they've put on the walls (walking down the hallways to your room and to different areas) are very easy on the eyes. There are beautiful sceneries. It's very clean. I have a balcony that overlooks the courtyard, which is really nice to sit out and relax. I've done that a few times. It is a nice view. They clean our rooms, and the staff is very efficient and does a really good job. I do my personal laundry, but the cleaning person washes our sheets and towels for us, along with cleaning the apartment. I believe I'm getting my money's worth. Sometimes, the food is just not hot enough, and that would be my only complaint. I usually try the vegetable first because I like my vegetables warm, and sometimes they just aren't warm enough for me."

"I chose The El Dorado for myself because of the location. I liked how it's laid out. The atmosphere suits me quite well. The rooms are very nicely sized. The studios are big. I felt like I belonged there. The dining area is very much like an upscale restaurant."

"It is a place for older people, sixty-five years old and above. My mother had a fracture in the back so she had to be there. They have a doctor on-call, worked with her in physical therapy and they have an exercise program after she finished her rehab. She's now ready to move out after two and a half months. I'm very impressed that once a week you can get your hair done and they have a lot of entertainment for the patients if they chose to go to them. The rest of the patients are wheelchair bound but they still have opportunities to do things. The staff was kind and loving to her. I'm really impressed with the care they take for their patients. "

"Atria Canyon Creek is so far very nice and the people are friendly. I have a small 2-bedroom, the staff cleans every other week and provide 2 meals a day. The staff members are very nice and respectful. They have basic cable, we're not doing much now because of the virus but there are lots of activities like going out to watch plays and concerts. The meals are provided in my room right now because of the virus, otherwise, we have a dining room with tables that each seat six which is good for conversation. There are a variety of rents for same-sized apartments. People tend to come in with lower rates then they go up about 10% a year. So that's the drawback, after several years people tend to move out because they can no longer afford the rent."

"Briarview was lovely and very nice. They are full right now. They have duplexes, and they're a little bit separate from the assisted living facility. They have a regular kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms. They offer activities. You can eat up there in the assisted living part or just in your own kitchen. Everybody that we met was nice. The facility was well-kept."

"I'm at Lakeview at Josey Ranch. Their location is more convenient to me. I think this facility does a good job of keeping their apartments very good. The kitchen staff is good and their food is good and that's the main thing. This is a senior living facility and we do not have assisted living here. My apartment is the smallest one-bedroom, but it is not too small for one person, so it is okay. "

"Gracious Care Home - Allen, a residential assisted living, was a nice place. The only thing is that I don't know if they would have been able to handle my mother with her Dementia and all the requirements that she would have needed in that kind of environment. It was just a four-bedroom house, but it was very nice. I just don't think they had the equipment or the staff to deal with her condition. She's immobile, she can't walk, and she's bedridden. The medication, the fact that she can't walk, and with her dementia, I just don't know if they would have been able to deal with all that. She would have required more attention than I think they would have been able to provide. I think for assisted living or for someone who can still maintain, and just has memory problems, it would be perfect. My mom required more one-on-one attention because, although she can't walk, she's forgotten she can't walk, so someone has to watch her all the time, since she might fall and have a very high risk of falling. The staff was very nice to me. They introduced me to a couple of the people who were there, and they were also very nice. They have standard-sized bedrooms, and you can provide your own bed, which is nice. They probably need to improve accessibility. Since they're a home, it's not necessarily designed for the handicapped."
