"I think that living in a nursing home would be awful, but since no one was able to care for my great-aunt any more, we had to place her in one. That being said, I can't imagine a better place than Welsh Home. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food seems good, and the facilities are clean. There are planned activities for the residents that many seem to enjoy, and a large common area for residents to relax and meet with family and other visitors. My great-aunt's room is shared with one other resident, and although it is not a large room, it doesn't feel terribly cramped. The furniture is comfortable and there is a television. The most important thing is that the attendants and other staff treat the residents with respect, and we feel comfortable knowing that my great-aunt isn't being mistreated or abused, and that she is safe and healthy there. "

"We moved my sister to O'Neill Healthcare Fairview Park. It's family-owned. I have tasted their food, and it's good. They have a chef, which is good. The only complaint is they have steak and chicken in lots of ways, and for me, that's not necessarily good. They don't have trouble keeping employees. Everybody seems very happy. It's one-story, so everything is on one floor. They have a front porch where they can go out and enjoy the fresh air. It's really nice. The facility is very well maintained. I rated it the highest number. The staff is very attentive. Every time I go in there with additional questions, they're very attentive and are always available. Regarding activities, I don't think they have very many, because these people are in the final stages. They have parties, get-togethers, and movies and stuff, but they don't have many physical activities. They have rehab services in the basement, and they take them down by elevator. They accept Medicare waivers, so that's a plus."

"My mother was diagnosed with alzheimer's disease in early 2007. At that time, it was manageable. She moved into our home & we went about our daily lives as best we could. About a year later in 2008, mom started showing significant signs of dementia as well & the heartwrenching decision to place her in a care facility was made. We visited numerous facilities & the one that really stood out to us was Manor Care in North Olmsted, Ohio. The staff there really cares about the patients as if they're family members of their own. The facility is extremely organized, efficient, & provide excellent alzheimers care. They've really been a blessing to us. As my mom slips further into the disease, not only are they taking excellent care of her, the staff there has been a godsend to our family. We visit almost daily & it never ceases to amaze me how much they really do care. I'd recommend this facility to anyone in a similar position. "

"I toured Bowen Elderly Care and spoke with Stephanie who owns and runs the place and she's outstanding. She's been calling me, checking up on me, and has been very active since I went and spoke with her. She's outgoing and she genuinely cares. The place was very clean and very organized. All of the residents seemed to be happy. It also smelled good. It was well kept and the owners were very thoughtful. There were drinks and snacks available. They were out and available for anybody to reach up and grab."

"During the time that my grand father and great uncle were being cared for at Manor Care, I visited multiple times and observed many aspects of the care provided. The staff were pleasant for the most part and some of the nurses really took a liking to and provided a type of friendship to my grand father. There was some issues with the physical therapy department keeping tabs on my great uncle. He often was not taken to his appointments for physical therapy after breaking his leg. He ended up staying an extra two weeks because of this. "

"What can I say: Life Care center of Westlake was amazing!!! My grandfather, grandmother, and great aunt have all been at this location. They were given the best care I could have ever expected. The staff treated them like family and were so caring and compassionate. The food was tasty to them and the activities offered were above expectations. We love lifecare so much that other family members have gone to the lifecare in their area as well."

"This isn't a nursing home, it's a short-term rehab care facility and everybody who enters is expected to be fully well within a few weeks. My relative was put in here after her doctors (two physicians who have practiced a long time at Lakewood Hospital and won awards, etc.) recommended she be put there for recovery from a post-surgical complication. The head of the Skilled Nursing disagreed with the doctors causing a big argument over whether my relative would be admitted there or not, and when she finally was I thought the people in charge did not provide her with very good care. For example, they did not follow dietary guidelines communicated through her doctors and left her alone in a situation that led to a fall (fortunately she wasn't injured). They were basically looking for an excuse to transfer her out and I was relieved when she did go to another facility as I was really afraid something would happen to her in there. I understand Lakewood Hospital may be closing soon anyway. "

"I honestly think that Lutheran Home was one of the best possible options for my grandmother. I didn't know much about nursing facilities at the time that my grandmother's health started to decline, but the individuals at this facility were more than helpful in the transition. The nursing staff and social workers were friendly and the doctors that saw my grandmother appeared to be knowledgeable about what they were doing. It seemed like all parties that were involved with the care of my grandmother truly cared about her health and well being. This seems like it would be an obvious trait of nursing facility staff, but with all of the residents that were staying at this facility at the time, it really shined through that Lutheran Home was among the best places for my grandmother to be. I was only with my grandmother during some of the daytime visiting hours, so I cannot comment on the evening staff, but what I can say is that I was very pleased with the individuals that I did have a chance to talk with. This was a very difficult time for my family, as my grandmother's health and mental status were declining rapidly, but it was made easier by the wonderful staff at Lutheran Home. "

"My mom was there for 4 weeks . She was in very bad shape when she got there. Even though my mother doesn't understand or speak any English, nurses and all the stuff were more than nice and understanding towards her. Care they provided for her was outstanding. I felt 100% safe that much mom was in safest possible institution. I would highly recommended to my family and friends. "

"Huntington Woods Care & Rehab Center was very clean. The wall painting and the decorations were very comforting and welcoming. The gentleman who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable. The rooms were large and they had private rooms with furnishings. So, they had dressers, end tables, and chairs in them. The dining area was clean. Residents were watching a movie when we went early in the afternoon. They also had a large room, like a physical therapy room, an outdoor patio, and areas to sit."

"My sister is at Wellington Place. It is fantastic. I could not be more pleased. I would definitely recommend it to others. What I like best about it is the care. "

"O'Neill Healthcare Lakewood is a senior facility that has assisted living when we need it. They have one-bedroom apartments that have everything that you need in them. They have laundry in every building and a lot of activities, like bingo and book clubs. They have a dining room, and you can either do your own cooking or use their dining room services at a very reasonable cost. If you want to eat dinner downstairs, it will cost you $4 a person for a meal or you can pay $200 a person and have all three meals a day. The cost of the rental of the apartment includes breakfast. The best thing about this place is that you still are living independently but there’s a caring staff there if you need them, including medical staff 24 hours a day. The community is maintained, very well taken care of, and doesn’t smell of urine. It’s a very nice place."

"My mother was in an extended care for awhile in Westlake. This facility is near us. There were three Rae-Ann facilities around that area but the one my mom was in had a stroke center. They deal with a lot of rehab for stroke patients and there's less emphasis on Alzheimer's and memory impairment stuff. We chose this facility because, firstly it had high rating. The other thing that was a real deal-sealer for us is that my parents live practically across the street from it. We felt it would be easy for my dad if he want to spend time with my mom. It was really the proximity. Also I live 15 minutes away from there, so it was easy for me to get there to help out with things and to visit. Rae-Ann wasn't really fancy but it was nice and clean. My first impression of it was that it looked a little old and kind of not so cheerful, but it turned out to be exactly what we needed. The staff was very kind. We never had any problems with them. They didn't neglect her. At times, we noticed that they would get confused about getting medications on time; however, they were very good to my parents. They even let my dad have a cot in my mom's room so he can stay there. They're wonderful about giving them what they needed to go through the situation emotionally. "
