"My mom is at Wooster Danbury. I think the community provided a lot of amenities, which was one of the reasons that we initially thought that it would be a good placement for my mom. The fact that they have planned activities and places to go within the facility was really nice. They have a theater, media room, an exercise room, a community room -- which also provides services on Sunday -- a salon, a couple different dining rooms, a bistro, evening events, and bingo. If the residents are unable to get to a certain activity, they will make sure that someone will come and take them to that activity. My mom gained four pounds. She likes the food. They have two different dining areas. If your mom is talkative or prefers a quieter table, they take that into account when deciding where it might be nice to be able to eat most of the time. They take an interest in the person. They have at least two outside areas where they can go, like a courtyard. They also have different porch areas. There's a place to sit there as well. They also do outside trips. They have the ability to also leave the facility and do things in the community. The facility is very clean. They also have fish and birds. They have programs like the therapy dog. They did a good job of trying to create a homelike environment. They put a calendar out every month. They also provide a daily newspaper called The Daily Chronicle about things that are happening, or about individuals that are there."
