"I have been in Merrill Gardens for three years now. It's quite expensive. It's a nice place, and the people are good, so I'm not complaining about that part. I've not been allowed to get out of here for a year now, so I sold my car because I couldn't drive it. I was paying $100 a month for parking here, so now I don't even have a car, but I couldn't take it out anyway. The management here is pretty good. They're doing everything they can to keep us from dying, but it is frustrating because I have had my nose checked fifteen times now. We're not doing any of the activities because of this disease thing. We had exercises every day and various things, but they stopped them here last month. It's been pretty good. Food varies. I don't know if they have different cooks or what, and some people get very disgusted with it, but to me, I just put up with it and throw it out if I don't like it. The facilities here are great and top notch. I don't know if you can beat this place for the class. It's a very nice facility, and they have just about everything you could want, but we just haven't been able to use them since March of last year. We have a shelf full of books, so that's the library, and there are probably 100 books in there. They have a room that they use for a chapel, too. Well, I had to get a room near the elevator because I can't walk that far, and my room went up from $5600 to $6800 and that's killing me. I have plenty of money, so that's not bad."

"I visited The Tower on 19th's senior apartments. It is 18 stories, but every time I've gone in there, it's very clean and very quiet. I never heard a lot of noise, and I didn't see a lot of people. The senior community and the people that you meet there seem to be friendly. It's not an assisted living facility, and you have to be independent to be there. They have laundry in the building, and whatever floor you're on, they have a trash chute that goes down to the basement. They have a library and a place where they have a piano. The staff members are pretty good and very helpful. They tried to help me as much as they could. The apartments have kitchens in them, so they don't have food provided at the place."

"Not knowing much at all about the Masonic Home at Covina before touring it, I did not have my expectations set all that high. However, I was almost immediately delighted with the pleasant atmosphere once I arrived. I was further impressed when I found out that they offer more than one level of senior care. Not only does Covina's Masonic Home offer an assisted living option, but also continuing care senior services, which I think is great. I left with the impression that Covina's Masonic Home is a very desirable senior care provider and I definitely believe that I would be content if I wound up there when I become a senior. I say this because when looking at the activities calender, there were outings that the residents could go on pretty much every single day. Other than outings, there were also a slew of on-campus activities listed that as a young college student, even I myself could see having fun participating in. All of the staff and volunteers are mandated to be fingerprinted and background checked before stepping a foot on the campus, which is wonderful. It is very important that elderly residents are in safe hands. The staff were very compassionate and every aspect seemed to cater to a top-not senior care environment promoting both health and recreation equally. "

"The aspect that made Inland Christian Home stand out above other assisted living facilities that I have visited was the quality of the staff that worked with the clients. Like other places I have visited, this facility offers some of the standard activities and services for elderly residents. I saw people engaged in games, coming home from outings, and eating and chatting together. Another thing I liked about this facility is that it offers a number of different levels for residents, ranging from independent living to constant care. It is nice not to have to move to a different facility when one's level of care changes. But as I said before, the quality of the staff is what distinguishes this facility--staff members were patient and seemed to really know the personalities of the residents, down to the names of their grandchildren. The staff also seems to stick around, which makes for a more stable environment. "

"Hillcrest is the only place my mom will consider going to. I was very impressed with them. The woman who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable. The facility was beautiful. It's where my mother's mother had been, and it's in the area where my mother had grown up. It probably would be a good place for her to be. "

"Daytime staff member assigned is caring, intelligent, and responsive to my grandmother's needs. She engages her and is familiar with her personal history and family relations. She's made an effort to get to know us. Facility has nice activities. It seems pretty standard as far as amenities and maintenance. Very clean and accommodating. Weekend staff is not the greatest. I feel like my grandmother is a bit neglected on those days and tends to have more problems with her dementia. Compared to state facilities EXCELLENT. "

"Mt. San Antonio Gardens was really nice. I liked it a lot. We talked to a resident and the security guard who told us about all the different activities, which sounded like a lot. They have Bingo and day trips where they take people shopping. They take people on different field trips or on little outings. They have a nice cafeteria, a library, a gift shop, a music room, one-bedroom apartments, and they have separate houses for independent living. We saw the dining room. It seemed more like a resort area."

