"My mother-in-law has been placed at Vista Springs Quail Highlands assisted living. It's very well-run, very clean, and everybody has been very helpful and friendly. The aides and nurses, even the administrators, they're very welcoming and forthcoming with information. They have a lot of activities. They have a cooking club, knitting, they do puzzles, play cards and they have movie nights. She has her bedroom, bathroom, a smaller living area, and a little kitchenette."

"I toured Danbury Mentor. Their version of independent living is that you have to take on the burden of all the meals there. They have things available, then you pay for this and you pay for that. So it's not what I call independent living. I mean, you can have a car. It's pretty good, it's just that I realized it's very competitive. It's kind of pricey for someone who is in relatively good health. I'm still driving. I can still get around. I can do my own shopping and so forth. So I don't wish to be in my situation confined to a facility where everything is done for me. The staff was very helpful."

"My mother-in-law is in Lantern of Saybrook. It's very clean. The staff is amazing with her and very pleasant with the rest of the family. It's beautiful, very welcoming, they have it decorated, and there's a big pond out front, and it always has Canadian geese there. They have birdfeeders all around. For those residents that can go out and walk around, the grounds are very clean and kept nice. It smells good. It's just very homey and comfortable. She seems to like the food real well. The dining area is very spacious and they're very attentive to those who require help. They get to select what they want to eat. I think they could improve on the money option. They have a library, a beauty salon, and for those who are able to go outside, they have benches and different things. They have a lot of activities inside for the residents that cannot go outside as well."

"What a wonderful place to have rehab! Friendly staff and residents! Food was great! "

"I loved the area where it was opened up, and they had lights that would dim to make it look like night time for 'em, or the lights would be bright when it was supposed to be sunny. They have live plants in there, they have a fountain, things like that that I haven't seen in other places. One area did have a urine smell, but then again that's what they can't control, which I understand. It wasn't really, really bad, but there was an odor. Somebody could have just been cleaned up, I don't know. It looked pretty good, pretty average for everything that I've been in. It was more homey."

"We chose Rolling Fields for my husband. It's good so far, the staff is good, he hasn't been there too long, and I haven't had any issues or anything. It's a very small community, it's sort of in a country setting, and it's very pretty there. He's able to be up and around, they have a courtyard where they can go outside, so he likes that, I know."
