"I like the Renaissance at Olmsted Falls. I toured the place trying to get Mom in. I did it on a Saturday without the lady who normally tours. The lady at the front desk and one of the nurses were fantastic. They showed me around and told me more about the facility than usually most of these people who you make an appointment with. The room was fine. It was the people who worked there that really made it seem like it was a nice place to be. They had worked there for a long time. They were fantastic."

"My friend is now at O'Neill Healthcare Bay Village. She is in long-term care. The facilities are older and are very spread out. It's a little bit noisy. The staff are excellent though. They're very responsive and easy to talk to. The food is OK. However, my friend complains that there's not enough choice and they feed her too much. And I don't think the food is as good. There's a lot of fried and breaded food, which she doesn't like. The facilities are clean. The rooms are a decent size. The grounds are nice, but there aren't any places to walk or go sit outside. I think the assisted living people have activities, but the long-term care people don't even have a dining room. However, they're less expensive and they also take Medicaid, which makes a big difference."

"My brother is in Westlake Rehab & Nursing Center. He told me he liked the place. He doesn't like the food, but he likes everything else. For him, it's not that tasty, but it looks healthy. The place is very clean, and they take the residents out to activities which was great. They have several levels of care."

"I toured Bowen Elderly Care and spoke with Stephanie who owns and runs the place and she's outstanding. She's been calling me, checking up on me, and has been very active since I went and spoke with her. She's outgoing and she genuinely cares. The place was very clean and very organized. All of the residents seemed to be happy. It also smelled good. It was well kept and the owners were very thoughtful. There were drinks and snacks available. They were out and available for anybody to reach up and grab."

"My mother was diagnosed with alzheimer's disease in early 2007. At that time, it was manageable. She moved into our home & we went about our daily lives as best we could. About a year later in 2008, mom started showing significant signs of dementia as well & the heartwrenching decision to place her in a care facility was made. We visited numerous facilities & the one that really stood out to us was Manor Care in North Olmsted, Ohio. The staff there really cares about the patients as if they're family members of their own. The facility is extremely organized, efficient, & provide excellent alzheimers care. They've really been a blessing to us. As my mom slips further into the disease, not only are they taking excellent care of her, the staff there has been a godsend to our family. We visit almost daily & it never ceases to amaze me how much they really do care. I'd recommend this facility to anyone in a similar position. "

"My mother and my sister have been at this facility on several different occasions. They have always received excellent care and were able to return home. The therapists are very motivating with a great deal of compassion. The nursing team was on top of all their care needs. The food was very good and they had lots of choices. On top of that there was plenty to do when they were not in therapy and the outside yard was a nice place to relax. The staff was amazing to work with. Thank you Life Care for giving us so many positive experiences. "

"The caring staff , the immaculate surroundings , the respect the residents are given is what every family hopes to have for their family member. It is what my husband received at Lutheran home. The staff and management list end to your input and especially during this pandemic protects the residents."

"To start off, my grandmother is from Youngstown, Ohio. She sustained a fall and afterwards loss some mobility--due to a broken leg and loss some cognitive abilities. Luckily, she had great insurance and my sister and I set her up at this facility. We were impressed with the staff, the room and the overall accomodations. Clearly, the manager and the staff were familiar with such a difficult process and made it work smoothly for my sister and I. We were given the rules but not in a way that made you feel like a kid but in a way that was designed to show you how they do things in their facilities. They set my grandmother up with a exercise therapist who was to help her daily in trying to keep up with her movements. They also kept sheets that would document her progress so I was always informed as to what was going on with her even when she could not respond. Overall, my impresion and the facility was with overall staisfaction. My grandmother was there for a couple of months before she passed. The overall sutuation was very heavy on the heart--draining emotionally and physically. But I have nothing bad to say about the facility. the best compliment I can give is that I did not notice them which means that they did not hinder the process in such a stressful time. "

"My father is here. It is better than where he was at. I like it. The main issue was that he could have his pet with him there (because his cat is his whole world and more important than me). It was a more of a homey environment, as opposed to a hospital setting. It's not as institutionalized feeling. It looks like a Swiss chateau. It's nestled back in the woods. I didn't even know they were there, and I've lived in that neighborhood for over 30 years. The staff are excellent. They are really, really helpful. They call me any time anything happens or if they're going to do anything. Physical therapy comes in, and they let me know when they are there. They keep me abreast of visitations and what's going on. I'm very happy with them. My father loves their food. He is happy with his meals. I have seen him doing arts and crafts, but I haven't been up there when activities are going on. They give him a haircut once a month. They just took my father to go get his eye exam done, which was not free, but it was very reasonable. The fact of having that is a nice option. The staff have been phenomenal from day one. My father is in a locked ward. He can get access to the other parts of the facility, but he has to have someone with him. He doesn't have free range of the whole place. He can't go outside on his own because he has to be monitored, so he doesn't wander off. They have an ice cream or a malt shop in there. They have an actual bar in there."

