Life Care Center of Westlake was built in the 1970s, so everything looked outdated. They had to share a room and there was no bathroom in their room. The rooms were small, and they were too close together. There was no privacy. It was kind of crowded, too. There were plenty of workers there to help the seniors. They were cleaning and not just sitting on their phones, but I saw the elderly just walking around. There were residents in wheelchairs just sitting outside their rooms, staring at the abyss. When I walked into the kitchen, it smelled good and it was nice and clean. I saw the salads were fresh. They had their dementia patients all in one room like they were having some kind of session. They have a nice outside patio. I just saw one guy watching TV and I didn't see anything else. I was there right before lunch, so they weren't doing too much. I didn't see too much interaction other than them just walking around doing their daily routines. A lot of them were getting physical therapy.

What can I say: Life Care center of Westlake was amazing!!! My grandfather, grandmother, and great aunt have all been at this location. They were given the best care I could have ever expected. The staff treated them like family and were so caring and compassionate. The food was tasty to them and the activities offered were above expectations. We love lifecare so much that other family members have gone to the lifecare in their area as well.

My mother has been a patient in the memory unit for 2 years. Many of the aides and some of the nurses have been excellent. Administration however has been terrible! There is never enough staff, good staff is let go and they retain staff they shouldn't. Repeated concerns have been brought to their attention with little resolution. The facility itself is in poor repair, and cleanliness is questionable. The memory unit does not have enough livable space for patients to enjoy a satisfactory quality of life. The food has been acceptable, even good at times. However it is not always served in a timely manner, leaving residents sitting and waiting for long periods of time. The cost of the care is not commensurate with the quality of care or condition of the facility. I would not recommend this facility for your memory impaired loved one. I can't speak to the other units in the facility, only to say that the entire building is in poor shape. Carpeting is in need of replacement as are many of the chairs, and other equipment.

My mother and my sister have been at this facility on several different occasions. They have always received excellent care and were able to return home. The therapists are very motivating with a great deal of compassion. The nursing team was on top of all their care needs. The food was very good and they had lots of choices. On top of that there was plenty to do when they were not in therapy and the outside yard was a nice place to relax. The staff was amazing to work with. Thank you Life Care for giving us so many positive experiences.

My sister is a patient there right now. The Cleveland Clinic sent her there for double transplant rehab. There are no words to express how horrendous the care has been. Not to mention she has cdif and they don't even use gloves and they dropped her bed pan all over the floor. She was blessed with new life from an organ donor and this place is going to kill her. I will be doing my best to get her moved! Don't send your loved one here, even if the clinic sells it by saying they are trained in transplant care.

My mom went in there for rehabilitation. Mom called me and asked to bring her the inhaler she used. I couldn't but a worker there said that he got the inhaler ok'd by the doctor there and that he would go to the drug store to pick it up. I called back at 7:30 that evening and asked a girl worker there if mom had her inhaler. She said she did have it with her. At 1:30 a.m. that night, I got a call from the hospital that they were trying to resusitate my mom. I called the nursing home and asked if she had her inhaler. The girl told me she did, but it didn't have a mouthpiece. I was lied to by the man who said her would pick up the inhaler and by the woman at 7:30 p.m. who said she had it with her. The inhaler wasn't even usable. My mom is dead.