"I only didn't give Pilgrim's Place a five because I have not been to that many assisted-living facilities and I don't know if it is truly the best of the best. What I can say from what I've heard about assisted-living places, is that it must come pretty close. I am a student in Claremont and I visited Pilgrim's Place in order to talk to some residents about their lives. I have hard many horror stories about assisted living facilities, but this one was nothing like that. It was clean and cheerful. The residents seemed happy and well taken care of. Like most of Claremont, the building itself was very nice and welcoming. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. Although I have not had relatives stay here, I would recommend it without a doubt and can only hope that I end up in a place like this in my old age, if needed be. I couldn't find anything wrong with this place at all. "

"My mom stayed at The Covington. It was a small facility with 24 beds and really good people working in therapy. The nurses and everyone were nice. Everything was good there. They had large bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. They only had 24 rooms, so you received pretty good attention. The nurses-to-patient ratio was good. The food and care were good. They really knew their patients. The place itself was really pretty and located up on a hill. My mom's window had a nice view of plants, trees, flowers, and things down the hill. The other thing was that all the rooms appeared to have big-screen TVs, recliners, and comfortable furniture. They went around a couple of times a day with a coffee cart of snacks and things. They would also come by with videos and books to read or watch movies if you wanted to. They were very good. "

"Prospect Manor seemed like it would be able to provide full service. For example, my dad has major mobility issues, but they're still willing to go forward with him. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and polite. The rooms appeared very clean. The whole place is very clean, very bright, warm, and inviting. I like the convenient location. They have different activities and the grounds are very nice. It looked very nice and welcoming."

"Del Amo Gardens offers skilled nursing to patients. The patient's level of care is a priority at this facility. The nursing staff and caregivers offer above average care, concern, and quality nursing to the patients. The environment is safe, sound, trustworthy, and clean. The Director of Nursing offers the family members an opportunity to vocalize their questions or concerns at periodic plan of care meetings. This is comforting and reassuring to the family member whose loved one is enrolled at the Del Amo Gardens Convalescent facility. "

"The Villa Gardens assisted living facility was near where we happened to be in Pasadena, so we decided to check it out as an option for my friend's mother. The lovely courtyard featured plenty of nice trees, shrubs and walkways. The outside of the building resembled that of a really nice, well maintained group of condos. There were plentiful beautiful trees and well manicured landscaping. The entire interior design of the facility was very well lit with bright light and modern, yet cozy furnishings and decor. The fitness center includes nice equipment and offers a variety of classes. Seniors are encouraged to enjoy physical activity as much as possible. The residents also enjoy yoga and aerobics classes. The weather is so mild in California, that residents may enjoy walks and spend time outdoors on a near year round basis. The food looked and smelled delicious.The menus included food options for all kinds of dietary needs. The dining menus offered the kind of meals that you mind find in an upscale cafe. The private spaces were nicely and personally designed. Each had its own unique look, with plenty of space for visitors. Pasadena is a well-situated community very near Los Angeles, but offers a level of tranquility from the hustle and bustle of the city. Even still, there is plenty of access to urban offerings such as art, culture and theater. The staff often takes residents on many outings into the community to enjoy all that it has to offer. From sight seeing to nature walks and cultural events, this facility sees that their residents are entertained and fulfilled. The seniors appeared very well taken care of, with just the right level of care necessary. The staff was very kind and helpful and seemed to really enjoy accommodating the residents. "

"It's a beautiful place and it's a great facility. Their staff is amazing. They have movies, field trips, tours, painting classes and bridge classes. Food is excellent. They have beautiful and brand new rooms. I would move there if I was the right age. I would recommend this to my family and friends. Every time a new resident moves in, they take everything out, carpet, appliances, painting. It's beautiful, brand new. Everything is new when you move in. It doesn't matter if the resident lived there for two weeks. They got it out and put in a whole new facility. It's beautiful and the staff is amazing. "

"Ararat Gardens was very nice, and the people were nice. I had lunch there. It was a chicken dish with rice, and it was really good. The room sizes were pretty good, and they looked very comfortable. The facility was located in a kind of an enclosed area. It was not like out in the countryside or something like that. And it didn't have a lot of space to walk around in, like walking trails."
