"I live in California and helped my parents move to StoryPoint Medina, Ohio, in November 2020, during the height of the pandemic. It's a huge relief knowing they are living in their beautiful new condo fairly independently and with everything they need but with back-up when necessary. From Day One, StoryPoint made every effort to get them settled and make them feel at home. Enrichment activities occur daily and any isolation due to COVID is offset by safe staff visits for mini "celebrations" (e.g. cocktails or ice cream sundaes from a cart), holiday craft-making, live piano showtunes, and exercise/yoga classes, among other activities. My parents have bonded with their "family" of staff members and love the perks of being driven to doctor appts. or the store while maintaining their own car on site as needed. The facility's decor is tasteful and feels like an upscale condo that anyone of any age would be thrilled to live in. Everything is spic and span and my parents love their housekeeping services. They are also gourmet "foodies" and have been bowled over by the meals. I was fortunate to be there to sample several items and was truly impressed by the number of choices offered and the quality, freshness, and appeal of every meal. Now my 82 year-old Mom doesn’t have to make dinner every night for herself and Dad. The executive director checks in regularly with them, and all staff members go out of their way to do whatever is necessary to make their residents happy and regularly ask for feedback so they can nip anything in the bud. My parents love having some autonomy but feel more confident and less anxious knowing help is nearby if they need it. From across the country, I can rest easier knowing they are in good hands. Honestly, my parents have gotten quite spoiled in their new home!"

"We toured Vitalia Senior Residences at Montrose. It's gorgeous. It's very high-end. The staff seems wonderful. We did eat food there. Their food was excellent and it's like a menu. They have regular China, silverware, cloth napkins, and menus so you can get anything that you want. You can get breakfast at any time of the day. I mean, you can get breakfast at 6:00 at night, just makes a difference. My mother got a sandwich and I had gotten a different sandwich. The only thing that would concern us is the fact that my mother is handicapped. She's on a scooter. For her to get into bed, she needs handrails to help get her into bed. So the only problem is the fact that we looked and they don't have any, like at home, she has a hospital bed. The price was expensive, but it was beautiful."

"The assisted living facility that I found for my client is called Mount Alverna Village. It is run by the Franciscan Sisters from Chicago. My client is a former Franciscan priest. The place is very relaxed and comfortable. I think the staff is very helpful and very interested in trying to do whatever they can do to make my client’s stay there as pleasant as possible. He seems to be thriving there. The room is physically adequate. The dining area is not terribly large, but it doesn’t need to be. It is sufficient for those that would be in the room at any one time. They have various activities, too. "

"Danbury always felt like a home to us. Friendly staff, clean and spacious apartments, nurses that care and alerted us when things just didn’t look right with our father. We were at ease knowing he was safe and well cared for. After living in the Danbury independent villas, which are wonderful, we made the decision to move our father to the assisted living building. Danbury made the move an easy transition for our father and we were glad Danbury’s care was always consistent and thoughtful."

"The employees are wonderful, very helpful & always pleasant when you’re interacting with them. The residents are also very nice. I’m very happy here. "

"My sister has been in Brookdale Montrose for a week now. I am very pleased with it. Of all the ones we visited, it was our first choice. The staff was very caring, very knowledgeable, and very helpful as we transitioned. The community is very nice looking. They take good care of it. The residents seem very happy there. What really sold us is, as we were touring, people would just come up unsolicited and just tell us that they hope we moved in, that we would love it there, and that they've been there three months, six months, or two years or whatever, and that they loved it there a lot. The residents seemed to really like it there, which helped sell us on the idea that it would be a good place for my sister to be. I have tried their food, and it's okay. They're very concerned about us liking it, so they came and asked us for positive and/or negative feedback. I think they're always trying to improve. They also have a lot of activities to choose from. The independent living cost structure is in line and is even a little bit less than some other places we looked at. They seem to provide a few extra services for that base price that other places didn't offer. So, I think that's a very good value. Everyone we interacted with was wonderful, as well. So far, we're really happy, and we hope the trend continues."

