"When we walked into Vitalia Senior Residences at Strongsville, it was like a five-star hotel. The assisted living rooms were like apartments that had wreaths hung out on their doors, and it was very bright and cheery. They were just beautiful. The people we met were very, very nice. The chef came in with a platter of fruit and cheeses, and because it was the first one I looked at, we were sold on the studio that was on the first floor that had a little door to walk out onto a patio. However, the more I thought about it, I didn't know if the studio was fine because everything was in the same room. They had a pool inside the place though, an exercise room, a theater room where they hold virtual masses on TV, a library, physical therapy, and a dining room that was like a restaurant where you order off a menu. It was just beautiful."

"My mother stayed for respite. They were very friendly. It was very clean. They seemed genuinely concerned about my mother's welfare. Her room was very clean, it was pretty. It was really nice. It was perfect for Mom for what we needed. The facilities were a little older than some of the places I saw."

"My first impression of Cardinal Court Assisted Living and Memory Care was good. It is not a very large facility, but everything about it seems just fine. The place looked very nice inside. I was able to look into one of the rooms that my mother-in-law could have possibly stayed in, and I was very impressed with it. The rooms seemed to be very nice. They're very comfortable, nicely furnished, and have a nice layout. The staff member was great. She was very nice and very helpful. She was excellent. There were a lot of people sitting around, and watching television, and doing things on their own, but there was no organized activity that I observed."

"We toured Rose Senior Living - Avon. The people were great, courteous, and made us feel at home. They took us all the way around through the senior living apartments. They also have assisted living and an Alzheimer's unit. The problem with that is that I don't think I would be able to do it financially. The size of the rooms was adequate, and the upkeep was excellent. The dining area looked wonderful from our point of view. The parking area is large enough, and they even offer canopies for cars."

"Vitalia Active Adult Community at North Royalton had excellent meals, snacks, and food options. It was a brand new place. It was fantastic. Their bedroom was nice. They gave a good presentation of their place. The price was just pretty high."

"We chose Brooklyn Pointe for mom. I liked the cleanliness, the personable experienced staff, and qualified staff. The staff who gave us the tour had a positive attitude and clean hygiene and was professional. The rooms were clean, modern, up-to-date, and new. The dining area was clean and open space and had a friendly atmosphere."

"Independence Village of Avon Lake was very nice. If it was up to me, I would really think it should be a go, but I just don't think my mother is ready yet. They offer some assistance with the independent. The staff was great. The food was good. They had exercise. The rooms were great, and I saw three of them. There's 1-bedroom and 2-bedrooms, and they have a kitchen, a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. Everybody seemed very happy and comfortable. It's a great place. I have not one bad word to say about it. They have chefs that cook and then bring the food out. They have it set up for three days a week, you dine in, and four days a week, you dine in your room and they deliver it. They offer shuttle services. They have a good setup."

"In 2008, we lost our dear, 78 yr. old mother. My father had been an amazing caregiver to her for over a decade, due to her chronic illnesses. However, for the last few weeks of her life, she needed skilled nursing care. We were fortunate to find placement for her at Mount Alverna, where she had worked 20 yrs. ago. Each of the staff there cared for her like she was their own mother. They would even style her hair and paint her nails. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2010, we lost our beloved father in less than a month. It was his request to also die at Mount Alverna. The 15 days he spent their, prior to his death, were for us "time in God's waiting room." Again, our experience with ALL the staff, was something for which our family is forever appreciative. "

Danbury by far is the nicest. Cleanliness is key to their success and it shows. So many activities to do (or not - your choice!) and the pub, bistro, grounds, libraries, living areas are all great"

"My mother has been at Danbury Senior Living in Broadview Heights for 1-1/2 years. The entire staff at Danbury have been courteous, kind, respectful, and attentive to my mother. I have seen the staff also show the same courtesy to all their residents. Whenever an issue has occurred, I have been able to call or text the staff and they have replied and addressed my issues within a day or two. Having staff that take time to reply to issues in a timely manner shows they take pride in their work and want to ensure a safe, healthy, and enjoyable environment for their residents. It also informs care seekers their concerns are being thoughtfully listened to and addressed. I will share there were times, when first moving mother to Danbury, that I had to make repeated calls to the staff that my mom's bedding had not been changed on a weekly basis or her clothes had not been picked up for cleaning or billing issues for room service or Rx services were regularly occurring. However, the staff was responsive and met with me in person to discuss why these issues may have occurred. A positive outcome to resolve these issues was agreed upon by both parties. This helped ease my mind knowing that the staff understood the importance of care seekers being heard and that solutions could be addressed in a timely manner for their loved ones (i.e., my mom). The staff also encouraged me to continue bringing any issues to their attention, no matter how big or small. It is important to note that for many assisted living and memory care facilities, staffing is always an issue. It is the nature of healthcare in the U.S. However, the Danbury staff works hard to ensure there is always adequate and caring staffing for the residents. There are many choices for assisted living facilities, but selecting Danbury for my mother was a positive move."
