Assisted Living Communities in Middleburg Heights, OH

"My husband was in Mt. Alverna Village. He was in a shared room but each resident was on each side, so it looked like they had private rooms. The staff were there when he needed them and they kept him clean. The care he got seemed good and his condition improved. "

"Cardinal Court is a very new, clean, and modern community. I felt that they're too new. The person who gave me the tour had only been there for a couple of days and couldn't really offer me a lot of knowledge about the community. There weren't many residents yet, so it felt like we were walking around in an empty building. The staff members were all in one room because there was a family party, and once I met them, I could see that they were very engaged. I was shown a nice-sized, bright, and clean private room with its own bathroom. They provide three meals a day plus snacks. I think they need to build their business first. They don't provide transportation, so I would have to pick up my dad for his doctors' appointments."

"Private Bed Rooms are wonderful and very warm and spacious. Having your own bathroom is private and comfortable. Staff is so accommodating and caring. Evergreen is like living in your own home with wonderful meals, assistance to help when needed and activities to keep you engaged and friendly caring staff to assist you."

"This is a great program. I can not tell you how well they do with my mom. She was very isolated before attending daycare, now she is flourishing not only at daycare but at home. The staff is superb! "

"Sunrise At Parma was very nice, and it was high on our list, but they wanted $3000 upfront fee, and I thought it was just ridiculous. We liked it, but the fee was more than what I was willing to pay. Everybody that I talked to was very nice, and we liked the facility. It was the upfront fee that was a disqualifier. They had a very extensive facility, and it was very nice. "

"Sunrise of Rocky River was very nice as far as appearance, but they didn't have the accommodation for two-bedroom facility. The person who assisted us was very nice and very knowledgeable. She wanted to sell the place and get us to go there. The dining area was very nice, but you're limited to times that you can go for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sunrise of Rocky River was a small place that did not have too many rooms. They had lots of windows and lots of lights; however, people were mostly just sitting around. There wasn't much going on at all. There weren't any activities."

"We checked Vitalia Active Adult Community North Olmsted. It's way too far out and way too much traffic; but otherwise, it was absolutely gorgeous. They have wonderful staff, wonderful facility, and beautiful apartments. It would have been a perfect place for my parents if it was not too far out. They have another assister building not too far away that is a skilled nursing home, but it's not on the same site. We would have physically had to move my parents about 10 miles for the next step down. They are connected to each other literally through a walkway. They actually have not officially opened their assisted living yet. There are only two people living in that facility right now because they were waiting for their license to get there. Then they have seven others to move in there, and then they have lots of rooms available. We did get to tour it, but they weren't going to be ready for more people to move into like the beginning of September. As far as their full meals, the kitchen was not up yet. The residents that were living there were in the assisted living side. It's a brand new building, and they have just finished building it. They had two people on that side working full time: a nurse and a nurse's assistant. They had an activities person over there working right now. We met everybody that was there at the time, and they were fantastic. The distance is the problem; it is way too far, and it is really in the middle of nowhere. It literally is on the North Olmstead-Westlake border. The problem is it's in the middle of a MetroPark, and there's really nothing that they could walk to to do anything. There's a very busy road that runs right past it."

"My mother recently passed away just shy of 98. The staff was heartbroken. We couldn’t have asked for better care, a more caring staff, and kinder fellow residents. Our only regret is that we didn’t move her there sooner. "

"We toured it and chose it for my parents. The staff who accommodated us was wonderful. The room was a 1-bedroom apartment, but they had other options. They had several group activities going on, and the facilities were nice, both dining rooms and common rooms. They had buses to appointments and tours."

"The tour we had at Vitalia Rockside - Active Adult Community was very nice. The young lady that I worked with was so sweet. She made me feel comfortable. I had some questions that she said she would look into for me and she also told me, "You can come here and join us for things. If you want, I'll send you a calendar when things go on and you could come and join us." I thought that was nice. It's modern. They didn't have a lobby or a place where people could go outside of their rooms. All they had in the middle of it that I saw was their dining area. There weren't a lot of rooms like seating rooms and things like a lot of them have. They said there was a library on another floor, but I didn't see it. The food was awesome. They offered me lunch. The menus were very good. I had an omelet and it was very good. They have a bakery and things, restaurant style, where you can just go and get something all day whenever you want. The chef is good. They gave me strawberries, and they were fresh and so good."

"My wife has been a resident of Danbury Broadview Heights for about two years now. It's been a very, very good experience. She's very well taken care of and they're very, very good at what they do. She has a single room, and it's in the memory care division. It's very clean, very neat, and well taken care of. They have fishing, coloring, painting, and exercise. There is a courtyard and there are also sidewalks all around the building that they can walk on. The food is great here."

"I had a very good experience at Westlake Village. Both of the individuals that I talked to were able to answer my questions. They were wiling to sit down and go over the financial aspects with me and looked at the options and alternatives. I took my mom to visit it and she really liked it. Although, I thought it was a lot larger than what I wanted for my Mom because I thought she needed a smaller environment to get better, I felt comfortable with them. With my few visit there, I got the impression that everybody was happy and was receiving the level of care that they needed. I was hoping to get her in but did not got the chance to do so. "

"I'm a resident here, and it's very good. It has 72 residents, so it's not huge, and everyone knows everybody. They have bingo, movies, bowling, pool, and go to the casino, shopping, and restaurants. They have prayer service, Scrabble, board games, coffee hour, and monthly meetings with the residents to try to improve their activities. They have medical staff, who are pretty good and do their best to take care of our needs."

"The young lady that showed us around did a wonderful job. Kim was very helpful and knowledgeable, and I was very impressed with her. She made us feel like it would be a good place for my dad to live. We were very impressed with the facility as well. It just seemed like a very caring, comfortable, and warm place. It wasn't too large and it was cozy. The residents there looked happy and everybody was very friendly."
