Vitalia Rockside - Active Adult Community

Vitalia Rockside - Active Adult Community is very nice. The rooms are very spacious. When my father was alive, he had a lot of complaints about the food. As far as the staff is concerned, the help is not great and the responsiveness of the director is poor. They've had a big turnover in staff, and there's just no real good communication. The food is pretty bland and there's not a lot of variety. The service is very slow. They have an activity calendar that they post. They have a Friday happy hour and Mom likes to play bingo. If they can keep true to what they are promising, they will improve. Mom doesn't mind paying for the care, she's just not getting the care that she's paying for such as, they aren't taking the trash out daily, they aren't changing the linens lately, they aren't doing her laundry weekly, and they're not assisting her to the bathroom as they should. We just think the care overall is lacking.

We toured Vitalia Rockside - Active Adult Community. We viewed everything. The directors toured us around. We saw the availalble apartments and things of that nature. Everything was very nice, and we enjoyed our visit with them. They have a lot of activities for male seniors. They have a men's group there to help men bond with other men because the population is usually more female to male when it comes to seniors, so they try to help out the men who live there as well.

My parents have been residents in the independent living at the Rockside community for 7 months. Is it perfect? No. But they are attentive to concerns and make an effort to rectify any problems. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are a fair number of activities. They try to have events for special days. My parents frequently talk about the beautiful valentines day dinner and the eclipse party. There was a women’s tea for Christmas that my mom thoroughly enjoyed. My mom moved from their home reluctantly. Yesterday she told me she doesn’t miss her house anymore and that she loves her new home at Vitalia. That speaks volumes!

The tour we had at Vitalia Rockside - Active Adult Community was very nice. The young lady that I worked with was so sweet. She made me feel comfortable. I had some questions that she said she would look into for me and she also told me, "You can come here and join us for things. If you want, I'll send you a calendar when things go on and you could come and join us." I thought that was nice. It's modern. They didn't have a lobby or a place where people could go outside of their rooms. All they had in the middle of it that I saw was their dining area. There weren't a lot of rooms like seating rooms and things like a lot of them have. They said there was a library on another floor, but I didn't see it. The food was awesome. They offered me lunch. The menus were very good. I had an omelet and it was very good. They have a bakery and things, restaurant style, where you can just go and get something all day whenever you want. The chef is good. They gave me strawberries, and they were fresh and so good.

My sister is at Vitalia Rockside Active Adult Community. I like everything about it. I like the size of the rooms and the meal plans. Everybody is very friendly. She is in a mini apartment. She opted for the one that has two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and two bathrooms. The food is very good. The dining area is clean, big, and accommodating. You can order food just about all day long until about 6:00. It's a regular restaurant where they have a menu and specials every day. They have all kinds of activities, too. They have card games, they have puzzles to put together, they have different crafts during the day, and they have field trips. I think the value for money is good.
