"My grandmother was relocated to this facility after her long-term care proved to be too much of a burden on my mother and I, about a year ago. At first we were uneasy about the level of care given to each patient by the resident nurses, being minimal or at worst nonexistent. However this was soon put to ease by the level of professional care and personal service each nurse provided for our family member. The rooms in California Care are mostly spacious, equipped for hospital beds and with enough space to personalize for longer periods of stay. All of the staff is polite, paying attention to any specific requests the patients have. The main facility is kept clean and in good order and visiting hours are decent. The grounds are somewhat small but the main building is set back far from the road so traffic noise is decreased enough to give an atmosphere of comfort. My mother and I have no worries that my grandmother will not receive the utmost care and dignity at this facility. "

"The patient care staff at Evergreen really seemed to care about the residents, whether the residents were actually able to communicate or not. The facility was always clean. My grandmother was a resident for a couple of years, and she never had any sores or wounds. She did have a couple of falls and two escapes out the fire door. That was a little scary. My grandfather received loving care there in his final days. He was comfortable and aware until the end. We were at peace with his decision to spend his final days there. "

"My mom is now in the Kern Rehabilitation Center. We transfered her there because she has more family in Bakersfield. It is an older facility. The staff is very willing and kind, but there is still the issue of slower response time like in the previous facility she was in. "

"They were going through a complete remodel when my husband went into The Orchards Post-Acute. In the nine weeks he was there, he changed tremendously. They had a large physical therapy room, and they worked with him every day -- more than one time a day. When he went in at that time, his knees had collapsed. He couldn't walk when he first went in. They worked with him. Everybody seemed nice when we left. It was a whole makeover of the facility. It is very friendly to go in and everything. We were happy there, and he got what he needed."

"I've been to Kern River Transitional Care and I liked that place. It's a skilled nursing facility and my sister was there for a short time after surgery. They were very nice. The staff was very nice to my sister and they're also very helpful. The food was great and there was a lot of food. They're very informative too. Their rooms were very nice and clean. The part I went to was more of a hospital setting since it was skilled nursing. She was in her room, but a lot of people were also outside either dining in or on the patio outside. "
