"Vitalia Highland Heights is a brand-new facility. They just opened. I was very impressed with the independent living quarters that they offered. There were two spaces available. There are two bedrooms with a nice large living area and a kitchen that has everything. I know that if I wanted to, I could cook and bake there. There's a seating area in the kitchen. You don't have to have a dining room table, but it's big enough that you could have people sit down there on both sides. You could probably get maybe 4 or 5 people sitting in this area. They have beautiful two bathrooms that are bigger than what I'm living in right now. They have a washer and dryer, which is very important to me. The price is OK. I think they want $4005 or somewhere around there, maybe close to $5000 a month. They offer a lot of bus trips and typical things. They have a pool. They have everything. They have invited me twice now to come for lunch and their food is excellent. If you have a car, they have a covered parking area and that's $75 a month. That's high, and all it does is that there's a parking area where everybody parked right next to each other. You just have a roof over the outdoors. It's not an enclosed garage."

"Waterford at Richmond Heights is a very nice facility. They have game room and a nice library. My sister got a small apartment with a living room, a kitchenette and a bedroom. At first, we had adjustment issues when she went there, like she stopped eating, etc., but she's doing well now. The staff are very helpful. She is getting good care from them. My sister does have dementia and she doesn't have the presence of mind to ring a bell or anything, so they have her on the schedule where they would come and check her every couple of hours. She has gotten used to the care and to the routine and she's getting a lot better now. We went up there for her birthday and were going to take her out but the director said, "Why don't we just put you in a private dining room and let her have lunch here with you guys, because it's upsetting to her to be in a new environment?" So they gave us a real nice lunch and they had some birthday cake for her. It was a very nice touch. "

"This facility is one of many in our area. It was a little out of my family's price range, but I must say it was impressive. The grounds are kept rather immaculately and the entire facility is more of a campus for assisted care and apartments for self-sufficient retirees. We visited two times, both random open door invitations where we found a friendly staff all around, a piano player for the dinner meals, and a very caring staff. I think it goes back to the fact that you're paying for this kind of quality, but they were straightforward about costs and looked into every avenue of how my grandfather's insurance plan might be utilized. A friend of ours has put both of his parents here at separate times and gave us the recommendation. He told us some of his fondest memories were getting to walk around the area with his father, which is located very closely to a village town with many shops, parks, and waterfalls. A great way to retire, and, again, costly and impressive."

"My dad is now in Hilltop Village. It's good for people living independently, but he doesn't fit the criteria because he needs a higher level of care. Sometimes, somebody comes by and would do some cleaning on his room, but I'm generally doing the cleaning myself. They have activities like bingo, singing here and there, a television and a TV room. Since it's an independent living, the people here come and go. They pay for meals and they're provided the meals. They have a cafeteria, but it comes as part of his rent. They've got a laundromat and a big cafeteria, so they're good with the amenities and the building is good."

"The tour we had at Vitalia Rockside - Active Adult Community was very nice. The young lady that I worked with was so sweet. She made me feel comfortable. I had some questions that she said she would look into for me and she also told me, "You can come here and join us for things. If you want, I'll send you a calendar when things go on and you could come and join us." I thought that was nice. It's modern. They didn't have a lobby or a place where people could go outside of their rooms. All they had in the middle of it that I saw was their dining area. There weren't a lot of rooms like seating rooms and things like a lot of them have. They said there was a library on another floor, but I didn't see it. The food was awesome. They offered me lunch. The menus were very good. I had an omelet and it was very good. They have a bakery and things, restaurant style, where you can just go and get something all day whenever you want. The chef is good. They gave me strawberries, and they were fresh and so good."

"My Grandmother lived at Mt. Alverna for nearly 7 years. Dedicated staff, beautiful & clean atmosphere. Excellent interactive programs & entertainment for the patients. She maintained her dignity there during her final years of life. "

"We went to Vitalia Mentor for a tour. It is beautiful. However, we are the first generation of not being blue collar. We are kind of in the middle of the middle class, and the Vitalia Mentor was a little bit snooty. It just felt like you didn't want to touch anything. It was set up beautifully. They emphasized that they had food available all the time. But, it didn't feel like my mom, who grew up on a farm, was going to fit in there. Nevertheless, I could see friends of mine bringing their parents to live there in a heartbeat. It's very nice. It is just not suitable for Mom. The building is only three years old, but it is not homey. The lady who did the tour was very friendly and very nice. She listened to Mom really well. We only saw one apartment because I don't think there were any empty units. There is also no place to sit outside there for the residents. The amenities were the same. They had a big theater set up to watch movies, which was nice. A laundry room is available, like the other place. They have a small gym. The staff didn't really say too much about the activities, which is one of the main reasons we want to move my mom where she is around other people. However, there were more people in the hallways and residents to say hello to or that kind of thing at Vitalia Mentor than there were at the other place. They have a whole kitchen thing available with all kinds of food, and it's like being at home. The room was considerably smaller than the other place, and maybe that was because somebody was living there; it wasn't just staged, and so therefore he had more stuff in there, so that could be. It turns out that they were also out of our price range. The staff member who gave the tour was pretty tuned in; she did a good job."

"My father was a resident at Independence Village. The process of moving in and familiarization was handled very professionally and efficiently. The entire staff, from the Executive Director down to the handyman, were friendly, caring and responsive to the needs of my father and other members of my family. In particular, the facility was very flexible in terms of meeting my father’s care needs. The food was excellent and the facility was always sparkling. Having worked in healthcare myself, I was very familiar with the wide range of quality in various facilities; I would rate Independence Village near the very top."

"Parker Place was very nice but it was also very pricey. They have three cooked meals a day in the dining room, a cleaning service, a bed change service, rides to the doctors and stores, outings to casinos, and Bingo nights. They have a lot going on."

"I chose to be here. I picked the room I’m moving into. They explained the activities, and it sounded like they can keep me active. There were people talking to each other when I was there. I was very impressed with what I saw. The dining area looked big, it looked inviting, and you would think that it was a restaurant. It’s a nice looking, antsy place. They have an exercise room."

"We have been staying at Vitalia Active Adult Community at North Royalton for nine months. We have games. They have an outdoor walking club here. They have somebody leading a gentle exercise. We go to lunch and dinner every day in the big dining room, which is quite nice. It is a very beautiful facility. The facility is new. All the staff are very nice. I would not have anything negative to say about them. The servers in the dining room are wonderful. They get to know everybody's name, and that's a good thing. I'd say the only problem here, which I'm sure is just about everywhere you go, is that sometimes there just isn't quite enough staff. Sometimes serving in the dining room is slow because there are only a couple of people available to help with it. There is a good variety of activities available. I was a little disappointed that I'd already received an increase before my full year was up."
