"She is here, people seemed happy, and there are a lot of activities going on like taking people to doctors' appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays, go to a casino once a week, shopping on Thursdays, and shopping at Target. They do exercise classes every day, and sometimes they do cooking classes. They also have entertainment that comes in monthly. They have 1-room apartments, like a bathroom and a room together, and they clean their rooms and do their laundry for them once a week. "

"I visited Park View Place. I was very pleased with the beauty of the hillside that this retirement center is built into. I did tour both the one-bedroom and studio apartments. There were several different floor plans. One of the things that I liked about it is that if I was interested in independent living, I would be able to park my car in the underground garage. I did see the exercise room and the dining room and the various activities that are planned by the staff there. I was not unimpressed by it. I really liked it, but now that I think back, I'm thinking about whether it's in an area that seems safe from fire and stuff like that. It was a multistory facility, so I went up to the floor that was independent living because I'm still living independently myself. The next floor down was the assisted living if you needed a little more help. I liked the fact that each unit had a little outdoor porch that overlooked a park. It's a beautiful place to look out from. I liked the fact that the units were very nice and clean and it was clear that the bathrooms had recently been refurbished and had the senior citizen in mind, for example, like a place to sit down when you're taking a shower, if that's what you need, and so on. I liked that the studio had a dividing wall in it that allowed you to have like a little sitting room. Right over on the other side of the wall was the bedroom area. It was generally pretty comfortable and very nicely kept and clean. I was interviewed by a young woman who comes from the same area of the world that I grew up in, so that made it extra nice. I didn't actually meet the manager because I did it on a Saturday and he was not working that day or was coming in later, but I had a very nice tour. I saw the other accommodations like the washer and dryer and that kind of thing. The washer and dryer was in a separate unit. It wasn't in the unit that I was visiting."

"Valencia Commons is a beautiful facility, and it’s very nice. They change managers a lot though. The staff is very good with the elderly. My parents had a one-bedroom apartment, which was very nice. It was on the bottom floor, it had a patio and a back door that went out to the nice yard that went to the car port. It’s just perfect. They offer activities, but not many seniors do them. "

"I felt so comfortable visiting here. I felt like it was home. I took my dog with me because they said they were pet-friendly and I loved the place. Everybody was just in a good mood. They were singing along in the lobby and I saw the way the people were acting towards the residents and they were great. The grounds and everything about it were beautiful. They were nice, easy to access, and clean. It's perfect. It's just not what I want right now. Someday maybe, since I still wanted to do my own stuff."

"My aunt and uncle moved to Bayshire Yorba Linda. They can accommodate a lot of things. The grounds are kept clean and the atmosphere is very inviting. It was very spacious. It didn't seem like everything was kind of crammed in. The people that we met there were very helpful and very kind. We haven't run into any problems as far as helping my aunt and uncle. The food is very good. My uncle is not as social as my aunt. Even within memory care, they have a lot of activities to stimulate their brain, and to keep them busy. We've been very happy with the available activities. The value of memory care is awesome. It's pretty reasonable."

"I toured Oakmont of Capriana. There was a little miscommunication of my going out for a visit. When I went, there was a little mix up, but the woman was very, very kind. She said, "Please come back when I have more time," but we did walk through, and oh my goodness, it was a lovely place. She even gave me a little cart of cheeses and sausages and apricots as I left, and she said, "This is for you, and you can eat it on your way home." She was waiting for me there. It's a gated community, and she opened the gate right away when I came. She was very kind, and the receptionist was very kind, too. She answered questions. I saw that the residents have snacks every day. They have fresh baked cookies. The residents were just sitting out there. I went to different activity rooms. It was a beautiful setting. Outside, the courtyard was very inviting for the residents. And I said, "Where is everybody?" She said, "They just had a Father's Day there." I saw the movie place, and they were watching It Happened One Night, and there were several people there. One disappointment was, when I talked with them on the phone about prices, I thought they would have a studio. But it was a little disappointing because I think it's $145,000 down that you put in and you don't get it back unless you move out, so I knew my loved ones couldn't do that for a studio. When I went there, I thought that the studio would be an option, and I don't know if it's really an option for new residents to come in, and that was a disappointment. However, she was just very inviting, and just wonderful. The building was very nice and very well kept. The food looked outstanding. Even the waiters were very polite, very professional, and very well dressed. I thought it was an excellent idea for the seniors that at each meal they have a sample. I don't know if it's wax or real, but it shows exactly what the meal is, so that if they can't read or if they're not quite computing or for whatever reason, it helps them see immediately what the choices are individually. They could also eat inside or outside."

"I visited Clearwater at Glendora. The place was wonderful, but it was too big. I liked the location. It was a resort-like quality. The amenities were just fantastic. The people that I saw and dealt with were really nice. They offered everything from the salon to exercising. They had a game room and all that. The bedroom had good lighting and nice views. The rooms were really nice. Topnotch on everything. The staff member who took me around was a very nice lady. The place was fantastic - the cleanliness and the grounds. It was just a wonderful place."

"We saw both the independent and assisted living part of The Meridian at Anaheim Hills. It was really pretty and nice. They had a lot of activities and amenities. They have a craft room. They have music, too. They have a trail for the residents to walk. It is nice that the residents can get exercise. There are lots of trees and really nice views. The staff members were all great, too. It was a beautiful place."

"Corona RCFE was very nice, and the people were very friendly. The grounds were good. The room is perfect for my mother who is 92. She just needs a room with a little bed, a chair, and a TV. That's all she needs. It looks like she can go out and go to the dining room area, and things like that, and they have those things available too. The staff who helped me was very friendly and answered all the questions. She was very good. I didn't sample the food, but the dining area was fine. For activities, they have a little room where people can go and they can meet with each other and play games and so on, so that's fine."

"It was nice. They had activities. The people who were there were happy. They had big and spacious apartments. The staff was nice. "

"Everything seemed perfect for my father. It?s clean and has a nice environment. The staff is nice and cooperative. The rooms are spacious and clean with a nice carpet and the bathrooms are remodeled. They discuss various activities during the week and they have a monthly schedule on the wall so everybody may be aware of it. "

"We like it. It was very nice. They provide laundry and three meals a day. The staff was very nice."

"The staff were very friendly, thoughtful, and appeared to know all individuals who lived there on a first name basis. The staff also recognized family members who visited on a regular schedule. The food was good, and many opportunities for extra activities were provided. The only negative was that the rooms seemed to be slightly neglected. I am not sure how often the rooms were cleaned but more frequently would have been better. "

"We were very please with Park Plaza and its staff. They all seemed to be courteous, pleasant and knowledgeable. This extended from the housekeeping staff, through the dining room staff, receptionist, event coordinators, sales director, manager, etc. The facility is very neat and clean and cheerful. Their food is surprisingly good and you can tell that the chef puts a lot of thought and effort into putting together tasty and nutritious menus for their residents. There are many activities offered so resident may choose to be as active as they wish. They are located three blocks from Orange Senior Center and Old Town Orange Circle which offers a variety of shops and dining. "
