"I live in California and helped my parents move to StoryPoint Medina, Ohio, in November 2020, during the height of the pandemic. It's a huge relief knowing they are living in their beautiful new condo fairly independently and with everything they need but with back-up when necessary. From Day One, StoryPoint made every effort to get them settled and make them feel at home. Enrichment activities occur daily and any isolation due to COVID is offset by safe staff visits for mini "celebrations" (e.g. cocktails or ice cream sundaes from a cart), holiday craft-making, live piano showtunes, and exercise/yoga classes, among other activities. My parents have bonded with their "family" of staff members and love the perks of being driven to doctor appts. or the store while maintaining their own car on site as needed. The facility's decor is tasteful and feels like an upscale condo that anyone of any age would be thrilled to live in. Everything is spic and span and my parents love their housekeeping services. They are also gourmet "foodies" and have been bowled over by the meals. I was fortunate to be there to sample several items and was truly impressed by the number of choices offered and the quality, freshness, and appeal of every meal. Now my 82 year-old Mom doesn’t have to make dinner every night for herself and Dad. The executive director checks in regularly with them, and all staff members go out of their way to do whatever is necessary to make their residents happy and regularly ask for feedback so they can nip anything in the bud. My parents love having some autonomy but feel more confident and less anxious knowing help is nearby if they need it. From across the country, I can rest easier knowing they are in good hands. Honestly, my parents have gotten quite spoiled in their new home!"

"The assisted living facility that I found for my client is called Mount Alverna Village. It is run by the Franciscan Sisters from Chicago. My client is a former Franciscan priest. The place is very relaxed and comfortable. I think the staff is very helpful and very interested in trying to do whatever they can do to make my client’s stay there as pleasant as possible. He seems to be thriving there. The room is physically adequate. The dining area is not terribly large, but it doesn’t need to be. It is sufficient for those that would be in the room at any one time. They have various activities, too. "

"I toured Danbury North Ridgeville. Everybody was very friendly and welcoming. The facility was clean. They also had a lot of great programs and amenities for the patients. I was there around chow time, so I got to smell the food. I didn't have anything to eat there. I liked the facility a lot, but did not like the location. It was close to a highway, and that turned me off. Their courtyard was pretty open, and it was pretty windy back there. It was a nice courtyard, but I didn't like that it was next to the highway. Lisa and the team did a fantastic job showing around. They knew the answers to the questions I asked. They provided me with information about things that I didn't think to ask. All of the rooms come unfurnished, which is typical, but they were willing to work with us on the types of furniture that can go in there. They did not have in-suite showers in the room."

"The employees are wonderful, very helpful & always pleasant when you’re interacting with them. The residents are also very nice. I’m very happy here. "

"Brookdale Montrose has some of the largest apartment styles for Independent Living that I have seen. The two-bedroom we saw was beautiful, smelled great and was about 900 square feet! The best part is that their Assisted Living floor plans are identical and have full kitchens. The vibe we got when we entered the building was most unique. I did not expect to see to many active and happy faces. We visited on a Wednesday and there were tons of people in the common area where there was a popcorn cart and a bookmobile set up. Their activities director was so sweet and went through all the different programs my Mom might enjoy. I am very impressed with Brookdale. They know what they are doing. "

"I toured Holiday Copley Place, and that facility was nice. However, I didn't care for the food either in terms of taste or texture. It just didn't sit well with me. The facility was very clean and modern, and there was ample space for residents to move around and do activities."

"My parents have been residents in the independent living at the Rockside community for 7 months. Is it perfect? No. But they are attentive to concerns and make an effort to rectify any problems. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are a fair number of activities. They try to have events for special days. My parents frequently talk about the beautiful valentines day dinner and the eclipse party. There was a women’s tea for Christmas that my mom thoroughly enjoyed. My mom moved from their home reluctantly. Yesterday she told me she doesn’t miss her house anymore and that she loves her new home at Vitalia. That speaks volumes!"

"The nursing home of Brookdale Westlake Village was excellent. The staff was very good, and the rooms were very clean and well maintained. They had a lot of activities. I highly recommend them. The place was big, and the layout was in sections. It was continuing care, so they had three different buildings all connected together. The skilled nursing's dining room was pretty basic, the assisted living's dining room was bigger, and independent living's dining was even bigger. They had a church there, which my mom liked. It was a very good place. "

"Both my wife and I like it. The staff was very accommodating. They answered every question we had. We did see rooms that day and I thought they have a nice variety of different rooms, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms, and suites. They did have a lot of different things. I would absolutely recommend that people visit this place. "

"My mother stayed at Vitalia Senior Residences at Westlake for three days and then she fell and broke her hip. We chose this community because it had good food and it was a very nice facility. It was clean and brand new. We also saw that it got decent reviews, so we were confident that she would get good care there based on the reviews and based on our interaction with the staff. We met ahead of time with the staff. We moved in on a weekend, so there weren't a lot of staff there, but they made it very easy, giving us access with the movers, and moving in was pretty seamless. The staff seemed very nice and attentive. I think they were responsive to my mother and her requests and to me. On the weekends they were a little understaffed, but I think everywhere is understaffed, especially on the weekends. Another reason we chose them was because my mom liked the activities that they had. They had intergenerational activities, cultural activities, and a travel series. It was beyond what we saw at some of the other facilities that we interviewed with. They had a pool, and it seemed like they had a pretty strong physical therapy program."

"I'm a resident here, and it's very good. It has 72 residents, so it's not huge, and everyone knows everybody. They have bingo, movies, bowling, pool, and go to the casino, shopping, and restaurants. They have prayer service, Scrabble, board games, coffee hour, and monthly meetings with the residents to try to improve their activities. They have medical staff, who are pretty good and do their best to take care of our needs."

"The Normandy was lovely. It was a very nice facility. I've been there twice, and everyone had been very friendly. The rooms were beautiful. When we went there, they had lovely cookies. They had a chef, so those looked quite good. I absolutely recommend this community to others. "

"My mother has been a resident at Danbury in Hudson for 4 months now since needing more care and assistance with medications. She was previously in Springwood, the sister facility for independent living. The transition to Danbury was easy and well-managed by the staff and administration. The staff (nurses, care-givers, dining, maintenance, and front desk/office) have been simply OUTSTANDING. I really can't say enough about how friendly and kind every single person has been to my mom. My sister and I rest much easier knowing she's getting the care and attention she needs. The activities are frequent and varied. In hindsight for my mom wishes she had moved to Danbury sooner. My sister and I advocated for it but mom was too happy with her apartment and friends at Springwood. If she had moved a bit sooner, she would have had an easier time getting into all the activities and options available. The other residents are all friendly and welcoming. The facilities are quite lovely. The common spaces allow for plenty of space to visit with friends and family. The rooms vary in size and most tend to be on the smaller side. That worried mom at first, but her studio apartment is set up quite nicely for her needs and she's quite happy with it. I think the food is above average for an assisted living facility. I like it. The combination of the dining room plus a mix of happy hours, mixers, ice cream Sunday bars, etc. provide good variety. I'll repeat the most important part, the staff, especially the nurses, care-givers and dining staff, are so welcoming, kind, and helpful. It's truly impressive to see, and I'm very thankful."
