Independent Living Communities in Murfreesboro, TN

"We've decided to keep my mom at AdamsPlace. The quality of care is excellent. It's like living in an old, beautiful southern mansion. It's stately, and it's well-kept. My sister and I looked at every facility in Murfreesboro that had different levels of care and it was the nicest of all of them. We were astounded when we went in because it was so beautiful, and we thought we could not afford it. But it was right on par with all of the other independent living places, in fact, less costly than some. The upkeep is immaculate. They just recarpeted downstairs and they plan to recarpet all the different floors. It's sparkling clean. You walk into the lobby, and its big marble floors. The big main room has a fireplace, a baby grand piano, and a lot of seating. They have a lot of music events and a lot of things for the residents to do. Mom is playing bridge with a group. It's like being in a real community home. There's a library that goes there once a week and they got to know the kinds of books mom liked and that she needed large print, so they would bring special books for her. I'm sure they did that for everybody. First Bank in Murfreesboro comes once a week, so the residents don't have to go to the bank if they don't want to. Plus, there's a guy there who takes you anywhere you want to go. All you have to do is call him. And they have regular schedules to take them to the grocery stores a couple of times a week. The place is fully staffed by full-time employees. There are no temporary employees there, which I think is a real advantage. Everybody that works there is so kind and so nice, up to the director who would see me any time. She knows me by name. She knows all the residents by name. The person that cleaned mom's room got to be friends with her. It is just very much her home. She has a 1-bedroom apartment, and it is perfect for her. They have different sizes of apartments. You can get two bedrooms or you can get a bedroom with a den. We opted to go with the smallest one, but we're amazed at how much of her furniture fit in there. Her couch, two end tables, a coffee table, two chairs, a TV, and a kitchen table all sit in the main area without being crowded. The grounds are beautiful. In independent living, she gets one meal a day. She can choose whether that's lunch or dinner. And the dining room is gorgeous. She sits with a certain group of ladies and the person that waits on them knows all of their preferences without even asking. She knows that mom doesn't like ice in her water and so she never brought her water with ice. It is just very, very personalized care. I had eaten there several times and it was OK. I wouldn't say it was great, but it was good. They have some problems keeping a chef. The food is better than average, but not restaurant quality. During the COVID, they brought everybody's food to the room. "

"The care my aunt received was excellent. The rooms are spacious enough to have the furniture of our choice. The activity staff are encouraging even when my aunt was difficult to attend. They travel to Wal-mart and out to eat. Love the family atmosphere. Very thankful we chose Stones River Manor. "

"The Villages of Murfreesboro was neat and clean. It was nice and they were friendly. The lady who toured us was really good. It was first-class. I looked at the menu and it's all varied, too. They have lots of entertainment, a courtyard, several get-together places, and they do trips to different places. The apartments are also fully furnished. It's got everything."

"I am living in Lake Providence and I choose it because it is a beautiful place with nice houses. The people are very friendly and accommodating. My house is very spacious and everything is on one level. I have two car garages with no steps and it is very conveniently and designed for wheelchairs or disabled people. They had a clubhouse and workout rooms with lots of activities. This is a nice community and I am really happy here. "

"My wife is at Carrick Glen Senior Living, and it’s great. We chose it for the staff, the facility, and how well it’s run and maintained. The apartment has wonderful amenities, the food is good, and she likes it. They have very friendly, eligible, and caring staff members. They’ve got a lot of activities going on for coffee, lunches, and outings to the pumpkin patch, and to look at the fallen leaves. They’re always doing something, and it’s cheaper than the place we were at before."

"I work for one of the residents. This is a top of the line place. It is an upscale community. The food is great. I really love going and working there everyday. 5 stars allday, everyday. "

"My mom has been at the Fountains of Franklin for two weeks now. We liked its proximity because it was less than two miles from my house. I liked the way the community is set up. The nurses are good and everything is within view of the nurse's station. It's like a big cube, and the nurse's station can see every room for the most part. Right now, the residents they have are not as highly functioning. A lot of them are acute. They keep the staff very busy, so I haven't seen a lot of activities. That's one of the things that I would like to see more of. My mom likes it, so that's the most important thing. She's already found a friend, and she's happy there. It's a very safe place. She loved the food. I was there with her at lunch time, and she was enjoying it. Some of the staff I would rate them a 5, and some of the staff, I would rate them more like a 3. That's the one thing they can improve: finding a good staff and keeping them (which probably most assisted living locations have issues with)."