"I like the openness at Holiday Copley Place. The cost is affordable. They're very friendly and very welcoming. I didn't see any kind of dirt or anything anywhere. All utilities are included in the cost. They provide three meals a day. They have bingo, cards, and board games wherever they can get together and play. They make sure that somebody sees you at least once a day. So if you don't go out of your room, they'll come and check on you."

"My parents have been residents in the independent living at the Rockside community for 7 months. Is it perfect? No. But they are attentive to concerns and make an effort to rectify any problems. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are a fair number of activities. They try to have events for special days. My parents frequently talk about the beautiful valentines day dinner and the eclipse party. There was a women’s tea for Christmas that my mom thoroughly enjoyed. My mom moved from their home reluctantly. Yesterday she told me she doesn’t miss her house anymore and that she loves her new home at Vitalia. That speaks volumes!"

"The nursing home of Brookdale Westlake Village was excellent. The staff was very good, and the rooms were very clean and well maintained. They had a lot of activities. I highly recommend them. The place was big, and the layout was in sections. It was continuing care, so they had three different buildings all connected together. The skilled nursing's dining room was pretty basic, the assisted living's dining room was bigger, and independent living's dining was even bigger. They had a church there, which my mom liked. It was a very good place. "

"We chose it because they have a little more as far as nursing care. My mom is on an Alzheimer's ward and she gets a little more attention. Plus, it is just actually beautiful and the people are very nice. It is a really, really caring place. On my mom's floor, they have two dogs that live up there, and I think that's a nice touch. They also have a family room and a TV room with a kitchen next to it, so people can actually be looked after during the day -- it ihas a very homey feeling. The staff is just very caring and very open to suggestions and willing to do pretty much anything we want them to do. As for activities, they will have people come in and do music shows and magic shows. They have their own activities as well, where they have craft and movie time. My mom is always doing something. The food is five stars. Everything is made fresh. Some places will say, "We got a choice of this and this..." Well at Brighton Gardens, they actually put the food on the plate and they bring it around to the tables and say, "Which one do you want?" Isn't that neat? It is nice. You can read the menu, but it is different to see it on the plate. Overall, what I like best about this place is the atmosphere. People seem to be happy to be working there. I also like the respect and care that they give my mom. "

"My mother stayed at Vitalia Senior Residences at Westlake for three days and then she fell and broke her hip. We chose this community because it had good food and it was a very nice facility. It was clean and brand new. We also saw that it got decent reviews, so we were confident that she would get good care there based on the reviews and based on our interaction with the staff. We met ahead of time with the staff. We moved in on a weekend, so there weren't a lot of staff there, but they made it very easy, giving us access with the movers, and moving in was pretty seamless. The staff seemed very nice and attentive. I think they were responsive to my mother and her requests and to me. On the weekends they were a little understaffed, but I think everywhere is understaffed, especially on the weekends. Another reason we chose them was because my mom liked the activities that they had. They had intergenerational activities, cultural activities, and a travel series. It was beyond what we saw at some of the other facilities that we interviewed with. They had a pool, and it seemed like they had a pretty strong physical therapy program."

"I'm a resident here, and it's very good. It has 72 residents, so it's not huge, and everyone knows everybody. They have bingo, movies, bowling, pool, and go to the casino, shopping, and restaurants. They have prayer service, Scrabble, board games, coffee hour, and monthly meetings with the residents to try to improve their activities. They have medical staff, who are pretty good and do their best to take care of our needs."

"The Normandy was lovely. It was a very nice facility. I've been there twice, and everyone had been very friendly. The rooms were beautiful. When we went there, they had lovely cookies. They had a chef, so those looked quite good. I absolutely recommend this community to others. "

"I will be moving into Rose Senior Living - Avon. I liked that it was active and there was a lot going on. The staff was friendly and outgoing. I didn't taste the food, but I saw it. They were laying it out, putting it out for the residents to see the main dishes for dinner so they could see what they were going to have. They were getting ready to prepare to serve. The place was extremely clean."
