"Meridian at Chino looked beautiful and very clean. It didn't smell. The people were very, very friendly, and they had elevators. I was informed that the third floor had to be for people who were not in walkers or wheelchairs because of evacuation concerns. That was very prudent. Tori was very friendly and very efficient. She knew what she was talking about and she was able to give me brochures. She was able to take me on a tour and describe the rooms and what goes on there. She was able to give me a two-week menu of what they were serving, and a one-month menu of their extra activities. The structure of the building seemed very well done, and the facilities were clean. I saw three of their very adequate rooms. I liked the bathrooms with the full shower, the handlebars, and the bench to sit on. I felt that the size of the rooms was good. Some of them were larger than others. I also liked the fact that there was a microwave and a refrigerator in each of the units, and enough room for a bed, some storage, and maybe a table and chair, but as far as I know, you would be going to the dining area to eat."

"It is fine and in a nice area. The surroundings are nice. The rooms are beautiful, too. They have games and social movies, a bus that goes to stores or shopping, and a PT room. They make your meals, clean your room, and vacuum. I tried their food, and it was excellent."

"My aunt and uncle moved to Bayshire Yorba Linda. They can accommodate a lot of things. The grounds are kept clean and the atmosphere is very inviting. It was very spacious. It didn't seem like everything was kind of crammed in. The people that we met there were very helpful and very kind. We haven't run into any problems as far as helping my aunt and uncle. The food is very good. My uncle is not as social as my aunt. Even within memory care, they have a lot of activities to stimulate their brain, and to keep them busy. We've been very happy with the available activities. The value of memory care is awesome. It's pretty reasonable."

"I went there with the Girl Scouts. My daughter is a Girl Scout and they wanted to show how the elderly could be cared for in a special Alzheimer's unit that they have in Park Terrace. I thought it was very clean, nice, and comfortable, especially for the Alzheimer's patients. The staff were pretty friendly. The residents seem happy. "

"Air Force Village was an excellent community. What I like about most was the levels of care. They are able to care of administering the medication by injection and not all facilities offer that. For me I would always go somewhere that offers that for my parents as my parents are insulin dependent. Everyone was friendly, highly informative and very patient, and the people that were living there were really glad with the decision they made. For my later years, I would go there. "

"It was very nice, and the staff was very nice. The dining area was very clean and homey. The rooms were very nice too. "

"We went to Cadence at Rancho Cucamonga. It was one of the top two. What it came down to for us, was location and pricing. So the actual esthetics, decor, and update of cadence were nice. We liked how their floor plan was, and their rooms were a lot more than the other place. But the issue for my parents is that they are still Kaiser patients and the Kaiser that they went to, where their primary doctors are, happens to be closer to Chino than Rancho Cucamonga. So that was more convenient for transportation purposes. And then Cadence was more expensive. As soon as you got to higher levels of care, and the prices increased astronomically to where those higher levels of care started occurring, that was going to be out of my parent's price range if they both got to level five. The add-ons were astronomical. We love Cadence, we love the staff, we love the activities, we loved everything about it, and they could afford probably everything up to level three. But as soon as you start getting to level four and level five, it's triple the rent, and that was going to be too much. They had a lot of activities. They had a lot of amenities. You're paying for what you get. The place was the cleanest. The staff were amazing. They had physical activities. When we were there, they had a musician there, so they have music activities, they have arts, they have field trips, and the activities are fantastic. We didn't get to eat the food. However, they were trying to get us to eat it, so it looked amazing, and the dining hall was beautiful."

"We toured Park Plaza for my mom, and it was inviting. I like the layout, and the person that faced me was really professional and answered all my questions. The premises were clean and up to date. I like the fact that they have discovery or respite living, so she can try it out. I really liked it, so we're going to look at that one pretty closely. We are also exploring other possibilities just to get a comparison."

"My mom is in Atria Del Rey. We've both been very pleased with their care and especially lately she's fallen a couple times; they tend to spend extra time with her and doing different things now that she hurt her arm and all that stuff. They've been very, very helpful. Her room is OK. None of these places are cheap, so of course I always would think maybe we'd like a little bit bigger room, but this one's fine, and she has everything she needs there in her room, so it's fine. Things are so different right now because of the COVID going on. The residents don't get to sit together for meals or anything. They have to eat in their rooms, so that's a big change, but they are very diligent with everything they're doing, trying to keep everyone healthy, and I think they've done a real good job. That's just been the hard part for her. My mom didn't want to move in there in the first place so it has nothing to do with them or the place. She likes everybody there. She's very happy with everybody there. She still thinks that she could live alone by herself, which she hasn't come to the realization that she can't. There's quite a few things they do. Again, before COVID happened they had a lot of activities. They have a large room with a television that they show movies in all the time; it's nice. They did a lot of activities during the day. Now, with COVID, that's really stopped a lot of that. They've come up with some other ideas where they go to each resident's room and they play little games or whatever with them, and then they move onto the next person. They try to keep them active a little bit as much as they can, but because of the virus they do have to stay in quarantine. That really put a damper on a lot of things that we used to do. I've been very happy with everything that they have done. After my mom fell these last couple of times they have really stepped up and helped with the wounds and those types of things. They do have that staff on hand too, which is really nice to know 'cause I can't go in there, because of the COVID they won't let anybody in, and I think all the places are that way. We ate the food in the very beginning, in the first couple of months, and my husband and I went there a few times. Some of the other family members went 'cause they have a really, really nice, pretty dining room, but now we can't do that. But at the time we went several times and the food was very good. The facility is lovely and very, very pretty inside and very clean looking. I'd say they do a lot. They keep it looking really good. I didn't really see that much, but from what I've heard they have different levels of activities depending on the person's capabilities, because they do have some residents there that are not as coordinated because of their age, illness, or whatever. They kinda have several different things to match up with their abilities."

"I have visited Holiday Valencia Commons a couple of times. The gal that I was working with, Marie, was incredibly kind, and welcoming, and just made the process less daunting. So, I just liked her manner of dealing with us. We weren't ready to move my mother-in-law, but I started the process in October just to do my homework, and I asked her to stay in contact with me and just let me know how things are going, what's available and the pricing and all of that, and she was very consistent with keeping me in the loop. The facility is not newer, but I know they are refurbishing the rooms. The refurbished rooms are nice. They were very attentive to the people living there, but also I could tell how the residents responded to them. I didn't feel like they were putting on a show for just the tour. I think it was just very authentic. They have senior ambassadors. So people come and visit and they kind of give them the independence and the autonomy and leadership to take a role in their own home. So, I thought that was pretty impressive. The two times I went there, it wasn't during mealtime, but the menus and their options looked amazing. I think it was pretty good and the fact that they have a little bistro for them so they kind of come and go as they please if they want a snack or drink or whatever. I thought that was impressive. They have a hair salon, Catholic mass, and games. They have an activity every day. They're encouraged to not eat in their room but to come down and eat, to be social, and that's a big part of what we were looking for, to make sure that my mother-in-law is not going to be lonely and that she continues to be social."

"I toured Woodbridge Terrace of Irvine. I didn't think it had the level of care that the other facility had, but it was a beautiful place. The staff who gave the tour was great. She's fine. It was very pretty, very light, and bright. I liked it."

"I toured Claremont Manor Retirement Community. What I liked best was this is a skilled nursing program. What I liked least was they didn't accept my mother's insurance. The staff was professional. The floors and the walls were clean. The rooms are very nice in terms of size and layout. When I stepped in the atmosphere was pleasant."
