Nursing Home Communities in Upland, CA

"This is a small skilled nursing facility tucked into a residential neighborhood. The grounds are quaint, but there's not much parking. The rooms were clean and are semi-private. I didn't see too many patients out in the hallways and the ones I saw looked clean; I didn't detect any odors. The menu included typical hospital fare and I don't think the food is made from scratch. The lobby was recently remodeled as were the grounds so that patients can use them for rehab. The staff I encountered were friendly. "

"I was able to speak with a speech therapist who was working at this facility and told me that Plott facilities place a big emphasis on activities for rehab. I did see a lot of patients gathered in the activity room and dining room. The facility itself is an older building and could use a facelift; the vinyl floor tiles were cracked. While the rooms appeared clean, I was able to detect a slight odor. The patients looked clean and seemed content as they gathered around one of the TV rooms. I liked that the building has lots of commercial windows to let light in and a receptionist desk at the entrance. "

"I love this facility, ALL the staff is so loving and caring, it is a small facility so they are able to provide excellent one on one help. It is very clean also. I'm so glad my mom is there. "

"My mother is now in Country Villa Claremont Health. The place is nice and the staff there is very good. She tells them if she needs to be fed and they feed her, if she needs to be changed then they change her, and while I'm here everything is fine. My mom wouldn't eat food for a long time, but in this place, they cook homemade food or meals from scratch and she likes it. She's really happy and healthy here. They have speech therapy, physical therapy, OT, they have events, candle-lit dinners, and a lot of good things for the residents. They also have carnivals for the children. It's a very large community, it's clean, and the grass is cut, so it's nice. They have a little patio that the people can use, and we can have parties here."

"Pilgrim Place residents bond over a common mission of peace, justice, and care for the earth, and live out this commitment in a variety of ways, both individually and communally. Many residents have had careers in helping professions such as teaching, non-profits, and ministry. This caring spirit continues through active engagement in planning educational and social events, and serving on governance committees that benefit the overall life of the community. In addition to making wonderful friends, I love using the Pilgrim Place Aquatic Fitness Center, having studio space at Pendleton Arts Center, and borrowing books from the Library. Sitting at lunch with a different group of people each day means that I get to know everyone in the community. Most of all, I'm grateful that I entered the community in my 60's so that I can enjoy all the opportunities at the nearby Claremont Colleges and the downtown Claremont Village, in addition to everything at Pilgrim Place."

"We’ve often heard how good the care is at Claremont Manor but they were always full. This past summer, when our mother again needed assistance, Claremont Manor had an opening and we jumped at the opportunity. Everything we had heard about Claremont Manor was true. It’s a very safe and welcoming environment. The management, staff and care team are accommodating, attentive, friendly, and helpful. The communication was informative and very thorough. The physical therapy team was helpful and patient. We are so thankful to have chosen Claremont Manor."

"My husband was at Pilgrim Place Health Services Center. It had occupational therapy and physical therapy. They had activities there. It's really a good skilled nursing facility. They have a huge assisted living facility there for seniors. It took a while to get his medicine figured out. He has Parkinson's, so it's very specific, like he has to have his medicine six times a day, and the medicine people are just used to three times a day, so it kind of threw them off. Sometimes, he didn't get his medicine on time. That was probably the biggest complaint, but everything else was good. The food was good. He loved his physical therapy. He liked the activities. It's clean. It feels like a home, even though it's skilled nursing. It's nicely designed with artwork, and the staff is great. The nurses are great. It's a great place. They had art, movies, singing, and exercise. They had a lot of activities. They have a courtyard. When you first walk into Pilgrim Place, there's a huge patio to sit outside. They have a nice room for family, like a big dining room for people to come visit. They have another room for church. Medicare paid for it."

"I was at Rancho Mesa Care Center. The physical therapy was good. I got a lot stronger and better. The food was not very good because I'm so picky. They kept giving me the kind of things that I don't like. Even though I told them over and over, they'd still give me what I didn't like. I was trying to get my appetite back, and so that wasn't helpful. The CNAs were very great. They worked very hard. They tried to get me a wheelchair, but my insurance wouldn't cover it. I was in one room with three other people, and they all spoke Spanish all the time. They were really loud and noisy. Then I was moved to another room, where it was just one other person. It was nice, quiet, and peaceful. I like that. They have rooms where it's two or three or four in a room. Because of COVID, we had to stay in our room. The activity would be coloring, or they let us go outside sometimes. That was nice because then you get exposed to the nice trees, birds, and the mountains."

"We looked at a two-bedroom-two-bath cottage at Mount San Antonio Gardens. You can cook, and you can do whatever you want there. It's in an architecturally distinctive community. It's immediately adjacent to the city of Claremont, and the other place we visited is adjacent to the city of Laverne, but both of them, being from the same time period, are not nearly as congested as the San Fernando Valley or the San Gabriel Valley. The person we worked with had almost as many years' experience as the lady at the other place, except that she was about 20 years younger in age. She is working with seniors, and she has tried to do what she could, but I was more impressed with the overall staff at the other place. Mount San Antonio Gardens is a full-service retirement community inclusive of anything and everything that you could hope for. It is also a fully secure facility. I met and dined with the staff members and the residents who have been there for 10 years, and also those who have been there for a year."

"I am so glad I didn’t pay attention to the negative reviews. My mom fell, hit her head, and ended up with a brain bleed. After spending 20 days in a hospital, we were transferred to Ontario Health Care Center. We arrived late at night, and the staff was ready for us. They took amazing care of my mom right away, got her comfortable in bed, and reassured us that she was in good hands. The next day, the entire administration team came and introduced themselves to me. They clearly laid out the care plan for my mom for the next few weeks. Everything was very well organized, and you can definitely tell that they care deeply and take pride in their facility. While my mom was in the hospital for 20 days, she only received physical therapy twice and spent most of her time in bed. Here at Ontario Health Care Center, within just three days, she had physical therapy three times. They came, got her out of bed, took her to the physical therapy room, and exercised with her. She was even able to take a couple of steps! The alves family"

"This place was highly recommended by my Doctor. I agree with him 100%, the staff is caring and attentive, place is clean and smells good. I have recuperated fully from my knee surgery and I owe it to the great therapy staff. There encouragement and words of wisdom made my therapy sessions reachable. I will miss the many smiles and laughs I enjoyed with all of them. I will definitely be back after my next surgery. Thank you to All!"

"I'm in the process of getting my mom into Inland Christian Home, Inc. I liked that it was very clean. It was very nice that they recently remodeled, so everything was nice. I liked that it's a one-story building. Their pricing was pretty competitive overall, in comparison to other facilities. I also liked the fact that they were a little bit more flexible and accommodating as far as visiting time. Their medication management was included at no extra cost. It was part of their care package. You would pay for the room but you also would have to pay for the level of care. So, I didn't feel like they would nickel and dime you, like extra for this, extra for that. There's not going to be a surprise. I also liked the fact that they are Christian-based and they're a nonprofit. So, they care about their patients and encourage them. I saw their menu and it looked pretty good and pretty healthy."

"I am currently a patient. Staff attentive and nice. Show concern and care. Hospital like but again attentive with midnight shift a little iffy. Don't talk or eat their food but we do well in communication."
