"The man who toured me at The Normandy was very nice, but not familiar with everything. The facility is very nice, but I cannot afford it. I saw an apartment, and it has a living room and one large bedroom with a beautiful bathroom. I saw some ladies knitting. They have restaurant style dining, and they don’t accommodate special dietary needs. I like that it’s near the lake, and they offer transportation. "

"My mother recently passed away just shy of 98. The staff was heartbroken. We couldn’t have asked for better care, a more caring staff, and kinder fellow residents. Our only regret is that we didn’t move her there sooner. "

"We toured it and chose it for my parents. The staff who accommodated us was wonderful. The room was a 1-bedroom apartment, but they had other options. They had several group activities going on, and the facilities were nice, both dining rooms and common rooms. They had buses to appointments and tours."

"I'm a resident here, and it's very good. It has 72 residents, so it's not huge, and everyone knows everybody. They have bingo, movies, bowling, pool, and go to the casino, shopping, and restaurants. They have prayer service, Scrabble, board games, coffee hour, and monthly meetings with the residents to try to improve their activities. They have medical staff, who are pretty good and do their best to take care of our needs."

"The rooms vary in size and you have a choice to find one that fits your needs and monetary funds. Each day the menu changes for specials for breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, they offer a variety of foods that remain the same daily. The staff is wonderful. I want to "shout out" to a few staff members. Cindy who is at the front desk ready to greet family and residents with a smile and help whenever/wherever she can. Jackie who is in housekeeping who always has a greeting and kind words for residents and family. She is ready to assist with any residential needs. Colin in maintenance continues to help get the residents established in their apartments so everything is operating. He is willing to stop in to check on anything that may need "tweaking" to help the residents. NOW, I know I have mentioned a few staff members, but everyone at Danbury Senior Living in Brunswick, Ohio is friendly, helpful and caring. The nursing staff is remarkable. They care so much about the residents and their needs."

"I toured Brookdale Westlake Village. Shannon was very friendly and accommodating. She went out of her way to support my aunt and me before and after the search process, even after the search process had concluded. It's a tight-knit community there. All of the people were very friendly and welcoming. The thing that my aunt specifically didn't like about Brookdale was that it was a big facility. I was looking for something more intimate. The facility was great itself. The rooms were nice. All the rooms are about 350 to 400 square feet. The other thing I liked about Brookdale is that they have rehabilitation facilities. They have different levels of care available within the same campus. I thought that was awesome. I liked the location. It was a centralized location. The facilities were clean. They all had great facilities and programs that the residents participated in. So, there is nothing bad to say about the facility. I had a good experience."

"We checked Vitalia Active Adult Community North Olmsted. It's way too far out and way too much traffic; but otherwise, it was absolutely gorgeous. They have wonderful staff, wonderful facility, and beautiful apartments. It would have been a perfect place for my parents if it was not too far out. They have another assister building not too far away that is a skilled nursing home, but it's not on the same site. We would have physically had to move my parents about 10 miles for the next step down. They are connected to each other literally through a walkway. They actually have not officially opened their assisted living yet. There are only two people living in that facility right now because they were waiting for their license to get there. Then they have seven others to move in there, and then they have lots of rooms available. We did get to tour it, but they weren't going to be ready for more people to move into like the beginning of September. As far as their full meals, the kitchen was not up yet. The residents that were living there were in the assisted living side. It's a brand new building, and they have just finished building it. They had two people on that side working full time: a nurse and a nurse's assistant. They had an activities person over there working right now. We met everybody that was there at the time, and they were fantastic. The distance is the problem; it is way too far, and it is really in the middle of nowhere. It literally is on the North Olmstead-Westlake border. The problem is it's in the middle of a MetroPark, and there's really nothing that they could walk to to do anything. There's a very busy road that runs right past it."

"I'm currently in Rose Senior Living - Beachwood. It's pretty nice, but it's just too expensive for me. The people seem to be nice. The apartments that they have for independent living are very nice. My interaction with the staff is satisfactory. The apartment that I'm in has a full kitchen, a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. I have a little laundry room with a washer and dryer. They have nice amenities here. I have nothing bad to say about this place. They have a movie theater, and they have religious stuff. They have a lot of things, but I don't use them. I don't mind being by myself. Most of the food is satisfactory."

"My father has been a resident at Summit point for six years and he has experienced a higher quality of life than any alternative I can think of under his circumstances. Relationships and interactions with the staff and administration have had a family like quality; yet our needs and concerns have been addressed in a professional and effective manner (actually better than family could). The personal touch always came through and we where made to feel as if our concerns were their concerns. I cannot say enough about how pleased and grateful I am for the blessings of our experience; I thank my Father in Heaven for you and I thank you Summit Point family! Healthcare and financial needs require us to move on but hopefully medicaid will someday make it easier to provide financial help to those who may need it at Summit Point. I can't thank you enough so I thank you again! "

"Right now my dad is at Solon Pointe because that is where they can accept Medicaid waiver for him because he is not able to self-pay. He is up on the second floor in the memory care and they want to see if they can try to transition him to the downstairs area and eventually get him over to his own studio in the assisted living. He has been there since April 3rd and he is not happy because he says the place is too clinical. The facility needs a little updating, but I am sure the Alzheimer’s patients don’t really care. The nursing staff is very good and treating him well. The two nurses who we talked to said that they wouldn’t mind having him back. If a family member couldn’t ride with him to appointments, that they will transport him there with someone and bring him back. Their assisted living side looks good and they’ve have a lot of activities going on. Their dining room and little library area look nice, and their assisted living side looks really nice."

"The Rooms are very nice and clean. Cleaning staff does a good job for my father. The nurse are friendly and most of the STNA's say Hello when seeing you in the hallways. The meals are sometimes good and great. One of the current "chefs" make too many sandwiches and the chili several times were too hot for most of the residents to eat. Breakfast has gotten better most days. It used to be cold, and the homemade pancakes were not homemade. There is one person that covers when the "Chef" is out on her days off. This person makes homemade meals, and it is very appreciated. The activities are good, and the outings are a big hit for my father."

"We visited Rose Senior Living - Avon. It was a good tour, and it's a nice facility. We were able to go through pretty much everything there and see apartments and stuff like that. We went to a couple of places, like the dining hall and cafes, some meeting rooms, that sort of stuff. The place is very clean. The staff were very friendly. The rooms were modern but small. The facilities were nice. They had a lot of nice rooms. It was a very comfortable feeling. Seems like they have a lot of activities, it has very much a community feel to it. They have a much more of an apartment feel than a nursing home."

"Vitalia Senior Residences of Solon was very large, but I did like it. The facility was very clean. The staff was just very helpful and answered all my questions. The amenities were very good. They have a gym, a salon, a recreation room, and a party room."
