"Westmont Village is nice. It feels a little bit like a hotel in a way where when go in, there's a front desk and then there's an elevator not far away. Then if you went straight forward, there's a dining room and there's mailboxes. And if you go up the elevator, there's the wings that go up to the right and left from each floor. The landscaping is maintained, and it's beautiful. Some of the rooms would have a view that would include mountains, so that's very nice. We really like the person who helped us during the tour. She was very helpful and informative. At one point, when one of the rooms became available, she took a video of that apartment and sent it to us, so we could see it as well as the family members that weren't able to go, so that was very helpful. The staff was very responsive when we asked her questions. We looked at the menu, and it looked great. There was some music going on in the dining room. They showed us one apartment that had furniture and another one without furniture. However, it's not the newest building. It's been around a little while. "

"I greatly enjoy visiting my grandfather at this nursing home. He is renting an apartment in this senior center. My grandmother and grandfather purchased together, but she passed away while living here. The staff was extremely accommodating toward our family during this very difficult time. We were able to use the community center to host her memorial service reception. It came with a kitchen area and everything we needed for this event. My second comment is that I am very pleased that Inland Christian has a health monitoring system where the resident must push a button inside their unit to let them know their health is doing ok. The apartment is beautifully designed with a kitchen, living room, 2 bed rooms, and 2 bathrooms. They even have a patio and laundry room right inside their unit. This senior center/nursing home is a great place for any elder to retire. The only negative comment I have is in regard to parking. The parking is great for a resident as they are able to park in a covered garage. However, my grandfather has very bad knees so the walk can be very long when carrying in groceries. The parking is much worse for a visitor. A visitor has to park behind the building, and then walk to the main entrance where they take the elevator or stairs to reach the appropriate level. The day I visited it was raining so I was soaking wet by the time I reached the apartment building. Overall, I have been very satisfied with Inland Christian Home. A great staff and a wonderful place to call home has made my grandfather very happy. I highly recommend it! "

"This is a highly rated non profit CCRC community for retired folks from the clergy or other recognized helping professions (e.g. YWCA). It's a group of like professionals who share a great deal in common and demonstrate an unusual caring for one another. The assisted living section is especially excellent with incredible caring staff. Highly recommended. "

"San Antonio Gardens is very lovely. They have a swimming pool and a gym. The staff is very nice and accommodating. It is very attractive, and it attracts high, intelligent clientele. It is also very expensive, but it is excellent. "

"I would be moving into Hillcrest - A Remarkable Retirement Community because of their application process. My interaction with the staff was fabulous. They have a combination of cottages. They have a combination of singles, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms, and they're in a low-rise building. Anything and everything that your heart could desire is there and available. I'm an architect, so visuals are very important to me, and this place has been there for multiple decades. Hillcrest has been architecturally designed with the theme of the Craftsman era. It's very comfortable for anybody coming from a historic community previously. They are full of grounds, flowers, trees, and shade. It is extremely well maintained. There's pride of ownership there; no question about it. I dined in their dining room. They are not cafeteria food; they're adult food. Hillcrest is a better value. I was also impressed with the overall staff there."

"I went to the Masonic Home at Covina. It's a private place. I'm a freemason, so I would be able to have access for myself or my mom because I know that if your son is a mason, your parents could be residents there too. It's very good to me. I would consider it for myself if I needed to go to a place. The staff is excellent, very professional, helpful, and informative. It's a very nice facility. I know they were, at that time, looking at building a memory care. They have a swimming pool, they have a gym, they have a dining hall, and I believe they even have a library. They even have a little store, like a 7-Eleven type convenience store. I only got to see the independent living part and they looked very nice, very roomy, they even had a kitchenette as well."

"My mother is in Merrill Gardens at Rancho Cucamonga and it's fine so far. The staff is very nice and very qualified. I like them. The rooms are beautiful when you decorate them yourself and they're new. I would recommend it. The food is excellent, too. They have all kinds of activities depending on the level of care. It's a little pricey, but it's worth it."

"At Town & Country Manor, the physical therapy was very professional. They got a good range of therapists, and they were able to help make some progress with my father's condition. "

"I toured Merrill Gardens at Huntington Beach. It's quite new. Their residents felt older than I was, but it seemed a livelier place than the other place. The facilities were very good."

"Atherton was a little dated and wasn't as modern as I would like it to be, but it was nice. The staff seemed to be extremely friendly and helpful. The activities were sufficient for me. The rooms were spacious and adequate. "

"I visited The Tower on 19th's senior apartments. It is 18 stories, but every time I've gone in there, it's very clean and very quiet. I never heard a lot of noise, and I didn't see a lot of people. The senior community and the people that you meet there seem to be friendly. It's not an assisted living facility, and you have to be independent to be there. They have laundry in the building, and whatever floor you're on, they have a trash chute that goes down to the basement. They have a library and a place where they have a piano. The staff members are pretty good and very helpful. They tried to help me as much as they could. The apartments have kitchens in them, so they don't have food provided at the place."

"We like Villa Gardens, but Pasadena has its own health rules. They couldn't eat in the dining room or anything, so they were delivering meals. The hallways had chairs outside where they'd put the trays down and it just made the hallways look junky. They looked like a motel. They didn't look like a nice residential place, and it felt more like assisted living than independent living in the apartments. There just seemed to be not as much flexibility. There didn't seem to be as much a resident-driven activity. They don't hang their artwork. A lot of places have people that are rather accomplished painters. They don't honor those people with their work being displayed. I didn't even end up getting to see the art studio because the staff was just sort of sloughing it off. However, she asked us the most interesting questions of us and my husband liked her very much. I just didn't like it when she put off the thing about the residents' contributions being displayed. They also sent us home with the best cookies we've ever had. The location of it is unbelievably wonderful. You can literally in a 5-minute walk, get to a trolley stop, and go into Los Angeles on their wonderful streetcar and that is amazing. It was very compact and very urban. All the people that we met were quite nice and very thorough. We had to do a COVID test, swabs, and all that. The apartments didn't thrill us. They probably had some that were fine, but they weren't impressive. They didn't make us feel excited to be there. It looked like an old apartment complex from the outside."

"Prospect Manor seemed like it would be able to provide full service. For example, my dad has major mobility issues, but they're still willing to go forward with him. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and polite. The rooms appeared very clean. The whole place is very clean, very bright, warm, and inviting. I like the convenient location. They have different activities and the grounds are very nice. It looked very nice and welcoming."

"Mom was at The Covington for about 21 days. It was really nice, very pretty, and very elegant. They had the nicest people there. She had really good, skilled nursing. I didn't get to talk to the doctor much, but they had a doctor that made rounds. They changed the sheets every day, and they were very friendly and kind. It was nice, it's small, and they had good food and good activities. They had barbecue and physical and occupational therapy. The people are really positive, friendly, very professional. She didn't have to wait for people to come. They have lights that light up in the hallway, and someone will always come. The dining area was impressive. It had white tablecloths. They have a really good chef. I ate some meals there, and it was good. It wasn't the best food in the world, but it was very nutritious. They have a dietitian there, too. She will work with you. If you like chocolate, salmon, or are on a special diet, you can pick what you want the day before. It's very clean and new, and it has antique kind of furniture, antique-style, like armoirea and lots of drawers to keep things in. The bathroom was just immaculate. I didn't feel like I was going to catch any germs there. Mom had a spacious private room. It had a really big window that looked out on something really pretty, and you could open it up and bring fresh air in. They had all these beautiful gardens. So you could put them in a wheelchair and take them out to see different beautiful rose gardens, meditation gardens, and all kinds of pretty plants. It was really the nicest one I've ever seen. "