"I visited The Heritage at Brentwood, and it's very nice. They had activities, and they had healthcare available. The staff that I met have been really very helpful and friendly. My husband has cousins living there, and I have a lady friend that is now living there, and they both love it. The apartments were absolutely gorgeous. They had one-bedroom, two-bedrooms, villas for standalones, and apartments. "

"Somerby Franklin is lovely, very welcoming, very attractive, and easy to access. The one disadvantage is that they do not have skilled nursing, so for someone who is looking for a life care community, they would not be a good choice. But the people were delightful, and the apartment that we saw was lovely. The amenities seemed to be fine. They are very similar to other assisted living communities in the area but very nice. We enjoyed our visit. We only saw one apartment, and it was furnished. It was a one-bedroom. It would have been difficult for me to accommodate my needs in that particular unit because it does not have a separate space for an office. It could have worked marginally, but beautiful space. It was a one-bedroom with a big closet, a nice sized bathroom, and a nice patio. This was on the first floor. It had a lovely kitchen, which is a big deal for me, I need to have a full kitchen, and this one was very nice. It would have been advantageous if they have had pullouts on the lower cabinets. When I built my house, I had pullout shelves made because older people have difficulty getting down on their knees and getting back up again, and to have a pullout shelf in the lower cabinets allows you to use all of the space, and that would be something that I think any assisted living place ought to include in their independent living space. The amenities were good. They had a pool, they had multiple activities, they had a dining room, and they had a snack bar place. I was not particularly interested in looking at any amenities other than a pool because I have a lot of outside interest now. So I'm not as concerned with whether they have card games or bridge games or that sort of thing during the week. They seemed to have a very good selection, but I didn't focus on that. The sales representative that we talked to was lovely. She was very responsive. I had sent a questionnaire in advance to answer some questions that are not addressed in brochure information, and she replied very quickly with very complete answers and was open to any comments that I made. She was a delightful lady to work with. The upkeep and maintenance looked good as far as I know. It was very attractive. It seemed to be clean. It looked very nice, it was clean, and seemed to be well cared for."

"I had a friend that had just moved into Hearthside Senior Living, and I visited with her. I haven't tried the food but my friend said it was good, and she's very picky. They did not have any internal court for the residents to wander in, and go sit in, or even look out at. They have more activities than my friend will want to do. They have amenities like a salon, and the place was very clean. The cost is astronomically high, but most of these places cost extremely high. "

"We looked at Saddlebrook, independent living for seniors, and that was a pretty nice place. We did not have a model to look at, so we looked at the facility. It seemed pretty nice. The common areas seemed OK. I thought they had a salon, and a common area for gaming. They had a media room where you could go and watch TV and a full-time staff during the day, but they did not have anything after hours or in case of emergency. You had to get your own Life Alert type thing if you wanted to do that. It would be nice if they had that, but they did not have a full or round-the-clock staff in the office to handle emergencies because it was independent living. "

"I was able to tour Everleigh Cool Springs. Walking into the place, it looked very nice and comfortable when I walked through the front door. The staff was great. When I first came they answered all the questions that I had. They had two apartments, a 1-bedroom, and a 2-bedroom that they took me through. I visited all the various amenities like the gym, which had treadmills and things for exercising. They also showed me where the elevators were, and where you put your trash during the day on all the different floors, and they gave me a complete view of the whole place. And then they sat down and we talked about the finances how long everything would take to get it started and so forth. There was no breakfast available on Sundays. They have a room where visitors can stay, so I'm going to visit back and have breakfast there. They also have a happy hour where I will be able to socialize, and they have little extra things that they do and I'll be able to participate in that when I'm down there. The one staff I met was very friendly. They go out of their way to make sure that they show us everything and did the best they could. I think the pool probably needed to be cleaned out a little bit better. I dropped in without an appointment but the lady there still showed me around."

"McKendree Village had everything my sister was looking for. She's moving from a home in Pennsylvania to be down here in Nashville by me and it has all the things that she doesn't have. It's great that they have 24-hour nursing and the room is set up. They have individual rooms and they have a dinette with a refrigerator and she's looking forward to having a refrigerator. It has a tub and she's not used to taking showers and she's looking forward to the tub. The rooms were compact, but they had everything. The owner was wonderful. The lady there was very knowledgeable and very kind. I'm looking forward to my sister being there. It's an older facility but it's well-kept. They have an activity director, too."
