My mother is at the Mattis Pointe Senior Living, The Arbors, in memory care. It is fairly new. It's small. It's extremely clean. The people are friendly and extremely happy there. It is just really the right fit. They have a central TV room. The memory care section has two wings, an east wing and a west wing. The kitchen is in the middle, and the dining areas are next to the kitchen on each side. It's very easy for them to get around the rooms. There are no tripping hazards anywhere. My mother uses a walker, so this is very important that there aren't any tripping hazards. She has a nice room. It's all first floor and all the rooms have a double window. They're big windows that look out. The bathrooms are large, and they're all walk-in and are all private baths. The people working there are excellent. They've been there a long time. They have very little turnover. I haven't met anybody who is not extremely friendly and very eager to address any issue and help. They have activities. They were doing bingo yesterday. They invited my mother to play that. Before that, they were watching some type of movie. They have three activity directors who are there, and they keep them busy. They take them on field trips, too.

When visiting Mattis everyone was friendly and many services were promised including help with bathing and dressing. Also trips to nearby stores so residents could get out and shop. Once my mom moved in to a nice facade. The atmosphere became the opposite of the tour. The sTaff was uncaring. No one assisted her with anything. The food was monotonous. My mom was miserable there. She died after just 4 months before we could move her. Her room had items removed within a day. No proof who stole things Side note…within days of her death both Administrator and head nurse (LPN) were no longer at facility

Mattis Pointe Senior Living was a little more expensive, but the people that I talked to, the residents, loved being there. It's very spacious. It's got a country club atmosphere. It's very, very clean and very apartment-like. It looks more like a resort-type environment, too. The managers were very thorough. It was just a little bit of a short tour, but they were very nice. They had nice gardens, well-maintained facilities, a beauty shop, a little bit more entertainment for the residents than the others, and beautiful outdoors.

Mattis Pointe Senior Living told me that they were different from other places, where my mother has to go straight to memory care because of her diagnosis. Here, she could go to assisted living, and they don't charge for the levels of care, as a lot of places do. That's a plus. I have met several staff members. All the nurse's aides that passed me in the hall greeted me, and everybody was super nice and super friendly.

Mattis Pointe Senior Living was very nice, and the apartment and the bathroom had extra wide doors, a pocket door that slid, the entrance was at least four feet wide, and the bathroom was big enough. It was very clean and didn't have any bad smells to it. The rooms were the biggest rooms for a studio and had a huge walk-in closet. Their dining room and activity rooms were nice. They would wheel you out to your car if you needed and wheel you back when you got there, and they would haul in all your groceries. They had birdfeeders and places to sit outside, and they had great activities. However, they were $5,300, but that was all-inclusive. They would bathe you and give you pills. If I get to that point, I would move there. The staff was wonderful, friendly, and understood what I needed and said that if my husband is a veteran, I can qualify for veteran's benefits. The other staff members were friendly as well. The only thing they couldn't accommodate was if you were unable to get out of bed into your wheelchair because they did not have lifts. The facility was new and up-to-date.

Mattis Pointe was really nice. Everything was great. We had a room picked out, but at the rate she's going downhill, they knew she wasn't going to stay there. They were honest with us and told us they can do it, but she won't be able to stay there long-term. I liked that it was smaller, had one floor and only 30 units, and they've got big rooms and a theater room. I liked everything about it.
