"My stepmom is a resident of Rowntree Gardens, and what I like most is the responsive and caring staff. It is a Christian community, and it has many activities. The people that are living there are very nice. It's a wonderful community. It has an atrium in the middle. There's a lot of outdoor beauty in the gardens and a lot of outdoor space to mingle. They have doctors that come. They have a church and a full-time pastor. They have a beauty shop. They have a fully stocked library. They have rooms for private events that you can reserve. They have a little gift shop, a main dining room, and a fire lounge."

"The nursing staff and social worker took fantastic care of my Mother in Law. They were very kind and patient with her. She was significantly under weight upon her arrival and they were able to get her to eat, and gain weight. The therapies they provided helped her to gain strength and she became more steady on her feet. The rooms are decorated to suit each individual resident, and the the patients participate in Art projects that are displayed through out the center. I would highly recommend this facility as they are experts in caring for loved ones with dementia, including those that have behaviors. They cared for my Mother-in-law like she was their own family. She laughed and smiled more during her time there, than she had for many months prior."

"My mother-in-law has been in Montclair Manor. The people who works there are very nice. The management was very informative and caring about her costs and things like that. We had a little bit of trouble getting it accurate in the end. There were more bills that came in that we didn't understand. They overcharged us but they reimbursed us and so we were happy. The rooms were adequate and mom was a fall-risk person so they put mats on the floor and they put the bed down and they had adequate stuff for her to prevent any type of fall. The food was good. It was good that they served her a lot of snacks. She did very well there. The facility was old but clean. They needed a lot of maintenance there like painting and some things that needed to be replaced. "

"Pomona Vista Care Center is really good, they've treated my dad very well. They have a nice, clean facility, the staff is friendly and they're good with my father. They also have very good food. They dressed up all the time and they go around like they are suited up in costumes or different characters and they do their duties that way. The layout of the place is nice, and it's in a central location."

"My mother-in-law was Country Villa of Claremont before she passed away. It was recommended by her doctors and it was close to home. We spent as much time with her as possible because we didn't know how much time we had. The staff was always very considerate and caring, and always offered us things. The atmosphere was very homey and caring. The faciility had 2 large patios with tables and umbrellas for the residents and their families to use. It also had a far side room where you could always have private time away from other things. It had a big table, a TV, and a fireplace. They also had a multi-purpose room where they had activities everyday for residents. My mother-in-law was in a shared a room. The first room we were in didn't work out because ours was extra small and the other person's was extra large. When they moved us to a different room, it was more equally divided and was a much nicer room. It looked out onto the garden. My husband liked the food at this facility. I liked the staff and the cleanliness of the place the most. My mother-in-law said that the facility was beautiful. "

"We chose Park Avenue Healthcare & Wellness Center because this is the place that suited my father the most out of all of the facilities he's been in. He's been there a couple of months. They take care of him very well, the staff treats them very well. They feed him and he's doing good and not gaining any more weight. They have different activities like board games and different things they do for the seniors. It's also located near everything."

"I was able to speak with a speech therapist who was working at this facility and told me that Plott facilities place a big emphasis on activities for rehab. I did see a lot of patients gathered in the activity room and dining room. The facility itself is an older building and could use a facelift; the vinyl floor tiles were cracked. While the rooms appeared clean, I was able to detect a slight odor. The patients looked clean and seemed content as they gathered around one of the TV rooms. I liked that the building has lots of commercial windows to let light in and a receptionist desk at the entrance. "

"We’ve often heard how good the care is at Claremont Manor but they were always full. This past summer, when our mother again needed assistance, Claremont Manor had an opening and we jumped at the opportunity. Everything we had heard about Claremont Manor was true. It’s a very safe and welcoming environment. The management, staff and care team are accommodating, attentive, friendly, and helpful. The communication was informative and very thorough. The physical therapy team was helpful and patient. We are so thankful to have chosen Claremont Manor."

"My husband was at Pilgrim Place Health Services Center. It had occupational therapy and physical therapy. They had activities there. It's really a good skilled nursing facility. They have a huge assisted living facility there for seniors. It took a while to get his medicine figured out. He has Parkinson's, so it's very specific, like he has to have his medicine six times a day, and the medicine people are just used to three times a day, so it kind of threw them off. Sometimes, he didn't get his medicine on time. That was probably the biggest complaint, but everything else was good. The food was good. He loved his physical therapy. He liked the activities. It's clean. It feels like a home, even though it's skilled nursing. It's nicely designed with artwork, and the staff is great. The nurses are great. It's a great place. They had art, movies, singing, and exercise. They had a lot of activities. They have a courtyard. When you first walk into Pilgrim Place, there's a huge patio to sit outside. They have a nice room for family, like a big dining room for people to come visit. They have another room for church. Medicare paid for it."

