My mom is now living in Parker Place. She is in independent living, but we took all the other stuff away from her as far as meals and having to write out checks and worry about all that stuff, so that's made it a lot easier for her. They have activities going on there for them, like little games they play, and bingo. My mom seems to really enjoy it, so it's been good. The staff has been very good to her, and they're just accommodating. My mom seems to be happy with the meals, too. And when she had issues with TV, they seemed to take care of it right away for her. And it's only like two miles from my house. I've eaten there twice and it's good. My mom complains a little bit because she said in the morning by the time she gets her eggs or something, they're like lukewarm, but that's the only thing she's ever said. The facility is very clean and it smells clean. The place is always immaculate. The hallways are immaculate, too, and my mom has been very happy with the staff. They come in and they clean her room. They change her sheets once a week. She tells me once in a while that they're like family, and they're just really so nice. So that's good. And from what I see posted, they have plenty of activities. They've got a bus there and they occasionally take them out to a restaurant someplace.

I toured Parker Place. I didn't like the way the one-bedroom apartment was made. It made me think too much of a hotel. The guy who did the tour was pushy, even to the point that he showed up at my apartment without phoning to say he was coming after I had visited. He showed up one day. He said he just wanted to bring me some sweet rolls and he had some cinnamon rolls, but I just thought it was inappropriate because he hadn't called to see if it was okay to come, let alone call to say he was coming. What they did is independent living because, for assisted living, you pay somebody separately for the assistance you need. We hadn't set up for a meal or anything, but one thing I noticed, things looked nice. I remember seeing a bowl that had fruit in it. They said, "Help yourself", but I looked and each piece of fruit was 5 cents. So it wasn't like they could just pick the fruit up. The facility was very clean, and the activities person was very nice.

Parker Place Mentor was very nice, but I know my brother is not gonna be happy to be in a room and they're gonna have restricted hours to go out or to go in. He's not outgoing either. The staff was very nice. The place was very nice and clean. He just doesn't see himself there. We looked at a studio, we saw the dining area, which was very nice, like a reception for a wedding or something, the carpet was nice and clean, and they had decoration for Christmas. The staff was very knowledgeable and told us everything that we needed to know. It's brand new almost, maybe less than five years.

Parker Place was very nice but it was also very pricey. They have three cooked meals a day in the dining room, a cleaning service, a bed change service, rides to the doctors and stores, outings to casinos, and Bingo nights. They have a lot going on.

I was very impressed with Parker Place. It's close to my house and we know a couple of people there. The man who took us around was excellent and answered all our questions. We had lunch -- it was wonderful -- I can't say enough about the place. We saw activity areas, there's a beautiful piano, they have dances, and the residents recently went to a casino.

My aunt is there at Parker Place, and she has been there for a long time. It is very nice. Fortunately, my uncle had a good enough pension, so when he died, the pension helps her in, and also she gets assistance from the WWII Veterans. I visited Parker Place for my mother. It is a very high-end place. When you walk in, you feel like you're in like a grand hotel. Their lobby is large. It has a big crystal chandelier on the middle. It has staircases on each side. We had a free lunch there, and the food was very good. There are a lot of couples living there also. They have two- or three-bedroom apartments. They also have a lot of facilities like an exercise room, a full library, and a general TV room. The dining room is very elegant, i.e. real china and real silverware. It is like you're at a nice restaurant. The service is good. We didn't have to wait long. You can pick your menu for the day or the week. Unfortunately, we just could not afford it for my mother.

Everything is gorgeous at Parker Place. I think the facility is just a couple years old. The rooms were excellent. I can?t hardly name all the activities discussed, but they have a recreation room, a library, exercise room, and a barber shop. They have a bus shuttle for the residents, and I know they also have Wii bowling and cooking classes.