"My dad was at Rae-Ann Suburban. I was not impressed with the facility itself. You walk in and you know you're in a nursing home. It was terrible. There were a couple of staff members there that didn't like their job, or they were just there because they had to be. I think they're shorthanded, and everybody was overworked. My dad ended up with COVID while he was in there, and he was ground zero, yet they still don't know where he got it from. And then they just locked him up in a room for ten days. It didn't seem like they really paid much attention to him. That was a pretty depressing time for him. However, the admission staff and his personal counselor there were topnotch. The patient advocate was really awesome, too. The food was terrible though. They need to improve on the variety and the portion of food. Sometimes they bring them a dinner that would just be a snack."

"I came across Berea by the social worker. This facility is not as fancy as the other facilities I've looked at so I?m giving this a 90% rate. They are really good and they are doing what they say. They assured me that my father would not be able get out and that?s important. The activities there falls a little short as far as the activity level, but then again I think it's because they are dealing with a little bit more dementia and Alzheimer?s patients. "

"The tour at The Welsh Home was okay. I didn't see any activities going on, and it was quite boring. The staff members were pretty good, and they were pleasant. The outdoor was beautiful. The rooms were okay, very clean, moderate, and just typical. They do have an outdoor place where you can take your loved ones and look up at the pretty scenery. The grounds were really beautiful, and their garden was pretty."

"My father was very unhappy, and I am very disappointed with Northwestern Healthcare. He doesn’t get the adequate care that he needs to. His daily regime that is ordered by the doctors isn’t followed. I have found him two days in a row in the same clothes. He is supposed to get eye care because he has had eye surgery and problems in the past which means warm compresses on his eyes once or twice a day and drops, and he has had problems which indicate they haven't done that. I warned them that he was someone with early onset to mid stage dementia, which has been clinically diagnosed. He needed to have an alarm on his bed and on his chair because he might be prone to wandering, and toward the end of July, he fell and knocked his head, and he had a tennis ball size knot on his head. Finally after that, they put an alarm on his bed and his chair. The follow sup that was insisted upon by the hospital like checking his blood, they refused to do, so I have had to make appointments and get him to a blood lab to see if his blood thinner needs to be changed. He had continual care checking on the status of his eye; I had to seek a private ophthalmologist. They put on events every once in a while, but there’s not any real space for them to be a real community. They’ve got a Veteran club; there’s all the trappings of it, but there’s no follow through. Some of the nurses are fantastic, and some of the aides are very good, but they are understaffed. High turnover. The food is good, but they could do more for what they charge. The specialist Brian is terrific. They could have more staff, and they could have more individualized care. Somebody who is on a dietary requirement should be looked into. There isn’t a component of dietary awareness because some things can unduly that are just to eat. You either are very consistent, or you don’t give it to him because they thin the blood. After meals, lemonade or fruit punch. There was an incident that required hospitalization in an emergency that the facility could have prevented because they were forewarned repeatedly ahead of time, and they chose to ignore it. "

"My brother's only been in Huntington Woods Care for a couple of days. He's not happy about it. He tripped and fell yesterday. Apparently, he didn't sustain any injuries. He has some medical condition where he retains a lot of fluid and that's what put him into the hospital. He weighs over 320 lbs. and it's all in his belly. He's only 60 years old, but he had open heart surgery for a faulty valve in 2003 and he never regained the use of one lung after the surgery. It's considered a chronic condition. I think the facility seem to be a little bit shorthanded. Sometimes it takes a while to get a response for a pain pill. And now my brother has to ring for help every time he goes to the bathroom. He's got a motion detection device on his bed. They're just trying to protect him and themselves. His room is huge and you can have a party in there. "
