"Rose Senior Living Beachwood has more social things, but they're very expensive. They're over $5050 to $6000 a month. Two meals are included. They've got the pool, a courtyard, and bus trips. They've got activities, a beauty shop, and everything. They're very, very professional. They've invited me for lunches and get-togethers with groups of people who are thinking of getting into the facility. The building was nice."

"We went to Vitalia Mentor for a tour. It is beautiful. However, we are the first generation of not being blue collar. We are kind of in the middle of the middle class, and the Vitalia Mentor was a little bit snooty. It just felt like you didn't want to touch anything. It was set up beautifully. They emphasized that they had food available all the time. But, it didn't feel like my mom, who grew up on a farm, was going to fit in there. Nevertheless, I could see friends of mine bringing their parents to live there in a heartbeat. It's very nice. It is just not suitable for Mom. The building is only three years old, but it is not homey. The lady who did the tour was very friendly and very nice. She listened to Mom really well. We only saw one apartment because I don't think there were any empty units. There is also no place to sit outside there for the residents. The amenities were the same. They had a big theater set up to watch movies, which was nice. A laundry room is available, like the other place. They have a small gym. The staff didn't really say too much about the activities, which is one of the main reasons we want to move my mom where she is around other people. However, there were more people in the hallways and residents to say hello to or that kind of thing at Vitalia Mentor than there were at the other place. They have a whole kitchen thing available with all kinds of food, and it's like being at home. The room was considerably smaller than the other place, and maybe that was because somebody was living there; it wasn't just staged, and so therefore he had more stuff in there, so that could be. It turns out that they were also out of our price range. The staff member who gave the tour was pretty tuned in; she did a good job."

"I found Parker Place, and it's working out great. They were very welcoming and helpful in all aspects of my transition. They have nice programs and a great program director. The head of sales was very helpful, too. They couldn't have done anything more for me. I am happy and pleased that I moved in. They are very warm and friendly people. I have a spacious one-bedroom apartment with a queen-sized bed. I moved my furniture last week. It is nice, and the carpet is fresh. The staff cleans it once a week. They serve everybody three times a day. Some days are better than others. The facility is maintained very well. It's good value. However, while Parker Place has kitchenettes, the other place has full kitchens."

"Right now my dad is at Solon Pointe because that is where they can accept Medicaid waiver for him because he is not able to self-pay. He is up on the second floor in the memory care and they want to see if they can try to transition him to the downstairs area and eventually get him over to his own studio in the assisted living. He has been there since April 3rd and he is not happy because he says the place is too clinical. The facility needs a little updating, but I am sure the Alzheimer’s patients don’t really care. The nursing staff is very good and treating him well. The two nurses who we talked to said that they wouldn’t mind having him back. If a family member couldn’t ride with him to appointments, that they will transport him there with someone and bring him back. Their assisted living side looks good and they’ve have a lot of activities going on. Their dining room and little library area look nice, and their assisted living side looks really nice."

"My visit at Hamlet at Chagrin Falls was kind of brief. It seemed to be a really nice facility. They have a facility called the Atrium. I guess that has everything on one site where they can eat and watch TV and fellowship. I didn't have much interaction with the staff. They did have a library, which I thought was nice. I didn't see a gym. The unit was clean. I liked the area that it's in, Chagrin Falls, and it's a very nice city. The buildings are a little older. I think it could use some modernization. It felt like a senior institution."

"Vitalia Senior Residences of Solon was very large, but I did like it. The facility was very clean. The staff was just very helpful and answered all my questions. The amenities were very good. They have a gym, a salon, a recreation room, and a party room."

"I toured Danbury Mentor. Their version of independent living is that you have to take on the burden of all the meals there. They have things available, then you pay for this and you pay for that. So it's not what I call independent living. I mean, you can have a car. It's pretty good, it's just that I realized it's very competitive. It's kind of pricey for someone who is in relatively good health. I'm still driving. I can still get around. I can do my own shopping and so forth. So I don't wish to be in my situation confined to a facility where everything is done for me. The staff was very helpful."

"My parents have been residents in the independent living at the Rockside community for 7 months. Is it perfect? No. But they are attentive to concerns and make an effort to rectify any problems. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are a fair number of activities. They try to have events for special days. My parents frequently talk about the beautiful valentines day dinner and the eclipse party. There was a women’s tea for Christmas that my mom thoroughly enjoyed. My mom moved from their home reluctantly. Yesterday she told me she doesn’t miss her house anymore and that she loves her new home at Vitalia. That speaks volumes!"

"Wow! This community was spectacular! Being brand new, everything is top notch! Atmosphere was calm yet spirited! The most beautiful community I've been to yet! The food was prepared by a chef with top skills in presentation and taste! The staff were all welcoming and genuine. I left feeling renewed and hopeful. Prices were lower than I would ever expected for such an amazing location! Definitely top of my list!"

"My Grandmother lived at Mt. Alverna for nearly 7 years. Dedicated staff, beautiful & clean atmosphere. Excellent interactive programs & entertainment for the patients. She maintained her dignity there during her final years of life. "

"The Normandy was lovely. It was a very nice facility. I've been there twice, and everyone had been very friendly. The rooms were beautiful. When we went there, they had lovely cookies. They had a chef, so those looked quite good. I absolutely recommend this community to others. "

"We have been staying at Vitalia Active Adult Community at North Royalton for nine months. We have games. They have an outdoor walking club here. They have somebody leading a gentle exercise. We go to lunch and dinner every day in the big dining room, which is quite nice. It is a very beautiful facility. The facility is new. All the staff are very nice. I would not have anything negative to say about them. The servers in the dining room are wonderful. They get to know everybody's name, and that's a good thing. I'd say the only problem here, which I'm sure is just about everywhere you go, is that sometimes there just isn't quite enough staff. Sometimes serving in the dining room is slow because there are only a couple of people available to help with it. There is a good variety of activities available. I was a little disappointed that I'd already received an increase before my full year was up."
