I liked the fact that it was clean. They had a courtyard and a big indoor dining area. I think it's near a hospital, shopping, and restaurants."

"Maple Ridge Senior Living seemed wonderful. They were very friendly. It was beautiful. It's just not affordable. They were very attentive and brought in lunch, and it was really good. It was clean, and the structure wasn't falling apart. The atmosphere was very comforting. They were having some kind of party in the lounge. They had music outside. The size of the rooms was OK."

"My sister moved into here. The place is beautiful. The rooms are small, like all of them, but it's very clean. When you walk in the door of their restaurant, it's almost like a restaurant. So, you don't get a lot of the smell that you get at some of the other places. It smells like food and it's very clean. You sign in and sign out, so whoever is at the desk has always been friendly. They have a whole calendar of activities. They have trivia nights, music nights, a movie theater, and a gym, and they're always doing something. My sister said the food is very good. It's only been a couple of weeks, but she's very happy. Everything I hear from her is positive."

"I went here. I was impressed with that. I liked the fact that it was very intimate. The memory care was on the third floor. I visited it twice, and I liked the fact that they were doing crafts, and that everyone was engaged. They had good music, and they displayed their work, too. Everybody seemed to be having a great time. The facility itself was very nice and very well done. All the rooms are accessible where everybody can see everybody, and that kind of thing. I like that environment. That's nice. The staff I met were very engaging and open. The residents seemed to be involved and engaged. One lady said she really enjoyed the food. It was close to the library and a shopping mall, so it's like a bustling metropolis around there, that kind of thing. For me, that's more important than having a garden. I think people like to see activities."

"Vitalia Mentor looked OK. The thing that I didn't like about them is they had a shower that was so tiny, maybe three feet, and then there was a lip. It wasn't like a walk-in shower. So, that was not suitable for my uncle. Nothing's special with the facility. The staff was average."

"My mother is at Alpine House of Maple Heights. The first thing I like about it, for my mother's situation, is getting her away from danger. I like that the other residents there were in the same situation (and some different situations) and she would be able to be social rather than staying at home alone while me and my daughter work. She gets to meet people and be social, so I love that about it. I love the fact that they take them out on outings like to any grocery store they want to go to or any shopping center they want to go to. Also because my mom is a recovering drug addict, they even have NA meetings there. They have a beauty shop there, so my mother doesn't have to necessarily go out for her haircut because now she can stay and get her haircut. They have 24-hour care where they have nurses, 24 hours. They have a doctor that comes in regularly. They have restaurant-style dining. The apartment is a nice size, too. It's also very, very clean. The staff are so nice and pleasant. They are so caring and understanding. When I went to visit with my mom last week, it was lunchtime, and they offered me a meal. The meals were pretty nice. They're almost like home-cooked meals. We had tuna casserole, and it was really good. Another thing is that they have activities. They have a whole big old room for activities. They have an in-house spa and residents can make an appointment to go to the spa. They have different activities throughout the day. They leave out books, coloring pages, and crossword puzzles on different tables. And then they set up time for different activities also."

"I was able to tour The Preserve at Mentor Ridge. It was a beautiful building and the staff all seemed to be great. They bragged about their food, and I liked that they don't have a set schedule and you can eat whenever. Like if you slept in that day, you could have breakfast at 10:00 a.m. in the morning. The person who took me on the tour was very knowledgeable of the facility, and they showed us kindness about the care that they would give my dad. They had a courtyard, a game room, they had all these little alcoves to go in and sit quietly if you wanted to. They also have balconies to go and sit outside under cover. They had somebody read the newspaper out loud to the residents in the morning and do other activities."

"The Woods at Solon Pointe was a very nice facility. The food was delicious. It was like gourmet restaurant quality and worthy of being paid for. The people working there were very nice. They just couldn't accommodate both my in-laws. There's a lot of shopping around the community. My mother-in-law is in a wheelchair and she could've gotten around by herself in the actual community or outside. It's a beautiful facility."
