"Right now my dad is at Solon Pointe because that is where they can accept Medicaid waiver for him because he is not able to self-pay. He is up on the second floor in the memory care and they want to see if they can try to transition him to the downstairs area and eventually get him over to his own studio in the assisted living. He has been there since April 3rd and he is not happy because he says the place is too clinical. The facility needs a little updating, but I am sure the Alzheimer’s patients don’t really care. The nursing staff is very good and treating him well. The two nurses who we talked to said that they wouldn’t mind having him back. If a family member couldn’t ride with him to appointments, that they will transport him there with someone and bring him back. Their assisted living side looks good and they’ve have a lot of activities going on. Their dining room and little library area look nice, and their assisted living side looks really nice."

"My mom lives in a beautiful apartment that she loves. It has lots of windows with southern and eastern exposure. She sits in the sun and is so happy. Her family thinks the staff is top notch. Mom has heard opera singers, pianists, made gingerbread men and played Bingo. The new Activities Director makes it a point to visit my mom and ask if she wants to participate in various activities. We are thrilled that she gets out of her apartment and mingles with the other residents (with masks on of course). She doesn’t have much of an appetite but loves the soups and desserts."

"My friend's mother moved into Legacy Place 3 years ago. It's very clean, warm , and she gets very good care. Her unit is beautiful. Her daughter decorated it and made it as nice. The staff treats you very nicely. But I know my friend was very frustrated, and it took a while to get them onboard with things. Every now and again she complains about stuff and she writes the owner, or she has a meeting with the nursing staff, because they do have nurse on staff in the assisted living side, which was important for my friend and her brother. Her mother can't speak so it's critical that they try. They have a parlor, live entertainment probably twice a month, parties for the holidays, and they do bingo. My friend's mom is a little bit cognitively impaired due to her brain injury, but she knows what's going on. She just can't communicate. We go there sometimes and just have dinner with her. I do know for a fact that their laundry facilities aren't really great. As a matter of fact, my friend gets her mother's laundry twice a week and brings it home. "

"Avenue at Brooklyn Care and Rehabilitation Center is a brand-new facility. I just liked it because the rooms were private and clean, and mom has her own bathroom. She has a nice view. Based on what I've seen, it looks like a 5-star hotel to me. They only had one tenant there at the time I went. They have nice-sized rooms where she can move around. All the rooms are big enough for someone who's in a wheelchair or a walker. They have enough space that they're not bumping into stuff. They had several dining rooms for them to eat at. They had the main dining room with a grand piano in there. So it looked like they were going out to eat. I just like it because it's quiet and it's private, and it was something that my mom could transition into. They have an outdoor area for them to walk around. They also have a little library kind of setting or a computer room/library, an exercise room or a therapy room, and a beauty salon if they need their hair cut or nails done. They also had a bistro. They have an activities room for them to do activities. If mom was to get worse, she would just move into the same building but to another section of the building where they have Alzheimer's and dementia patients."

"My dad is currently at Seven Hills Health & Rehab Center. What I like most about the rehab facility is the coordinator. She is accessible. I like the accessibility to be able to talk to her when I need to talk to her about what's going on, because I just did a power of attorney with my dad. The front office is also very accessible; it's not hard to reach them. When you walk in, it's excellent. People are there and they're receptive. When I go to my dad's room, they know he is demanding, and they know that they have to be on their game with him. My dad is not so far gone that he's going to give you a pass. It's an excellent facility. My dad always complains about the meals. He is not losing any weight, so he eats the meals, but it is not to his satisfaction. Nothing is like being at home, but he eats the meals. They do make sure they give him things that he will eat. And I find that the people that come into the room, they ask him what he needs. They don't blow him off. He doesn't want to be there, so he's not especially social, but he does go out to bingo. They bring him out. For patients who don't want to be outside of their room, to just bring them out, that's good for my dad, he needs to be just brought out. He doesn't eat food in the dining area, he stays in his room, but to have activity like that, it is good for him, so I appreciate that. My dad's room is OK. I don't feel that it's cleaned like daily. They may empty the trash, but often times there are crumbs or food on the floor or under the bed. They could do a better job with that for his room here. However, the facility is always clean, and there's not a smell to it."

"My mother-in-law was in ManorCare Health Services. It's a nursing home, a beautiful place, and very well-maintained. They're very, very good with family requests, especially during COVID. It's a five-star place. It's very well organized, the staff members are very friendly and accommodating. The menu was good but I have never tried the food. If my mother-in-law ate it, it was good because she was very picky. They had activities, but because it was COVID they had a kind of separation. They did crafts with them. They do a lot for the seniors. They plan activities, they have a spa for them, and people that do manicures. They do all kinds of stuff at movie night. They try to interact a lot with the seniors that are in there."

"My dad was a resident at Royal Oak for almost 3 months. I have had experiences with other nursing homes in the past but this one by far was the best. The therapy staff was amazing and had my dad walking and back to his old self. The nursing staff was great and really made us all feel like family. I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone looking for great care in a beautiful facility. "

"They had a dining area and a fireplace, and they were doing some renovations. It was a slightly larger place with 10 or 15 tables set up. They had an area where they did activities, but nothing was going on when we were there. We did look at the apartments. They had the regular activities that all of the places seem to have -- religious services, bingo, and different kinds of games. We were looking specifically for a senior living or assisted living and at North Park. If you're loved one's health declined, they had to be moved to a nursing home. It wasn't all in one, and that was one thing that concerned us. The lady that showed us around was really good. She was prepared for our visit. She showed us everything that we asked and answered all the questions that we had. "

"Terrible. After having my family member in their care for a week, they actually didn't know why he was there despite the hospital providing ask the standard discharge paperwork and physicians notes, despite a family member visiting to speak to staff, and despite a phone call from another family member. They gave the patient the wrong information about the medical condition that landed him in rehab, saying it was temporary (it's permanent), and they argued with a family member about a separate diagnosis of a degenerative disease which he's been in treatment for for several years, saying they didn't think he had that diagnosis. Wow! They've spoken to a family member and the patient about his being there long term while the doctor's orders are for a short stay. They have confused other basic information as well. They've argued with a family member about how POA works, saying their doctor would have to give permission for the designated family to invoke it, which is not true. The hospital the patient was discharged from was unhappy to beat about this mess. That The patient and family can't wait to get the patient the heck out of there. The floor staff have been friendly and seem to be doing their best. It's the manager level professionals who've left my family shocked. The ineptitude, blaming, and excuses have been unacceptable. The patient has also complained about their confusion and lack of information. "

"I was at this facility for a short term rehab stay after my knee replacement. I have nothing to say but thank you, thank you, thank you. I was able to return home within 2 weeks. I can walk again, the nurses and assistants were caring and accomodating, and therapy- all though they pushed me- I was able to return home quicker. Although,my laundry was a little slow to return to my room, I did get it back- the administrative staff were open to listening if I had a problem and they were quick to resolve any problem I may have had, and if I ever need a short term stay again- I won't choose any other place. "Excellent new Director and Head Nurse and Assistant Nurse. They have made some excellent changes. The care for my mother and understanding has been excellent. I would recommend this facility. As long as you take time to care for your loved ones and understand their needs, the nurses can do the same. You must be involved too. They are all thoughtful, kind and compassionate. Every thought is given to maintaining choice in all aspects of care and in promoting self worth. The relationships with the family and all other people involved in day to day life have been great. Thank you Pavilion employees. You are doing great in giving Pavilion a better name because of better care and better employees."
