I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend moved into Whiterock Court. Another friend of mine had placed her mother there and really liked it, so we went to see it and my friend fell in love with it. They offered three meals a day. It was really a perfect spot for her. Everyone there was caring, loving, and friendly. The people that work there seemed really genuine. When you walk in, the restaurant is right there, and she just felt like she was home. Everybody was very welcoming when she walked in and they offered her to eat there right away. It's only five to ten minutes from where she's lived in East Dallas, so she understood the roads. It was close, so we liked the location too. The staff was just so helpful. They did a great job explaining everything and just answered all my questions. They all seemed to get along. It seemed like a family. They all enjoyed being together. They offered us the opportunity to eat there. They have a special every day, but you can order anything you want off the menu, and also if you're not feeling well you can call within an hour of food preparation and they will bring it to your room. I had spaghetti yesterday with green beans and a roll, and I met the chef and he was wonderful. They brought my friend and sat her next to somebody that they thought she would be good friends with. They introduced her to people on her floor. The food was hot and it was good. They had covered parking because my friend has a truck. They make it easy access to get in. They have a little shopping cart in the closet that you can roll up, take your groceries out, and roll it to your floor. They decorated for Christmas. They put Christmas packages down the hall by everyone's doors. They make it very welcoming. The first day we went there they were having a soiree, and my friend wanted to go to that, and they invited her even though she wasn't a member yet. She went to that. They have a bingo/bunco night. When we were there yesterday, at lunch, one of the ladies invited her to the women's book club they had. They have a social calendar that they put up and she was looking forward to going to those. We checked out other communities and this was half the price of the other one that we wanted to go into. They offer free cable. The value was wonderful. I would say it's a medium of the road value. It's not low end, it's not high end, it's medium road.

I visited this facility

The atmosphere at Whiterock Court was really positive. The rooms were kind of small, though. They're remodeling the new ones, and they're less than 300 square feet. The location was a little bit South. The dining area looked good and smelled good. I got there around noon, so they were serving lunch. I kind of got to see how they serve it. The studio apartment was way too small, but the whole place was clean, and all the staff members were very friendly and very explanatory on where everything was. I found parking easily, which was just for future residents. It was easy to get out of my car and walk to the office.

The main reason we moved Mom to Whiterock Court was the location. I also like her studio, which has an outdoor patio, and its people (some of the people there are from her original community). The facility is excellent. The food is fine. They have social activities and games. They also have transportation to stores. They're very attentive.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have moved into Whiterock Court. I felt totally at home the minute I walked through the door. Everyone has been more than kind and gracious, and I feel like we're one big family. We're all here for more or less the same reasons. We have family, but we want to have a place of our own. I have no complaints about anything. It has turned out to be very good. I have my own apartment and three meals a day, which turns out to be very good food. There are plenty of activities and transportation if you need it anywhere. It's a beautiful setting. I just couldn't be happier. I think I made one of the best choices I've ever made. The apartment that I have is a studio, which is just more or less one big room. It has a very big window overlooking some beautiful trees. I'm on the third floor. There's an alcove that the bed kind of fits in, so it's almost like a separate room. And of course, you have your own bathroom. They're indoor rooms, and you have a balcony on the outside. There are one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments available also. I can't say much about them because I have a studio, and I'm very happy with it. I also have a pet too, which is allowable here. I'm able to keep her, and that works out very well. They have a lot of activities every single day like bingo and dominoes. They play beanbag baseball. They have a very nice library, a salon onsite, physical therapy, and an exercise room. There's a grand piano here and someone comes in and plays the piano occasionally. They have activities where they go to restaurants or shows. You get a community calendar for a whole month and it's full.
