My stepmother has moved into Rae Ann Suburban. The staff is very friendly, very helpful, and cordial. Anytime you call, they're just always too polite and never hateful. They never act like you're bothering them. My stepmother said they take good care of her. She's in a shared room. They have physical therapy and medical staff there. They have a salon where they can cut their hair. They have a library and stuff like that for the people. Sometimes she says the food is good, and sometimes she says it's not. It's every bit worth the money. It's a beautiful place. They have movie time. Mom said that they were playing bingo and doing some puzzles. The lawn is gorgeous. They have a big gazebo out in the backyard where residents can go out and sit. The grounds are just really pretty. She likes to read all the time and they have a library. She said she was done with just about every book that was in the library and she was starting over again. She just doesn't have a way of getting around to go places. They have a van that would take you places if it's an emergency. She would like to be able to go in the van to take her to the grocery store or whatever, but they did take her to the bank one day and they were only like two-tenths of a mile from the nursing home. She said, "I just wish that they would take us out more in the van to take us out places."

My brother is at Rae Ann Suburban. When you walk in, it's very pretty. Most of the staff is very friendly. The administration is friendly and seemed to care. I don't like the food and the staffing. I also don't like the rooms because they are tiny and they cram two people in. There might be a dresser, but it's only for one person. There is only one closet and they have shared bathrooms. They are always short-staffed. Most places are, but their staffing is to the point where it affects the care. There are very nice people there who try their hardest and then there are the ones that do as little as possible and are just miserable beings. My brother has allergies. It's written very clearly on his meal ticket. So I went to prove to him that they wouldn't give him anything he was allergic to and the thing that I tasted, I'm also allergic to, I ended up almost an anaphylaxis. There's food that's been delivered that just looks and smells rotten. The facilities are pretty, but it's not functional. They did a Christmas activity. They have an activity calendar and it's fairly full. So, they try to offer a lot to the residents.

My dad was at Rae-Ann Suburban. I was not impressed with the facility itself. You walk in and you know you're in a nursing home. It was terrible. There were a couple of staff members there that didn't like their job, or they were just there because they had to be. I think they're shorthanded, and everybody was overworked. My dad ended up with COVID while he was in there, and he was ground zero, yet they still don't know where he got it from. And then they just locked him up in a room for ten days. It didn't seem like they really paid much attention to him. That was a pretty depressing time for him. However, the admission staff and his personal counselor there were topnotch. The patient advocate was really awesome, too. The food was terrible though. They need to improve on the variety and the portion of food. Sometimes they bring them a dinner that would just be a snack.
