"My significant other is actually in Windsor Terrace of Westlake Village right now. He needed nursing care because he has dementia and cannot remember what to take, and if he doesn’t have that nursing care, he ends up in the hospital. The service is not excellent but good. He does not have any problem; he gets his meds and his food, and that keeps him very stable. The staff is good. He’s got a number of illnesses, so he must have his meds, and they seem to be controlling everything. "

"My father-in-law stayed in the acute rehab unit of Los Robles, and it was very good. The physicians, nurses, assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and all other staff members were very good. He was by himself. His room was very good; it was quite spacious and comfortable. Because he had a lot of dietary restrictions, meals were made to fit his dietary needs, and that was very good. They had some group activities, but my father-in-law was not up to participating in anything. "

"My husband is currently in Vista Cove Care Center at Santa Paula. They're very guarded because of COVID. They're like a hospital and you can't go in there without a mask. They won't even let you go in to visit unless there's an appointment. I appreciate what they're doing, but it is frustrating for me because I want to go see him and I have to make an appointment. I know it takes so long, but I understand why they have to do that so it's OK. I asked if someone could call me and let me know how he's doing, and the lady in charge of the physical therapy department called. She was very nice. It looks very nice; it has nice chairs outside where you can sit in the shade and have umbrella-covered tables. And in the back, they have sort of a tent so you don't have to be in the sun. So they bring him out and we can sit outside and talk to him. His insurance is paying for it. I'm satisfied. He's safe and in good condition and he seems happy when I see him. He's not crabby or angry or anything, so I'm assuming he's content."

"I did visit Fillmore Convalescent Center for my daughter and the staff was very friendly. The facility looked very nice. Their rooms have two beds in it and it was well spaced apart and that was very nice. It looked like they offer a very nice accommodation. Their dining is very nice as well. They also had a snack bar where they could buy everything. With their activities, they have stuff like bingo and bowling. "

"The staff’s attitude was excellent at St. John’s Rehab. The room was like a 1-bedroom hotel room and had a couch in it, television, and it was private. They have a dining room in rehab, but nobody uses it. It was the size of about 3 kitchens with three or four tables in it and a television, and they use it for a lot of functions. They have various kinds of activities once a week, they had a recreational activities, field trips, and people came in with flower arranging. We had recreational therapy as well and crafts. "

"My loved one stayed at Glenwood Care Center. Everybody seemed very qualified and attentive. I had no problems. She had rehabilitation, occupational, and physical therapy. It was a good experience. They had a lot of nice outside areas which were very pretty and shaded. The food was marginal; the same as most places. The people were exceptionally nice. They have a hair stylist and movies. The staff was very thorough and professional, but on weekends, they weren't as well-staffed."

"This is a 2 star facility, but after visiting dozens of times, I don't see how it is not a 1 star facility. Many of the nurses and cna's are indifferent and un-empathetic to patients. My family member regularly had to wait 1+ hrs after requesting pain medication (even though he was scheduled to receive it earlier). Call bells constantly ringing while employees hang out at the nurses station. If I dare questioned anything, more often than not I was addressed in a rude manner. I spoke with many patients during my visits to Oxnard Manor. It also seems as though they somehow bring patients to believe they have no choice in when they go home. I spoke with numerous residents that would say they are "stuck here" and want to go home but are threatened that if they leave before the facility agrees, they'd be documented as leaving "AMA" (against medical advice) which can lead Medicare to denying certain services after you leave. This facility also has a large number of homeless patients and patients with mental diagnoses, who need a lot if help from the social worker, but instead are given the run around and kept in the facility for as long as possible. On a positive note, the therapy was good, and the therapists who worked with my father were caring and understanding and worked with my father to get him stronger and walking better so that we could bring him home. Despite therapy saying he could go home and continue therapy at home, it was like pulling teeth to get his discharge expedited with nursing. I would not return to this facility unless it was my only option. "

"My mom moved to Shoreline Care Center. The staff is great. They do their best, however, they are understaffed tremendously. The facility is great. They are remodeling, and repainting, and they're trying to upgrade. They have music. They do coloring. They paint nails. While I've been there those are the activities they have. I know they have others, and they have different times of day. The food is good."

"We chose Simi Valley Care Center because my wife thought it was one of the best. The place is very clean. The staff is helpful and gives very warm care. They have a lot of activities for their residents. They have a skilled nursing facility onsite where they work with people out of surgery, people in wheelchairs or people that needed more attention and care. They had a big Thanksgiving dinner for guests and residents; it was excellent, very surprising and the food was very good. "

"Mom was in the Victoria Care Center. She was there three or four months starting August 7th. This place was very clean. She was in a room with another person but it was also kept very clean. It was also well-lighted with fresh paint and nice TV set. The only absolute thing I could say in any of these facilities is that they ought to have more channels for these people, something where there were more shows on there that they could watch. Regarding the staff, I thought they were very attentive. They were very spot-on. If they felt mom needed something, they called and talked to us about it and kept us in the loop. They were extremely friendly and very helpful. I can tell that they were exhausted and it had been a trying day, but they're always smiling. They were also very patient even with the family because it was an ordeal and an adjustment. Overall, I was extremely happy with this facility and I had no complaints about them. Food also was overall great. "

"My Aunt fell in June of this year. After 3 days in the hospital including surgery, he was sent here for therapy. I visited with her close to every day,the days I didn't, my husband did. The facility was clean, the staff was very nice to my aunt and to us as well.She was getting the help she needed. The meals were so-so. My aunt lived to eat, at times she was so turned off she didn't eat. I would ask for some fruit, or a shake and they brought it to her. My problem was trying to get answers. The nurses were great. My aunt was there 2 months. I had asked so many times to speak with the facilities Dr. Not once would he return my call. It seemed so unfair that I could not speak with him.She did pass away, not fault of the facility. "

"Ventura Post Acute was OK but understaffed. The people at the logistics and the ones setting up transportation for doctors appointments were great and super helpful. I had cookies that were good."

"The staff at the Woodland Hills Motion Picture and TV Fund were very welcoming and warm. While the place did tend to have the typical "assited living home" smell the place was clean. There was no trash and everything had looked washed. The people who lived there seemed happy and seemed to enjoy the place. The facility seemed like it was well managed and the outside was beautifully landscaped and maintained. Right near Calabasas, this place was in a very upscale neighborhood. The people who lived there seemed to immediately get help when they ask for it and receive quality care at this facility. The food seemed to be well prepared and the people who lived there seemed to appreciate it. Overall the entire experience was an interesting look into a facility that I didn't know much about. I think it's a nice place and that the people generally enjoy living there. I also want to add the place is always kept up nice for the holidays. There are decorations and fun stuff galore. "
