Our experience with Joshua Tree is very good. It is very clean, very friendly, and home-like. The staff is very good. They do medications, but they are not skilled nurses nor do they have 24-hour care. My husband has care in the morning and in the evening. He is in a two-room apartment with a refrigerator and a microwave. They have a lot of amenities and activities, like trips and games. They keep them busy.

We thought Joshua Tree was very nice. We were looking for respite care because we had a vacation planned before my uncle came to live with us, and I needed somewhere while we went on vacation. So we went up there, and the facility was wonderful. It was close to my home and other relatives who could easily visit. However, it was a smaller facility, and they wouldn’t be able to tell me until about a week before we left whether or not they'd have room for him. I had a tour with the admissions counselor, and she was very nice and answered all of my questions. Their assisted living is brand new. It is quite elegant and very beautiful. The skilled care is their original older building, but they have done a wonderful job of their renovations to it.

This place is overrated. My Dad pooped in his pants twice in one week because he received no help to go to the toilet. Alas! All his aides were outside smoking. There's no excuse for that. While some of the staff are pleasant and on the ball--some are rude and intolerant of old people. One of my Dad's aides appears to have some mental problems, throwing his bed linens on the floor because he had no snacks to give her. Unbelievable! Thank God, we have found a more suitable facility for Dad.

We like Joshua Tree Care Center for the location and its very good service. The one downside is they don't have any type of courtyard that's secure for people to sit in but other than that, we're very happy with it. The rooms are on the small side but nice. My loved ones are in a one-bedroom that's fine and fits their needs. The dining room is nice. They're in the assisted living part.

I chose Olmsted Manor for my mother because they took Medicaid insurance. My mother shares a room with another person. There are two people in a room. They have a pretty wide menu. It looks good to me and there's something different every day. She's been there for a week now. There's always somebody there when she needs something. They have nurses or aids if nurses are not around. They also have a beauty shop, a dining area 24 hours a day if they are hungry. They have a lot of activities like singing. Something's going on all day every day. Family members can be there and take them out. They seem to meet her needs like checking her blood sugar and doing things they need to do.