"This is a small skilled nursing facility tucked into a residential neighborhood. The grounds are quaint, but there's not much parking. The rooms were clean and are semi-private. I didn't see too many patients out in the hallways and the ones I saw looked clean; I didn't detect any odors. The menu included typical hospital fare and I don't think the food is made from scratch. The lobby was recently remodeled as were the grounds so that patients can use them for rehab. The staff I encountered were friendly. "

"I am a resident of Heritage Park Nursing Center. I love the staff; they are very professional. It's an excellent facility and they have excellent food. They did a great job taking care of me. If I need to be in skilled nursing, if I could, I would just stay here. I love it so much. The building is two stories, and I think there are 75 patients in the building. We have nice rooms, and just great staff, great nurses, CNAs, LVNs, and RNs. There's nothing I didn't like about it, it's just that I don't need to be in skilled nursing anymore. There's no pool here, but they do have a hair salon and a rehab center which is fairly large, for exercise and rehabilitation. Depending on your dietary needs they have nourishment or snacks twice a day. Not every patient has the same doctor, but doctors come regularly. They have a very nice courtyard for those that are capable to go in their wheelchair and go outside. I'm very picky about food, and they provide a lot of alternatives if you don't want what they're going to serve. I have Social Security, and they pay my share of the costs, and the state takes care of the rest. But as far as I'm concerned, there is no question that I got the value for the money."

"I’ve read all of the reviews and, since I’ve lived here for 4 years, I feel qualified to add some comments and correct some misconceptions. Mt. San Antonio Gardens is, unquestionably, a high quality place to move to when you reach a certain age. It is not cheap, but it is a life-care community, which means the fee you pay when you enter covers all levels of care you may need until you die. You pay a Founders fee, based on the unit you select, and a monthly care and service fee, also based on your unit. There is a discount if you’re under 75. There are 1 and 2 bedroom cottages, about 5 houses, and numerous 1-2 bedroom apartments in various areas around the Gardens campus. There are also studio apartments available in 3 buildings. All services, including dining, housekeeping, use of the wellness center, programs, gardening, are included in your monthly fees. All units are renovated, painted, etc., before new resident move in. Any special renovations—recessed lighting, special paint colors, additional bookcases, are paid for by residents. The monthly fees have NOT suddenly started to go up $1,000:a month. Increases are made annually, and are generally 5-7%. There is a very attractive Social Center in the center of the Gardens that houses the dining room, large living room, library, and a large Assembly where the numerous programs take place. A recent program featured nationally known, local boy, Rod Gilfry, in concert. The dining room offers 3 meals a day 6 days a week. On Sundays there is a lovely main meal offered at noon. Sack lunches are available to take home for supper on Sundays. Residents have the option of reserved, served tables, or a buffet meal at lunch and dinner. Breakfast is a buffet, but you can place special orders for omelettes, etc. Dining Services offers several special receptions and dinners on holidays throughout the year. These are included in your monthly fees. You can also plan your own special dinners with the Chef that is served in a private dining room, or in the kitchen, for an extra charge. Probably the most compelling reason to move to the Gardens is community. It is very easy to become isolated if you remain in your own home as you age, whether you are single, or have a partner. Once you retire, you lose that daily interaction, and you have to make an effort to stay involved with friends and in the community. When you reach your 70s and 80s, it’s also more challenging to take care of a yard and the many demands of maintaining a house, not to mention cooking 3 decent meals a day. It’s remarkable how freeing it is to suddenly have none of these responsibilities and to have someone else dealing with all of the cooking, cleaning, gardening and repairs where you live. But, the social interaction is the best part. You can spend time with an amazing variety of very bright, engaging people at the Gardens at meals and various activities every day. Or, if you are less social, you can enjoy the benefits of the Garden—meals, programs (on TV)—in your own unit when you decide you need some down time. You are in charge when you move to the Gardens until you need a little, or a lot, of support. That is when the different levels of care are available, and you have already paid for what you need. Your children don’t have to step in and care for you. That is your gift to them, and to yourself! All it takes is planning ahead! Come for a visit and check it all out."
